Abstract

Cocoa is one of the leading plantation commodities in Lampung Province.  This commodity has contributed high export value in raw form and has become the main raw material in various agro-industries.  The main cocoa production center in Lampung Province is Pesawaran. All cocoa plantations in Pesawaran Regency are smallholder plantations.  Smallholder plantations have an important and strategic role, especially in increasing income and providing employment for the community.  There are two research objectives.  First, to analyze the performance level of monoculture and polyculture cocoa plantations in Gedong Tataan Sub-district, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province.  Secondly, to analyze the difference on the profit levels of cocoa plantations with monoculture and polyculture in Gedong Tataan Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province.  The research location was selected purposively by the consideration that Sungai Langka Village is the main cocoa bean producer in Gedong Tataan Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency. The research was conducted by a survey method, in which samples of 34 cocoa farmers were chosen by simple random sampling technique. The results showed that R/C ratio on total costs obtained by cocoa farmers with monoculture cropping pattern is 2.97. Meanwhile, the highest level of R/C ratio on total costs of polyculture is the cocoa-coffee-durian cropping pattern (3.69).  There was no significant difference between performance of monoculture and on polyculture cocoa plantations. Key words: cocoa, monoculture, polyculture, performance

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse the financial feasibility and risks of developing smallholder rubber plantations. The study used a survey method in Gunung Pelindung Subdistrict, East Lampung Regency, with data collection conducted from February to April 2025. The research samples were 48 rubber farmers selected using purposive sampling based on the age of the plants. The data analysis method used was financial feasibility analysis (NPV, IRR, Net B/C, Gross B/C, and Payback Period). Risk analysis used the Coefficient of Variation (CV). The results showed that smallholder rubber plantations were financially feasible with an NPV of IDR 96,735,632, an IRR of 12.15 percent, a Gross B/C of 1.36, a Net B/C of 1.96, and a Payback Period of 15.33 years. Sensitivity scenario calculations showed that the development of smallholder rubber plantations in Gunung Pelindung Subdistrict remained feasible with a percentage increase in production costs of up to 39 percent, a decreased in rubber production of up to 46 percent, and a decreased in the selling price of rubber of up to 51 percent. The price risk was classified as low (CV = 0.40), while the production risk was  classified as moderate (CV = 0.50). The greatest source of risk was caused by leaf fall disease, which occurs every year. Risk mitigation efforts were carried out by planting disease-resistant seedlings and applying fertilisers in accordance with government recommendations.  Key words: feasibility, financial, risk, rubber, sensitivity

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the accuracy of raw material procurement, production performance, and marketing strategies of the Cap Jempol Supri Coffee Agroindustry in Kemiling District, Bandar Lampung City.  The research was conducted at the Cap Jempol Supri Coffee Agroindustry located in Kemiling District, Bandar Lampung City, using a case study method.  The respondents included the agroindustry owner, production employees, and packaging employees.  The first objective was analyzed using the 6 Right criteria.  The second objective was analyzed based on eight aspects: productivity, capacity, quality, delivery speed, flexibility, processing speed, packaging process, and production management.  The third objective was analyzed using the 4P method (Product, Price, Place, Promotion).  The results showed that the accuracy of coffee and corn raw material procurement was categorized as good. The lowest score was found in the price indicator because the price obtained did not meet expectations.  Labor productivity was 34.33 kg per workday, machine capacity was 77percent, and product quality reached 85percent. Delivery speed, flexibility, processing speed, packaging process, and production management were also categorized as good based on the analysis.  The agroindustry produces two types of products: blended ground coffee and pure ground coffee, sold in two packaging sizes of 100 grams and 200 grams. The selling price is competitively determined. The products are marketed in Kemiling District and Sukarame District.  Promotion is still carried out through personal selling by directly visiting small shops and wholesale stores to offer ground coffee products for purchase and further distribution. Abstract

This research aims to analyze income farming and comparing the actual condition with the condition that should be in income farming of cassava in Tulang Bawang Tengah district, Tulang Bawang Barat regency.  This research uses a survey method.  This research was intentionally (purposive) in Tulang Bawang Tengah district with the consideration that the location was cassava production center in Tulang Bawang Barat Regency and has a tapioca factory as market location.  Farmer petanits were chosen randomly.  The results showed, there are two cassava marketing channels in Tulang Bawang Barat Regency, namely Channel I (Farmer–Factory) and Channel II (Farmer–Collector–Factory). The majority of farmers (90%) preferred Channel I because it is more efficient and generates higher profits than Channel II, which is used by only 10% of farmers. Cassava farming was profitable under both marketing channels, as indicated by R/C ratio values greater than one. However, Channel I generated higher farm income, amounting to IDR 6,053,909.81 per hectare based on cash costs and IDR 4,202,364.95 per hectare based on total costs, compared with Channel II, which generated only IDR 3,346,204.80 per hectare and IDR 776,610.51 per hectare, respectively. The R/C ratios of Channel I (1.68 and 1.39) were also higher than those of Channel II (1.48 and 1.11). These findings indicate that direct marketing to processing factories is more efficient and provides higher income for farmers than marketing through intermediaries.   Keywords: cassava, income, marketing channel
