Abstract

The objectives of this research were study the effect of addition succinic acid on inhibiting of stainless steel corrosion in sulfuric acid solution. The stainless steel sample sieved and macerated in sulfuric acid solution with concentration of 0.01; 0.02; 0.03; 0.04 and 0.05 M for 24, 48 and 72 hours. The corrosion rate and inhibitor efficiency were evaluated with Asdim and Widharto method. The result showed that corrosion rate of with different concentration higher with increasing of concentration of sulfuric acid. The corrosion rate of stainless steel was higher of 0.3716 mg/cm2 hours at concentration of 0.05 M. However, the addition of succinic acid with different concentration of 1 x 10-3; 2 x 10-3; 4 x ; 4 x 10-3 ; 5 x 10-3 M, relative corrosion rate gave lower. The inhibitor efficiency in succinic acid was 60.60% at concentration 5 x 10-3 for 24 hours. It is concluded that succinic acid having inhibition effect on stainless steel corrosion.

Abstract

Karbon aktif banyak digunakan dalam dunia industri terutama dalam pengolahan air. Bahan baku karbon aktif cukup banyak yaitu dari biomassa, salah satunya cangkang kelapa sawit. Alasan menggunakakan Cangkang kelapa sawit dikarenakan mengandung kandungan karbon yang cukup tinggi dan terdapat di alam yang cukup melimpah. karbon aktif dibuat beberapa tahap yang pertama yaitu proses pemanasan permukaan, dehidrasi, karbonisasi, aktivasi dan penetralan juga pengeringan. Penelitian ini menggunakan zat aktivator ZnCl2 dengan variabel konsentrasi larutan 5N, 7,5 N dan 10 N. Hasil penelitian yang paling baik dan memenuhi standar mutu SII No.0258-79 yaitu dengan larutan activator 10N yaitu kadar air 2,001 %, Kadar zat menguap 15,004%, kadar abu 8,888%, Fixed Carbon 74,107%.

Abstract

Pupuk yang banyak digunakan saat ini oleh masyarakat dan petani yaitu pupuk kimia. Pupuk kimia biasanya dapat merusak tanah dan mengganggu keseimbangan hara. Pada penelitian ini mencari alternatif pengganti pupuk kimia yang ramah lingkungan dan tidak merusak unsur hara. MOL (mikroorganisme lokal) merupakan pengganti pupuk kimia dari bahan organik. MOL terbuat dari bahan baku biji karet dimana biji karet tersebut merupakan salah satu limbah yang banyak ditemukan di Provinsi Jambi. Pada MOL biji karet diproses secara fermentasi selama 14 hari menggunakan ragi. Variable penelitian yang digunakan yaitu dengan memvariasikan jumlah ragi, air cucian beras dan air kelapa. Ragi yang digunakan yaitu 0,3 gram 0,4 gram dan 0,5 gram, sedangkan air cucian beras 300 ml. 400 ml dan 500 ml, dan air kelapa 500 ml. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu dengan range pH yaitu 3,66–3,94, kandungan C Organik yaitu 2,48%-2,88% dan kandungan N total yaitu 0,169%-0,447 %.

Abstract

Adsorbent magnetite-dimercapto-silica (Fe3O4 - DMS) is a synthesis of magnetite with 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanol which has been applied to adsorb anions [AuCl4] - and [Cr2O7]-2. The adsorption process of metal anion [AuCl4]- at pH 5 with a contact time of 100 minutes was found optimum results at an adsorption capacity of 77.58 mg/g and an adsorption efficiency value of 96.975%. While the optimum conditions of metal anion [Cr2O7]-2 after the adsorption process at pH 4 with a contact time of 90 minutes was found an adsorption capacity of 85.0426 mg/g and an adsorption efficiency value of 85.0426%. The adsorption efficiency of metal anions [AuCl4]- is higher than the adsorption efficiency of metal anions [Cr2O7] -2

Abstract

Preparation and characterization of magnetite Fe3O4-palm shell activated carbon composite has been carried out as an adsorbent of phenol compounds. Composites were preparation using the co-precipitation  method by mixing Fe3O4 magnetite and suspension of activated carbon in water at 2:1 ratio by co-precipitation method. The functional groups, morphology and magnetization of the composites were characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX and VSM. The XRD characterization result showed that the irregular activated carbon diffraction pattern on the composite showed that the carbon structure was amorphous and the peak was typical of Fe3O4 at an angle of 2θ 35.3961˚ with the distance of the diffraction plane or d = 2.53387Ǻ. VSM characterization shows the magnetic properties of magnetite are super paramagnetic with the resulting magnetization value of 15.93 emu/g, the remanence value (Mr) is 1.79 emu/g and the coercivity value (Hc) is 131.64 Oe. Adsorbent used for phenol adsorption with optimum at pH 6 with adsorption capacity was       6.71 mg/g, 120 minute contact time with adsorption capacity was 9.63 mg/g and the amount of phenol absorbed reached equilibrium a concentration of 300 mg/L of phenol with an adsorption capacity is 58.6 mg/g. The kinetics parameter showed that the adsorption followed pseudo second-order model.

Abstract

Peningkatan pencemaran limbah plastik menyebababkan masalah serius, sehingga dibutuhkan suatu inovasi untuk mengganti plastik dengan bahan yang lebih ramah lingkungan, namun tetap memiliki kualitas sepadan. Pemanfaatan bioplastik merupakan alternative pengganti plastik yang ramah lingkungan.Pada penelitian ini digunakan bahan penguat bioplastik dari selulosapelepah sawit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwakomposisi penggunaan pati umbi gadung dan mikrofibril selulosa pelepah sawit yang baik yaitu komposisi 6gr:15% dimana komposisi ini menunjukan persentase yang baik terhadap sifat bioplastik dimana komposisi ini menghasilkan persentase hidrofobisitasnya sebesar 60%, degradability 33%.

Abstract

Activated carbon has been widely used in everyday life. One of them is in water purification. Materials for making activated carbon have been made and researched. Coal is one of the materials that can be processed into activated carbon. The availability of coal in Indonesia is quite abundant and has the potential to be used as activated carbon. The coal used is lignite. This coal is categorized as light coal where its use is only used as fuel in industry. It is hoped that the activated carbon from this coal will become an alternative source of coal use in Indonesia. Activated carbon from coal uses a variable concentration of 0.5 M, 1 M, 1.5 M, 2 M, 2.5 M, 3 M with HCL activator solution. It is hoped that the results of this study are in accordance with the quality standard of SNI 06-3730-1995.
