Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII A students with the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model on the triangle material at SMP Taman Dewasa Ibu Pawiyatan Yogyakarta. This type of research is classroom action research, while the method in this research is quantitative by collecting data through documents and tests. The subjects of this study were 21 students of class VII-A. The test instruments used were the pretest and posttest (evaluation questions in cycle I and cycle II) consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions. The data analysis technique of the mathematics learning achievement test was carried out by calculating the class average score. The results showed that there was an increase in mathematics learning achievement. This is indicated by an increase in the average percentage of student mathematics learning outcomes which increased from an average initial value of 48.33 to 67.86 in the first cycle and in the second cycle to 75.93. So it can be concluded that the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII A students on triangle material.

Abstract

The problem behind the holding of these abdimas is the need to increase teachers' performance in the ability to write scientific works. The scientific work of teachers is needed for the fulfillment of one of the conditions of promotions. Abdimas aims to: provide knowledge to teachers about the rules of scientific article writing technique; provide services and assistance to teachers, how to develop articles from research reports; guide teachers in the process of submitting articles in national journals. The methods in this abdimas are of several types: video conferences, discussions, and practices. The lecture was conducted at the beginning of the socialization of abdimas activities. This activity was held from the end of July to the end of August 2021. There were 9 teachers who were participants in the implementation of these abdimas. Initial socialization is done through video conferences, and teachers are able to improve the content of draft articles that have been compiled. Assistance services during the period between socialization to submission, done using email (Gmail), Google Drive, and WhatsApp application. Discussions were conducted during the assistance activities of article preparation, and practice methods were used when teachers submitted in OJS Jurnal ARISEN (Nasional). Applications used in performing this abdimas include Zoom, Gmail, Google Drive, and WhatsApp (WAG). Abdimas activities carried out have hit the expected target.

Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) have shown significant results in increasing students’ mathematical skill. In a meta-analysis involving 17 studies, the results show that PBL significantly increases the students’ mathematical skills. The results of the fixed and random effects analysis show that the overall coefficient model and the residual heterogeneity are significant. The coefficient estimation for the intercept within the model is 71.872, which shows that when all independent variables are worth to zero, the dependent variable is worth estimated to 71.872. A very small p-value (< 0.001) indicates that the results are statistically very significant. The models have a good fit with the observational data, but it could not explain the variation between studies. There is a high level of heterogeneity among studies and there is not any indication of publication bias in the analysis. Thus, the results show that PBL basically can increase the students’ mathematical skills. However, it is necessary to consider other factors that can influence the results.

Abstract

Scientific publication in reputable international journals is a key requirement for the graduation of postgraduate students in Indonesia. Although this policy aims to enhance research quality, many students face challenges in fulfilling these requirements. This study aims to explore the scientific publication practices of postgraduate students and identify the difficulties they encounter in the publication process. The research method employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with postgraduate students selected using purposive sampling, and analyzed using ATLAS.ti 22 software. The findings reveal that the requirement to publish in Scopus-indexed journals with a minimum Q3 rating, as well as the obligation to include the supervisor and co-supervisor as authors, presents significant challenges for students. The difficulties faced include structuring articles properly, developing the research gap, determining the novelty of the research, and using appropriate academic language. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of more intensive support from higher education institutions in providing technical and pedagogical guidance to help students overcome these challenges and better prepare them to meet international publication standards.
