Abstract

This study was aimed to analyse the intrinsic study ofShakespeare’s the tragedyof Julius caesar and it’s implication on the teaching of reading comprehension.In understanding the literature, there are two main factors that are appreciatednamely intrinsic and extrinsic. In this study the writer limited the problem on theintrinsic study in the drama entitle “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar”. Theintrinsic study includes theme, plot, character, setting and language. The writerchose the script of the drama as the population and chose the drama entitle“The Tragedy of Julius Caesar” as the sample of the research and focused onthe intrinsic study. This study used purposive sampling technique. It was basedon the point ofview of the writer. The sampling technique that the writer choseaccording to the goal of the research it was research on the intrinsic study of thescript.the method used in this study was descroptive method. The writercollected the data from the script of the drama “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar”,analyzed, and summarized the result of the analysis. The instrument in this studywas the text of the drama entitle “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar”. Then analyzedused content analysis technique. Based on the result used content analysistechnique, the writer concluded that the script of the drama “The Tragedy ofJulius Caesar” consisted the intrinsic study and it can be the material in theteaching reading comprehension.Key words: intrinsic study, implication, reading comprehension

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan Hello English terhadap prestasi kosakata siswa di kelas delapan SMP Negeri 3 Darma. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pre-experimental, satu grup dirancang dengan pre-test dan post-test. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 33 siswa. Penulis menggunakan total sampling untuk menentukan sampel, sehingga sampelnya adalah 33 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes dan angket. Berdasarkan analisis dan perhitungan data, uji Paired-Sample T-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 artinya nilai signifikan lebih kecil dari taraf signifikan (0,000 < 0,05). Hasil nilai signifikan menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Artinya ada pengaruh penggunaan Hello English Application terhadap prestasi kosakata siswa.

Abstract

This study investigated on the communication strategies at speaking classroominteraction and dominant communication strategies used by students for speakingclassroom interaction at the eighth grade of MTs Bina Sejahtera Kuningan. Theeight grade of MTs Bina Sejahtera Kuningan was chosen purposively as thesample. A descriptive qualitative methodology was employed in this study, and datawere collected through classroom observation and semistructured interview. Thedata from classroom observation and semi structured-interview were analyzed bytranscribing, redacting data, triangulation and drawing a conclusion. The findingsshowed that there were some types of communication strategies used by students inspeaking classroom interaction, message abandonment, use of fillers, selfrepetition, mime, expressing non-understanding, direct appeal for help, feigningunderstanding, asking for repetition, and asking for clarification. The dominantcommunication strategy used by students at speaking classroom interaction wasSelfRepetition (33,33%), Use ofFiller (24,82%), Direct Appeal For Help (9,93%),Asking For Clarification (7,80%), Message Abandonment (7,09%), Asking ForRepetition (5,67%), Mime (4,26%), and the least number of communicationstrategy used by students was Feigning Understanding (2,84%). Based on thesefindings, it is recommended that the students have to improve their speaking skill,especially in pronouncing, mastery of vocabularies and grammar and in speakingclass, the teacher should use teaching varieties to make students more active inclassroom interaction and overcome students problems and students difficulties inspeaking.Key words: Communication strategies, Descriptive qualitative methodology, Types of communication strategies

Abstract

The objective of the study was to analyze and describe the process of improving students’ listening skill for eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kuningan, West Java Province Using Tangled Animation movies. The subject of this research is VIII C class that consisted of 30 students. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which the writers work collaboratively with the English teacher. This study was conducted following Kemmis and McTaggart action research procedures: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The study carried out in two cycles. The results in this study indicate that there was improvement of the students’ skill listening. Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the end of the cycle. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of English lesson was 70.00. In the pre-test, there were 5 or 16% students who passed the KKM and the mean score of pretests was 56,66. The result of post-test 1 in cycle one, there were 14 students or 47% who passed the KKM considering their mean score of the test gained 65,83. Next, the result of post-test 2 in the second cycle shows that there were 24 students or 76,16%who passed the KKM and gained 34% of improvement. The class condition during teaching learning process was good also there was a positive response from the English teacher and the students towards the action. In conclusion, using Tangled Animation Movie can improve students’ listening skill.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh instructional scaffolding terhadap kemampuan menulis tesk deskriptif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif one group pre-test-post test design Teknik yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel adalah menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, sampel yang digunakan adalah sebanyak 20 siswa kelas 8 SMP Candra Jaya Jakarta. Instrumen peneltian ini menggunakan test yang terdiri dari pretest dan postest. Hasil pretest dan posttest menunjukan terdapat peningkatan dalam nilai menulis teks deskriptif. Ini dibuktikan dari hasil rata rata nilai pre-test 59,75, meningkat menjadi 65,25 nilai rata-rata post-test. Dari hasil penghitungan t-test diperoleh nilai t-hitung sebesar 4.221 sedangkan t-table dengan taraf signifikansi 0.05 sebesar 1.725. dengan demikian nilai t-hitung 4.221 lebih besar dari t tabel 1.725 maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, itu bisa disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh strategi instrucitonal scaffolding terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskriptif siswa.

Abstract

Modeling adalah salah satu metode modern yang digunakan untuk mengetahui perilaku material saat diberikan stimulus dari luar. Metode ini sangat bermanfaat untuk mengetahui perilaku biomaterial untuk aplikasi struktural seperti penyangga tulang. Selain itu modeling dapat membantu dalam mengambil keputusan saat melakukan pemilihan material penyangga tulang. Saat digunakan oleh pasien, penyangga tulang akan menerima beban tarik, beban tekan dan beban geser. Beban tarik arah tegak lurus luas permukaan vertikal merupakan beban yang cukup dominan saat penyangga tulang digunakan oleh pasien. Pembebanan dilakukan untuk mengetahui perilaku pada stainless steel 316L terhadap gaya tarik saat diaplikasikan pada pasien. Metode yang digunakan untuk modeling tegangan dan regangan dengan menggunakan Autodesk inventor 360. Penyangga tulang digambar kemudian dilakukan analisis tegangan dengan memberikan beban tarik pada penyangga tulang. Gaya tarik yang diberikan mulai dari 150 N sampai 2300 N. Hasilnya semakin tinggi gaya tarik akan meningkatkan nilai tegangan dan regangan pada material stainless steel 316L. Meningkatnya nilai tegangan tersebut masih di bawah kekuatan luluh dan tarik pada stainless steel 316L yaitu 170 MPa dan 485 MPa.

Abstract

The writer is interested to do a study on code mixing used in informal conversation done by the students. This study is conducted to identify code-mixing indicators used by the students in informal setting. There were some indicators in using code-mixing in a conversation. However, a sentence is not contained all the indicators. The method used in this study was descriptive method. The population used in this study is the informal conversation setting of the second year students and took ten informal conversation setting of English Education Department Universitas Islam Al-Ihya Kuningan. the writer used transcripts known as recording and transcribing using these following procedure: a) determining the objectives; b) determining the population and samples; c) recording the data from the samples; d) transcribing the data; e) analyzing the transcript and f) drawing conclusion. From the data gained, the researcher found that code mixing used in informal conversation indicates that there is no priorities one language in certain time. In this case, the use of code mixing is a media for students in improving their speaking ability.

Abstract

This study was done to find the effectiveness of Grammar Bahasa Inggris application in improving students’ grammar on simple present tense, which was observed and analyzed from grade ten students in SMK Darul Ulum Kuningan. The method used in this study was quantitative. The researcher took 16 students to be a sample of this study using random sampling. The sampling in this study was two groups consist of eight students for experimental group and eight students for control group. Before giving treatment, the writer gave pre-test. After giving pre-test, students in experimental group are taught by Grammar Bahasa Inggris application and control group without it. Finally, Post-test is given after giving the treatment. Then, it was analyzed by using t- test. The result showed that t-test is higher than t-table, t-test (t0) > t-table (tt) (2,48 > 2,145). It means that Ha is accepted while H0 is rejected is rejected. It can be summarized that there is significant different between students’ grammar using Grammar Bahasa Inggris application and without using Grammar Bahasa Inggris application. The writers concluded that using Grammar Bahasa Inggris is effective to improve students’ grammar specially on simple present.

Abstract

A form of early childhood self-actualization into a happy learner is the urgency of the preschool teacher realizing his professionalism. How concrete steps can be given by preschool teachers in their implementation is a form of teacher learning innovation in the classroom. This research is qualitative research with observation and interview techniques on how preschool teachers' efforts implement classroom teaching strategies in order to realize students' self-actualization in the classroom. The results of the research explain that students' ability to socialize and be able to cope with their environment is the main factor in self-accounting of preschool students in the classroom.
