Abstract

The purposes of Prima Tani Programs are to socialize agricultural innovation and to reinforce participative rural institutions. One of the innovations from Prima Tani in Paleran village, Umbulsari sub district is hybrid rice Adirasa 1. The role of Gapoktan Eka Jaya is supplying and marketing Hybrid rice Adirasa 1 working together with associate company PT. Tri Sari Usahatani as the producer and distributor the seeds of hybrid rice Adirasa 1. The research location is determined by using purposive sampling method on Paleran village, Umbulsari sub district, Jember regency.The product of district is rice good after Prima Tani stay in Paleran. That indicator is technology adoption level of hybrid rice is better than before. The objectives of this study are to know: (1) farmers’ understanding related to Prima Tani programs; (2) technology adoption level of hybrid rice Adirasa 1; (3) farmer characteristic factors related to technology adoption level of hybrid rice Adirasa 1; (4) innovation features related to technology adoption level of hybrid rice Adirasa 1; (5) the institution role of Gapoktan Eka Jaya in supplying and marketing the rice yields with TST through Gapoktan. Abstract

The main problem often faced by the farmers, especially producers of rice farmers now is the low level of sales prices of rice especially during the peak harvest season, because of the environment and the weather is usually in conjunction with the rainy season. Another cause of low grain prices that is small scale rice farming, limited facilities and infrastructure of production and post harvest. Objectives: (1) assess the institutional role of farmers in exchange rates, (2) identify factors driving and inhibiting the dynamics of farmer institutions. The results showed, the exchange rate is influenced farmers age, education, experience, area and status of land management. Institutional conditions that encourage farmers member-owned institution, means of production are met mainly fertilizer and factors inhibiting the limited institutional capital owned by farmers.Key words: institutions, exchange rates, farmers, rice

Abstract

The problem of food security in Indonesia is exacerbated by the high number of poverty in Indonesia. This is exacerbated by the high dependence of the Indonesian rice consumption has increased and the national rice production has decreased. The research objective is to map the village level food security based on the aspects of availability, aspects of food access and livelihoods and access to nutritional health. Methods of determining district purposively sample while the determination of villages using a Multistage Sampling. The study was conducted in Sidoarjo Regency as a regional industrial center, Jember regency as agricultural centers and Banyuwangi Regency as fishery centers.Results obtained from this study are: (1) The villages in Sidoarjo regency 60% in the category of food resistant, and 40% in the category of food insecurity. (2) The villages in Jember regency 57% in the category of food resistant and 43% in the category of food insecurity. (3) Villages Banyuwangi 72% in the category of food resistant and 28% in the category of food insecurity.Key words: mapping, regional, hold food, food security.

Abstract

One of private plantation in Jember is PT. Kaliputih located in Ledokombo that founded since 1966. The Activity conducted by PT. Kaliputih cannot be separated by many problem faced, namely: the weather conditions and uncertain climate, the high fluctuation of the price of coffee, low crop production under normal potency, harvest and post-harvest processing which is less than the maximum. This study aimed (1) to determine the trend of coffee logs production from 2014 to 2024 at PT. Kaliputih Ledokombo Jember, (2) to determine the factors that affect the level of income of ose coffee at PT. Kaliputih Ledokombo Jember, (3) to determine the prospects of development of robusta coffee at PT. Kaliputih Ledokombo Jember. Method of determining the area of research is conducted on purpose (purposive method). The research method used is descriptive, analytic, and correlational. The data collection method in this study using interviews and literature. Data analysis of production trends, multiple linear regression, and SWOT. The results showed that (1) the trend in production period 2014-2024 increased by 5193.28 kg , (2) the factors that significantly affect the earnings of coffee ose at PT. Kaliputih is the amount of production and the selling price, (3) prospects for the development of robusta coffee at PT. Kaliputih is on the position prospective. Abstract

Durian merupakan salah satu jenis buah-buahan yang bergizi tinggi dan mempunyai peluang besar untuk dikembangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan karakterisitik konsumen durian lokal; (2) menganalisis faktor-faktor dominan yang mempengaruhi terhadap preferensi konsumen  buah durian lokal; dan (3) membuat strategi pengembangan minat konsumen terhadap buah durian lokal. Penentuan daerah penelitian secara purposive method yakni di Kabupaten Jember. Metode pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara nonprobability sampling dan incidental sampling. Metode analisis data dengan deskriptif, analisis faktor dan analisis Medan Kekuatan (FFA). Kesimpulan penelitian: (1) Karakteristik konsumen durian lokal berdasarkan kategori: (a) umur mayoritas responden berada pada golongan umur 27-37 tahun dengan proporsi 45,16%, (b) jenis kelamin konsumen mayoritas adalah perempuan dengan jumlah 47 orang (50,54%), (c) pekerjaan, mayoritas bekerja sebagai pegawai swasta dengan jumlah 40 orang atau sebesar 43,01%, (d) tingkat pendidikan, mayoritas berada pada tingkat pendidikan SMP dengan jumlah 60 orang atau sebesar 64,52%, (e) jumlah anggota keluarga, mayoritas memiliki 2 hingga 4 orang dengan proporsi 69%, dan kategori (f) tingkat pendapatan, mayoritas berada pada kategori sedang dengan jumlah responden 48 orang atau sebesar 51,61%. (2) Dari 11 faktor yang mempengaruhi dalam preferensi konsumen memilih buah durian lokal terkategori menjadi 5 faktor yakni: (a) faktor warna kulit buah (hijau-muda, hijau-tua, hijau-cokelat, dan cokelat-tua); (b) faktor panjang duri (pendek, sedang, dan panjang); (c) faktor warna daging cerah (kuning dan merah); (d) faktor tekstur (lembut-basah, lembut-kering/pulen, berkrim, dan berserat); dan (e) faktor rasa buah durian (manis-pahit, manis-legit, manis-sedang, dan kurang manis).

Abstract

Tembakau rajang samporis merupakan tembakau dari persilangan sompor dan moris, di daerah Kecamatan Jelbuk yang sudah terjadi persilangan secara alami namun bagian kedinasan perkebunan dan kehutanan menyebutnya dengan tembakau maesan 1 sementara masyarakat tetap menyebutnya dengan sebutan tembakau samporis.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) pendapatan petani tembakau rajang samporis di Desa Jelbuk Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember; (2) efisiensi biaya usahatani tembakau rajang samporis di Desa Jelbuk Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember; (3) strategi pengembangan usahatani tembakau rajang  samporis di Desa Jelbuk Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember. Penentuan daerah penelitian menggunakan purposive method. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dan analitis. Metode pengambilan contoh menggunakan total sampling dengan responden sebanyak 31 petani. Analisis data menggunakan analisis pendapatan, analisis efisiensi biaya dan analisis SWOT . Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa:(1) usahatani tembakau samporis di Desa Jelbuk Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember adalah menguntungkan dengan rata-rata pendapatan sebesar Rp 2.089.242/ha/musim. (2) Penggunaan biaya produksi pada usahatani tembakau samporis di desa Jelbuk Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember adalah efisien dengan nilai sebesar 1,44. (3) Analisis SWOT pada usahatani tembakau samporis di Desa Jelbuk Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember berada pada posisi White Area (Bidang Kuat-Berpeluang).

Abstract

Agroindustri kacang panggang adalah agroindustri pertama di Jember. CV. TDS Mitra Garuda pengolahkacang panggang pertama yang telah terdaftar di Departemen Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Jember. Sayangnya,agroindustri memiliki beberapa masalah: (1) harga kacang yang berfluktuasi tergantung pada harga pasar (2)keterbatasan dan kelemahan dalam penanganan pasca panen, pengolahan dan pemasaran kacang (3) kegiatan usahayang masih sederhana dan teknologi yang telah digunakan adalah semi modern dan (4) kurangnya perhatian daripemerintah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendapatan, efisiensi biaya, nilai tambah, dan strategi kacangpengembangan bisnis agroindustri kacang panggang dari CV. TDS Mitra Garuda. Memilih lokasi penelitianditentukan dengan metode purposive di CV. TDS Mitra Garuda. Itu menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dananalitik. Metode pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Alat analisis analisispendapatan digunakan, analisis rasio R / C, tambah analisis nilai, dan analisis SWOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan:(1) rata-rata pendapatan di kacang tanah panggang dari CV. TDS Mitra Garuda adalah menguntungkan (2)Penggunaan rata-rata biaya produksi yang efisien (3) kacang Agroindustri kacang tanah panggang CV. TDS MitraGaruda mampu memberikan nilai tambah yang positif dalam bentuk kacang olahan panggang (4) agroindustri kacangtanah panggang dari CV. TDS Mitra Garuda terletak di White Lokasi sehingga strategi yang harus diterapkan adalahstrategi S-O yang berarti untuk mencapai peluang pasar dengan meningkatkan kapasitas produksi, dan memanfaatkanmerek produk untuk memenangkan kepercayaan dari konsumen dan memperluas pemasaran wilayah kacang tanahpanggang.Kata kunci: Efisiensi, Pendapatan, kacang tanah panggang, Pengembangan Strategi, Nilai Tambah

Abstract

Usahatani padi organik di Desa Rowosari Kecamatan Sumberjambe Kabupaten Jember mengalami kendala dari segi peminat. Petani masih beranggapan bahwa pertanian organik rumit dan kurang efisien. Meskipun begitu, masih ada petani yang bertahan melakukan usahatani padi organik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perilaku petani terhadap usahatani padi organik di Desa Rowosari Kecamatan Sumberjambe Kabupaten Jember. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, dan melakukan pendekatan teori Bloom. Metode analisis data pada penelitian ini meliputi tiga alur kegiatan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku petani padi organik sudah memenuhi standar pertanian organik untuk tanaman semusim. Dari segi pengetahuan, petani mengetahui cara-cara pembuatan dan pemberian input organik dalam usahatani padi organik. Dari segi sikap, petani menyetujui dan mampu menerima bahwa usahatani padi organik harus terbebas dari kontaminan kimia mulai dari awal penanaman hingga pasca panen. Dari segi perilaku, petani melakukan kegiatan usahatani padi organik dengan mengikuti standar operasional dan cara-cara penanaman padi organik yang benar dan tidak menambahkan input kimia, baik di on farm maupun off farm.

Abstract

Contract farming (CF) is an important tool to initiate structural transformation of agricultural sector in developing countries. However, one of pertinent problems in its establishment is asymmetric information. This problem creates a condition of mutual distrust between the contracting parties and decreases farmer’s participation in it. Thus, this study aimed to explain the asymmetric information problem in CF and find the correlates of farmer’s participation in it. As one of important industrial crops, this study focused on tobacco CF. This study was conducted at two villages (Antirogo and Nogosari) on two different sub-district (Sumbersari and Rambipuji) in Jember. A sample of 113 farmers were interviewed to collect the data. A descriptive analysis was used to explain the contract arrangement and asymmetric information in tobacco CF. A probit estimation was used to identify the coorelates of farmer’s participation in tobacco CF. The results showed that asymetric information does exists in tobacco CF and can be minimized through intense monitoring and increased transparancy. Both of these are possible when the company contracting directly with farmers. Meanwhile, younger farmer and those with more land are more likely to participate in CF. Furthermore, participation in CF is highly correlated with the increases in farm income. Finally, policy aimed to fostering CF should focused more on regulation that minimize the transaction cost of CF. In addition, in the long term, the policy should focused on incentivize young farmers and encouraging youth to enter agriculture.

Abstract

The revitalization of farmer organizations has become the central paradigm in agricultural development. In Indonesia, increasing farmer participation in farmer groups, associations and cooperatives is the strategy to revitalize farmer organizations. This study aimed to determine the factors influencing farmers' participation in farmer groups, associations and cooperatives. This study employed data from the Sugarcane and Tobacco Plantation Farm Household Survey in 2014, consisting of 8,831 (70.73%) sugarcane farmers and 3,645 (29.27%) tobacco farmers. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors contributing to farmers' participation in each organization. The results showed that harvest area, access to extension and contract farming positively affect farmers’ participation in organizations. Farmers' age and education positively affect their participation in associations and cooperatives but do not significantly affect their group participation. Land tenure has an ununiform effect on farmer participation in each organization. Tenant farmers are less likely to participate in farmer groups and cooperatives, but they tend to participate in associations. Meanwhile, the owner farmers are less likely to join cooperatives. Government support positively influences farmer group participation, shows a negative effect on participation in associations and has a non-significant effect on participation in cooperatives. Finally, farmers' wealth gives a positive effect on their participation in cooperatives, a negative effect on their participation in associations and a non-significant effect on farmer groups. These results depict that farmer groups are more inclusive than cooperatives and associations.
