Abstract

In this study, Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) was synthesized using natrium citrate as a stabilizing agent and ascorbic acid as a reducing agent. The aim of this study is to investigate the optimum condition of creatinine colorimetric detection using silver nanoparticle synthesized. The reaction was carried out at temperature within an alkaline environment with a pH of 10,5. The concentration of reducing and capping agent showed a significant effect to absorption spectra via UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The produced citrate-capped AgNPs exhibited SPR absorbance within the range of 390–410 nm. The detection mechanism relies on the aggregtion of nanoparticles with analytes, resulting in a shift in Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) towards a longer wavelength. The experiment showed that the pH condition of the medium played an essential part in the interaction between creatinine and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Development of creatinine detection methods is based on the ability of tautomerization of creatinine to its anionic amino species at alkaline pH led to cross-linking with the negatively charged AgNPs through hydrogen bond networks, facilitating the aggregation mechanism. This aggregation resulted in particle resulted a color shift from yellow (with a maximum wavelength of 403nm) to dark blue (with a maximum wavelength of 670 nm) within 5 minute of reaction at pH 12. With this strategy, a linear relationship between the A670/A403 extinction ratio and creatinine concentrations was obtained in the range of 10–50μM with a coefficient of determination of 0.935.Keywords: Aggregation; Citrate; Creatinine; Silver nanoparticle; Surface plasmon

Abstract

As a resource, the local cultural value of Batik Jambi with the Sungai Penuh motif is one of the driving forces in the improvement of the economy, capacity, expertise, and reputation of the region. In reality, the development of Batik Jambi with the Sungai Penuh motif is still relatively stagnant. The demand and interest in Batik Jambi with the Sungai Penuh motif have not seen significant growth from year to year. It is can be attributed to several issues, one of which is the lack of knowledge and skills regarding innovation in batik making, resulting in no distinguishing features compared to other batik motifs from the archipelago. As a solution to this problem, training and mentoring should be provided to members of the Batik community in Sungai Penuh City to innovate the Batik products they produce. The innovation introduced in this program involves the use of photochromic dyes. The basis of photochromic dyeing is the phenomenon of reversible color change induced by light in photochromic molecules, causing the molecules to exist in two different forms. These two different forms of molecules result in different colors. Practically observed, photochromic dyeing causes the applied batik products to change color when exposed to sunlight (color-changing - sun activated).

Abstract

Abstract

The need for clean water for the citizens of Jambi City still remains a serious problem until now. Ironically, for the past five years, the difficulty of fulfilling the need for clean water in some areas of Jambi City is even more alarming. The supply of tap water to the citizen’s houses is still not smooth. So as an alternative, citizens use ground water as a source of water. However, the groundwater obtained is still cloudy and smelly, and the flow of water causes the formation of the crust on the bathroom wall. This will certainly hamper the productivity and the economy of the citizens. Efforts are needed to overcome this problem so that people can get clean water. In this program, conducted a counseling or socialization on the way of water treatment from well water. This community service program aims to share knowledge about how to conduct water purification process to the community so that citizens can consume clean water. In this program, performed demonstration of a simple water purifier using Rapid Sand Filter method in the presence of zeolite and activated carbon that will maximize the water purification process.

Abstract

The use of activated carbon in Indonesia is increasingly expanding in line with the increasing demand for activated carbon, so it is necessary to develop activated carbon preparation using many raw materials and activators. Activated carbon from the shell of  rubber fruit using H3PO4 as activator has been synthesized  for adsorption of Pb (II) metal ion. The objective of this research is to find out the best concentration of H3PO4 activator on the activation of activated carbon of rubber shell, to know its ability as Pb (II) metal ion absorbent in solution and to know the characteristics of activated carbon. Parameters observed included activator concentration, pH and initial concentration of adsorbate. The results showed that the optimum activator concentration on preparation of activated carbon from the rubber shell was H3PO4 20% with the Pb(II)efficiency adsorption of 98,20%, while the optimum pH found at 4 with the adsorption capacity of 87,48% . The adsorption capacity increases with the concentration of adsorbate up to 30,73 mg/g at a concentration of 175 ppm. Activated carbon from rubber shell activated with H3PO4 has moisture content 9,22%, moisture content of 23,53%, ash content of 10,27% and carbon bonded 66,20% fulfilling the requirements of SNI 06-3730-1995 . The results of morphological analysis and carbon constituents using SEM-EDX showed that activated carbon contained 93,91% carbon element and Pb element concentration contained in activated carbon after adsorption of 1,13%.
