Abstract

Abstract

The cause of ARI is influenced by environmental conditions that do not meet health requirements which can be a source of disease transmission based on the environment, the transmission of ARI disease can be caused by a dirty environment that affects the occurrence of ARI disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of ARI in toddlers in the Sumarorong Health Center Working Area, Sumarorong District, Mamasa Regency. The type of research used in this study was analytical observational with a Cross Sectional approach, with a sample of 89 toddlers. Data processing was carried out using the Chi Square Test. The results showed that the data of the house cleanliness variable obtained X2hitung = 10.482 with p = 0.001 <0.05, the data of the temperature variable obtained X2hitung = 11.871 with p = 0.001 <0.05, the data of the humidity variable obtained X2hitung = 18.613 with p = 0.001 <0.05 and the data of the ventilation variable X2hitung = 13.315 with p = 0.001 <0.05 means that these four variables have a significant relationship to the incidence of ARI. The conclusion in this study is that the variables studied have a significant relationship to the incidence of ARI, namely the variables of house cleanliness, temperature, humidity and ventilation. It is expected that mothers who have toddlers should pay more attention to the cleanliness of their environment. Keywords: ARI incidence; House Cleanliness; Temperature; Humidity; Ventilation

Abstract

Determination of water quality status based on the pollution index method. Water said to polluted if it cannot use according to its standard designation. The purpose of this research is to identify and find out the level of pollution contained in shallow well water used by communities in urban areas. Water quality index measurements using the Storet Method. This study uses ten samples with techniques Purposive random sampling with well water sources used by people in Makassar, especially in Untia Sub-District, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The number of samples used was 15 water samples taken each week with a total of 10 shallow well water sample points. The parameters measured in the study are Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Total Coliforms, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). The results of the study showed that the condition of shallow well water quality classified in category D, which heavily polluted which means it not recommended to use before filtering. The increase in parameters that have exceeded the maximum quality standard comes from natural sources and high domestic waste from community activities. Water pollution is a condition in which a water reservoir changes due to human activity — the change caused by the entry of substances that should not be in the water.

Abstract

Blacksmithing is part of the informal sector that continues to thrive amidst modern industrial development, especially in culturally rich regions such as Tikala District, North Toraja Regency. This sector not only supports the local economy but also represents a vital aspect of cultural identity. However, blacksmithing requires intense physical effort, which may lead to physical fatigue among workers. The aim of this study was to identify the factors associated with physical fatigue among blacksmith workers in Tikala District. This research employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 78 respondents were selected using random sampling from 12 blacksmithing sites. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire, as well as direct measurements of workplace temperature, age, work duration, and pre-existing medical conditions. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between independent variables and physical fatigue. Univariate analysis showed that 21 respondents (26.9%) experienced physical fatigue. The Chi-Square test results indicated a significant relationship between physical fatigue and environmental temperature (p=0.007), age (p=0.009), work duration (p=0.039), and pre-existing medical conditions (p=0.004). These factors contributed to the increased risk of physical fatigue among blacksmith workers. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between temperature, age, work duration, and pre-existing medical conditions and the occurrence of physical fatigue among blacksmith workers in Tikala District, North Toraja Regency. Therefore, it is recommended for future researchers to explore other variables such as workload, nutritional status, rest duration, or ergonomic factors to gain a more comprehensive understanding of physical fatigue.
