Abstract

A professional tour guide is regarded as a front-liner of the tourism and the ambassador of his/her country. Therefore, the performance of a tour guide is very important as a quality assurance of services in order to fulfil the tourists’ satisfaction. This study aims at investigating the mastery level of the tour guide’s Russian language related to the quality assurance of uniform services in meeting the tourists’ satisfaction. By applying a descriptive qualitative research, the data was collected through observation, interview, and document review. The theory used to undertake this study is communicative competence (grammar, sociolinguistics, and communicative strategic). The study reveals that the mastery of Russian language for a professional tour guide has been proven to meet the expectation of Russian tourists to get the excellent service as a quality assurance to provide the tourist satisfaction so that products prepared by travel agents and purchased by the tourist are carried out properly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the employee to the performance of employees in the front office department in serving the guests. This study uses survey method using primary data in this case is front office employees and secondary data sourced from companies and books of literature. The sampling technique in this research is Saturated Sampling Technique with the number of small relative population, less than 30 people. In this study population of 29 employees, all front office department at White Rose Kuta Resort Villas & Spa will be used as respondents by using saturated sampling technique. The related problem is how to apply the performance of front office department employee in serving guest at White Rose Kuta Resort Villas & Spa.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of tourism in conserving the natural environment in Pohsanten village, Jembrana regency, Bali province in Indonesia. It is developed based on review of publications, observation and direct participation during a community-based tourism (CBT) development and a trekking route development. The trekking to the waterfall is used as a main attraction by Pohsanten CBT. Mesehe waterfall trekking reinforces forest conservation as it is incorporated re-forestation; potentially creates additional work opportunities for locals, hence, a sustainable source of income; and tourism activities in the forest prevent illegal actions conducted in the forest that damage the environment. Thus, Mesehe waterfall trekking is an inclusive activity of conservation and business combined. It is expected that this article could enrich academic discourse on natural tourism and conservation, particularly involving CBT that use natural environment as attraction.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the application of standard operational procedures by front office departments in The Haven Bali Seminyak to improve guest satisfaction and to know the implementation of SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) that need to be improved and maintained by front office department. There are 15 SOP that are divided into 3 SOP namely GSA, GRO and BSA. Respondents in this research are 10 of the management ranks in the Front Office Department of The Haven Bali Seminyak. This research uses quantitative descriptive analysis technique using Likert scale 5 level. The data obtained were processed using the technique of descriptive statistic. In this study, the entire implementation of standard operational procedures by the department of front office shows that the implementation is fully implemented, although from 15 existing SOP, there are 4 SOP that need to be upgraded: welcome greetings, VIP check-in and check-out guest handling, luggage storage, and baggage arrival. Therefore, the company needs to provide training with the approach and training method by using the standard operational procedure themseves so that the services provided can satisfy the guests.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship and influence of the Chinese market Average Daily Rate (ADR) on the overall ADR at Conrad Bali Hotel. Data collection used in this study through observation, interview, and documentation. The analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, simple linear regression, and the coefficient of determination test (R2). The results of this study indicated that the Chinese market ADR (X) variable has a positive correlation with very strong category, overall ADR with a correlation value of 0.819. The coefficient regression is 1.085 and the coefficient determination shows that the influence of Chinese market ADR (X) on overall ADR (Y) is 66%. Thus, Chinese market can be an option to filling the occupancy when low seasons and a good target market when special occasion but should be followed by a necessary way to optimize its strength.

Abstract

This paper reporting the service aspect of luxurious tourism, is a part of a broader study identifying elements constitute luxurious travels. It is a qualitative study involved 48 respondents who are members of 7 different Facebook travel groups. Data collection was conducted by posting a discussion topic on luxury travels to the Facebook groups. It is identified that service of luxurious tourism products is premium and personalized, wherein VIP handling is not a special service, rather a basic standard that needs to be met for elite customers. It is the ability to satisfy customers beyond expectation, exclusive supreme products only few people can afford, which is not easy to be provided. Nevertheless, above and beyond the design and the delivery of the exclusive high quality services and after performing the very best effort; luxurious service sometimes means serving customers with heart and sincerity reaching the human side of people; meeting the needs of high class customers intuitively, when facing and anticipating matters beyond human control. It is expected that the analysis could enrich the discourse on luxurious tourism products, assist in resolving the puzzle of a perfect service, perfecting the imperfect.

Abstract

This article discusses accommodation supporting geotourism in Batur Geotourism Site in Bangli Regency, Bali Province in Indonesia. The purpose of the study is to identify the type and standard of accommodation available in Batur. It used a qualitative approach using a combination of interview and observation as data collection techniques. Interviews were carried out with a total of 30 respondents consisting of: the lodging providers, community members and community leaders, which were conducted at the location of each property in the tourist destination of Batur. The results showed that there were four types on accommodation available in Batur, such as: homestay, villa/guest-house, two – three-star hotel, and boutique hotel. It is expected that the results of the study could be used as a reference by geotourism stakeholders in providing accommodation services, especially for the overnight-visitors in Batur. Academically, the implication of the research results enriches the existing studies on tourism, especially those associated with accommodation on Geotourism.

Abstract

Hampir semua UKM mendapatkan masalah dalam mengembangkan usahanya yaitu : masalah modal, tenaga kerja, kratifitas, teknologi, produksi dan pemasaran. Demikian juga dengan UKM Bunga Kering yang menjadi binaan IBm mempunyai beberapa kendala sebagai berikut : proses pengeringannya dilakukan menggunakan cara tradisional yaitu dengan cara menjemur dibawah sinar matahari. Produksi bunga kering selama ini dilakukan dengan bantuan peralatan pres sederhana yang dirancang sendiri, pemasaran dan administrasi. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk membantu proses produksi khususnya dalam pengeringan bahan baku berupa alat pengering, meningkatkan pengetahuan serta keterampilan dalam mengelola usahanya khususnya bidang manajemen, administrasi, dan pemasaran. Pelaksanaan aktivitas pengabdian kepada masyarakat melalui program Iptek bagi Masyarakat didahului dengan sosialisasi sebagai upaya pendekatan antara pelaksana dengan pihak UKM pengerajin bunga kering dengan harapan akan terjalin hubungan kerja yang baik yang dilandasi oleh kepentingan yang sama yaitu untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas bunga kering. Program pengabdian IBm Bunga Kering ini telah berhasil mempercepat proses produksi yang kalau dikeringkan dengan sinar matahari memerlukan waktu pengeringan antara 1 s/d 7 hari. Dengan sentuhan teknologi tepat guna (alat pengering) memerlukan waktu 1s/d 3 hari. Untuk pengeringan tahap 2 (setelah pewarnaan) sebelumnya diperlukan waktu 1,5 s/d 3 hari, setelah bantuan alat pengering diperlukan waktu hanya 2 s/d 8 jam. Keterampilan dan pengetahuan mitra binaan juga bertambah setelah diberikan bebagai pelatihan yang meliputi : pelatihan pemasaran, administrasi dan keuangan serta bisnis. Strategi yang direkomendasikan adalah : UKM binaan ini perlu dikembangkan untuk menembus pasar eksport, sehingga perlu dilanjutkan dalam program IBPE dan perlu dilakukan pelatihan ekstra karena keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam internet.

Abstract

Mitra sasaran program PPM ini adalah masyarakat dan pengelola pariwisata di Desa Wisata Belimbing yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Pupuan Kabupaten Tabanan Bali. Desa ini baru ditetapkan sebagai desa wisata tepatnya bulan oktober tahun 2014, memiliki banyak potensi wisata seperti, air terjun, warisan budaya, alam, aktraksi wisata seperti pembuatan gula merah, kue dan makanan tradisional yang ada di desa. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan program pemberdayaan ini adalah untuk memberdayakan masyarakat terutama dalam mengelola potensi wisata yang ada melalui pelatihan dan penyajian menu welcome drink dari bahan baku lokal, penataan rute trekking, pelatihan pembuatan dan penyajian breakfast, pelatihan bahasa inggris praktis dan pembuatan buku percakapan praktis untuk pemilik rumah yang desewakan kepada tamu, pembuatan dan pemasaran paket wisata. Dengan adanya program pemberdayaan ini diharapkan bisa membantu meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi para pelaku wisata dan anggota kelompok sadar wisata di desa Belimbing dan dapat memberikan pelayanan yang memuaskan, yang nantinya diharapkan para wisatawan, untuk kedepannya lebih banyak mengunjungi desa Belimbing baik untuk trekking maupun untuk menginap di sarana akomudasi yang ada di desa Belimbing peningkatan keahlian dan keterampilan para ibu PKK desa Belimbing dalam pembuatan welcome drink dan breakfast serta peningkatan kualitas layanan yang diberikan kepada wisatawan yang berkunjung ke desa Belimbing, dan peningkatan kemampuan manajemen para pengelola jalur trekking dalam menciptakan jalur trekking yang lebih tertata dengan baik yang dapat memberikan kenyamanan dan keamanan bagi wisatawan yang travelling ke desa Belimbing. Sedangkan manfaat yang diperoleh dari pelatihan ini berupa: 1) dapat memperkaya kemampuan intelektual demi meningkatkan kompetensi saat memasuki dunia kerja terutama menyikapi perkembangan pariwista di desa Belimbing, 2) dapat mengembangkan produk wisata kreatif yang efektif yang ditawarkan kedepannya dengan memanfaatkan bahan lokal dan potensi yang ada di desa 3) dapat membantu para penglola jalur trekking untuk mengembangkan jalur trekking dengan desain yang lebih etraktif

Abstract

Program Iptek bagi Masyarakat (IbM) ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan dalam pengelolaan trekking Gunung Agung. Program ini dilakukan melalui: pelatihan manajemen usaha, pembuatan standard operational prosedure (SOP) perizinan mendaki, dan SOP pendakian Gunung Agung; pelatihan produk tambahan memanfaatkan sumber daya alam (SDA) dan sumber daya manusia (SDM) setempat sebagai upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat; serta pelatihan pemasaran secara online melalui website “balimountagung.com”. Kabupaten Karangasem terletak di ujung timur Pulau Bali. Wilayahnya sebagian besar kering dan termasuk kabupaten termiskin di Bali. Wilayah kering tersebut sebagian besar berada di daerah Gunung Agung. Akan tetapi, wilayah sekitar Gunung Agung memiliki pesona yang luar biasa. Di samping sebagai kiblat spiritualitas umat Hindu, juga sebagai objek wisata. Kepopuleran Gunung Agung sebagai objek wisata trekking sudah terkenal sejak dahulu. Hal ini disebabkan karena Gunung Agung adalah gunung yang tertinggi di Bali dan tergolong masih aktif. Namun, sayang sekali tidak bisa ditemukan data yang akurat tentang jumlah pendakian sampai saat ini yang dilakukan wisatawan petualang pada kelompok usaha wisata trekking di Desa Selat, termasuk juga pada aparat pemerintahan tingkat desa dan kecamatan. Hal tersebut menjadi alasan utama program pengabdian ini. Desa Selat termasuk wilayah Kabupaten Karangasem, Propinsi Bali. Dari hasil wawancara dengan pelaku usaha wisata di desa tersebut tanggal 20 April 2013 dapat disimpulkan bahwa sesungguhnya objek wisata Gunung Agung memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bagi wisatawan petualang. Pangsa pasar wisata trekking Gunung Agung yang tercatat sampai saat ini adalah Eropa, Amerika Serikat, dan Kanada. Tantangan dan keindahan jalur trekking Gunung Agung sudah dikenal di kalangan wisatawan petualang mancanegara. Pengelolaan usaha trekking ini masih lemah dan belum dirasakan manfaatnya oleh masyarakat di desa tersebut. Hal ini terjadi karena masyarakat kurang mampu menangkap peluang yang ada.
