Abstract

The community service program conducted by lecturers and students of the Civic Education (PPKn) Undergraduate Program at Gorontalo State University at SMK Negeri 4 Gorontalo aimed to foster students’ awareness and appreciation of diversity values through educational, reflective, and participatory approaches. This program was designed as a strategic effort to strengthen students’ understanding, attitudes, and behaviors toward cultural, religious, and social diversity within the school environment. The implementation method employed a participatory research approach based on observation and the distribution of a diversity questionnaire covering cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. The questionnaire was used to map students’ perceptions of tolerance, solidarity, and attitudes toward differences, which then served as the foundation for organizing interactive activities such as national dialogue sessions. The evaluation results indicated that students of SMK Negeri 4 Gorontalo demonstrated a positive understanding of diversity values, with the majority showing openness, tolerance, and readiness to actively contribute to maintaining unity. Nevertheless, it was found that affective and conative aspects still required reinforcement so that diversity values would not only be understood cognitively but also internalized and practiced in daily life. Overall, this community service activity successfully enhanced multicultural awareness and strengthened students’ national character as young generations committed to unity in diversity.

Abstract

Quality education is influenced by various factors, one of which is the fulfillment of students’ nutritional needs related to learning readiness and concentration. The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a policy aimed at improving students’ nutritional status while supporting the learning process at school. This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of the Free Nutritious Meal Program and its implications for students’ learning concentration at SMP Negeri 8 Gorontalo. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research informants consisted of students as the main informants, as well as teachers and school administrators as supporting informants selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that most students had positive perceptions of the program because it helped reduce hunger during lessons, increased enthusiasm for attending classes, and reduced daily expenses. In addition, the program was considered to contribute to improved focus, classroom participation, and learning endurance during school hours. However, several obstacles were still found, including limited menu variety and meal distribution timing that needs improvement. The implications of this study indicate that fulfilling nutritional needs through school programs can be an effective strategy to improve the quality of learning, therefore continuous evaluation is needed to enhance the implementation of the program.

Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the most important skills needed by Pancasila Education students to face 21st-century challenges. However, teacher-dominated learning methods have hindered students from fully developing these skills. Therefore, this study aims to implement the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Pancasila Education at SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo City to improve critical thinking skills. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages based on Kemmis and McTaggart’s model. The subjects were 20 students. Data were collected through observation, tests, documentation, and field notes, then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The results show that the PjBL model significantly improved critical thinking skills, indicated by the increase in students categorized as high-level thinkers from 24% to 92% by Cycle II. In addition, the average learning outcomes increased from 63.84 to 87.00, while classical completeness reached 92%. These findings indicate that PjBL, emphasizing active learning, collaboration, and project completion, is effective in improving both critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. Therefore, PjBL can be recommended as a differentiated instructional strategy to enhance the quality of Pancasila Education in secondary schools.

Abstract

The aim of this research is the low learning motivation of students in Pancasila and Citizenship Education courses due to teaching methods that are still traditional and less participatory. This research aims to increase student learning motivation by utilizing technology-based learning tools such as Curipod and Quizizz. The two Classroom Action Research (PTK) design cycles used in this research are the planning, action implementation, observation and reflection stages. Class IX.6 students of SMP Negeri 1 Gorontalo City were used as research subjects. Data collection techniques include observation, surveys and recording. Based on the research results, students' learning motivation increased significantly from 64.04% in the pre-cycle to 82.22% in the first cycle and 82.57% in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the use of interactive digital learning materials can increase students' levels of activity, excitement, and engagement. The results of this research show that, despite continuing to emphasize technology readiness and efficient learning management, incorporating technology into the classroom can increase student interest and learning outcomes.
