Abstract

Macro algae in West Nusa Tenggara are potential in types and quantities. One of the types that have only been economically used is seaweed, such as Eucheuma cottonii, Eucheuma spinosum, Eucheuma striatum and Gracillaria sp. In general, all macro algae can be used for various purposes such as pharmacy, agriculture, livestock, and food ingredient. Macro algae commonly have the growth hormones and contain primary and secondary metabolites. The growth hormones in macro algae are called cytokinin, auxin and absicic acids. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of macro algae extracts to the growth of Eucheuma cottonii. This study was carried out in Ekas Bay, Ekas Buana Village, Jerowaru District, of East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, between May to September 2016. Eucheuma cottonii was cultivated on the 8 m X 8 m size of longline and 40 ris of load. Spacing between ris was 1 m and distance between clumps was 25 cm. Cultivation was carried out by using Eucheuma cottonii seed with average weight of 100 g and weighing was carried out every 7 days. Macro algae used as extract included Sargassum aquifolium, Ulva sp. and Turbinaria sp. Extracts were put into immersion at 5% concentration. The parameters measured were the absolute growth and Specific Growth Rate of Eucheuma cottonii, and the water quality. The results showed that the addition of macro alga extracts significantly affected the growth of Eucheuma cottonii.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat dengan khalayak buruh wanita pengangkut pasir di Desa Marong Jamaq Kelurahan Karang baru Kecamatan Selaparang, Kota Mataram, telah selesai dilaksanakan. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah menumbuhkan dan mengasah keterampilan membuat produk dekoratif berbahan dasar sampah plastik kresek, memotivasi warga untuk mengembangkan kreativitas dan membuat usaha mandiri berbasis keterampilan mengolah sampah plastik kresek. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan Focus Group Discussion, yang mencakup pelatihan, pembinaan dan evaluasi untuk memantau keberhasilan kegiatan menggunakan metode observasi. Materi yang disampaikan meliputi bahaya sampah plastik kresek bagi kesehatan dan lingkungan, upaya penanganan sampah plastik kresek skala rumah tangga, melatih pembiasaan dalam menciptakan lingkungan bersih, alternatif pemanfaatan sampah plastik kresek, aneka olahan sampah plastik kresek menjadi bahan dekoratif. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini, sebanyak 100% peserta memahami materi yang disampaikan, sebanyak 85% peserta memahami cara pembuatan bahan dekoratif dari sampah plastik kresek, sebanyak 95% peserta termotivasi untuk menerapkan dan mengembangkan aneka model produk dekoratif, dan sebanyak 90% peserta termotivasi untuk memasarkan produk dekoratif yang telah dibuat.

Abstract

The resident's yard of Gelangsar Village generally has not been used optimally. In some parts of the yard are overgrown with shrubs whose benefits are not yet known. This program aims to introduce yard management methods that can provide economic benefits, namely the innovation of flowering plant gardens to support honey bee cultivation. The method used in this program is socialization and the formation of a pilot project. The socialization focused on introducing the arrangement of the yard with flowering plants. The pilot project was made on the land of one of the partner residents. In this pilot project, innovations in planting flowering plants with vertical garden and honey bee cultivation methods are applied. Through this pilot method, it is hoped that the people of Gelangsar Village can apply the innovations offered independently. This program has been successfully implemented. Partner residents are willing to apply the innovation of a combination of flowering plant gardens and honey bee cultivation.

Abstract

Abstract. Several problems related to the use of chemical fertilizers are fertilizer prices that continue to increase, in certain situations there is a shortage of fertilizers and continuous use can reduce the population of soil microorganisms. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide counseling and training on the manufacture of liquid organic fertilizer from plant waste using EM4 activator to the youth of Ubung Village, Jonggat District. The method of activity is lectures and practice of making liquid fertilizer, harvesting fertilizer products and packaging. The activity has been carried out in accordance with the plans and stages that have been set, and liquid fertilizer has been produced which is packaged in plastic bottles. The physical characteristics of the liquid fertilizer produced after 20 days of the fermentation process showed results that met the criteria as a good liquid organic fertilizer, namely temperature 28oC, pH 4, brownish yellow color and smelled of tape. Liquid fertilizer has been distributed to target residents and used as plant fertilizer. Through this activity, the youth of Ubung Village who are participants have succeeded in making liquid organic fertilizer based on plant waste and have applied it as fertilizer to their plants. Abstract

Title : The Optimization of Bayan District Dry Land –North Lombok Used The Immobilized Humic Acid in Seaweed as Fertilizer Supplement  for Maize Plant (Zea Mays L). A study on optimization of dry land used the immobilized humic acid in seaweed as fertilizer supplement for maize plant (Zea Mays L) has been done in Bayan District North Lombok Regency Nusa Tenggara Barat Province. It was known that humic acid could increase availability and uptake of nutrient (N, P, K and Corganic) at maize plant in dry land of Bayan District. It was needed a modification technique that lower quantity of humic acid using without diminishing it’s utility, by immobilized humic acid in seaweed. Research design began with the preparation of immobilized humic acid in seaweed via entrapment technique (gel) and covalent bending (liquid). Immobilization result was characterized by infrared spectrophotometer. Agircultural land was mapped according to number of treatments, then each of them was analized physical and chemical properties before planting was done. Bayan agricultural land has sandy and loose texture, reddish brown colour, and neutral acidity (pH 6.97 at depth of 0-20 cm and a pH of 6.80 at depth of 21-40 cm). It has low availability nutrient of soil (Corganic, N, P, K) at 0-20 cm depth and 21-40 cm respectively are 2.950% and 2.860%, 0.067% and 0.076%, 0.001% and 0.004 %, 0.310% and 0.390%. While the cation exchange capacity value at a depth of 0-20 cm and 21-40 cm respectively are 20.95 and 22.16 me. Based on FTIR spectra, humic acid can be immobilized on seaweed as evidenced by absorption shift, especially in the carboxylic acid and amine groups. Humic acid was able to increase nutrient availability and uptake at maize plant through it’s ability in binding, adsorbing and exchanging nutrients. Application of humic acid in soil showed increasing of plant growth (plant height, weight and nutritional value of corn). Availability and uptake of N, P and K are highest in treatment 0.1% humic acid immobilized on seaweed 100 kg ha-1 (gel) and 0.1% humic acid immobilized in seaweed (liquid) with fertilizer 100% NPK dose.

Abstract

Abstrak: Rumput laut merupakan komoditi laut yang memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi, karena kandungan senyawa hidrokoloid seperti karagenan, agar dan alginat. Oleh sebab itu, pemerintah mengembangkan kawasan Minapolitan sebagai pusat budidaya rumput laut. Salah satu kawasan minapolitan tersebut adalah sentra budidaya rumput laut Teluk Ekas. Pengembangan budidaya rumput laut pada beberapa tahun terakhir memiliki banyak masalah, salah satunya adalah ketersediaan bibit. Oleh sebab itu,  perlu dilakukan transfer ilmu pengetahuan dan keterampilan melalui program IPTEK bagi masyarakat dengan memberikan pendampingan kepada kelompok tani Pasir Putih yang ada di Desa Ekas, Lombok Timur. Tujuan pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mewujudkan Desa Ekas Buana sebagai lumbung bibit rumput laut Nusa Tenggara Barat. Untuk mewujudkan tujuan tersebut dilakukan berbagai pendekatan diantaranya (1) Memberikan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat tentang teknologi budidaya yang akan diterapkan, (2) Membuat demplot percobaan, (3) Analisa hasil demplot dan (4) Pendampingan kelompok mitra. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan yang dilakukan terhadap kelompok tani Pasir Putih mampu menginisiasi Desa Ekas Buana sebagai lumbung bibit rumput laut Nusa Tenggara Barat. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan pemenuhan permintaan bibit oleh petani lain di Teluk Ekas. Selain itu, hasil panen rumput laut dapat memenuhi permintaan sentra budidaya lain seperti Teluk Serewe, Gerupuk dan Pengantap. Abstract: Seaweed is a marine commodity that has high economic value, due to the content of hydrocolloid compounds such as carrageenan, agar, and alginate. Therefore, the government is developing a Minapolitan area as a center for seaweed cultivation. One of the Minapolitan areas is the Ekas Bay seaweed cultivation center. The development of seaweed cultivation in recent years has had many problems, one of which is the availability of seeds. Therefore, a knowledge and skill transfer was carried out through a science and technology program for the community by assisting the Pasir Putih farmer groups in Ekas Village, East Lombok. The purpose of this service is to realize Ekas Buana Village as a granary for seaweed seeds in West Nusa Tenggara. To achieve this goal, various approaches were carried out including (1) Providing socialization to the community about the cultivation technology to be applied, (2) Creating experimental demonstration plots, (3) Analyzing the results of the demonstration plot and (4) Assisting partner groups. The results of this community service show that the assistance provided to the Pasir Putih farmer group was able to initiate Ekas Buana Village as a granary for seaweed seedlings in West Nusa Tenggara. This is evidenced by the fulfillment of the demand for seeds by other farmers in Ekas Bay. Besides, the seaweed harvest can meet the demands of other cultivation centers such as Teluk Serewe, Gerupuk, and Pengantap.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra pengabdian tentang teknik kultur jaringan tanaman. Kegiatan pelatihan dibagi menjadi 2 sesi yaitu sesi pertama, penyampaian materi tentang konsep dasar kultur jaringan, kebutuhan peralatan dan bahan, media, zat pengatur tumbuh, kondisi lingkungan tumbuh, tahapan kultur jaringan dan macam-macam teknik kultur in vitro. Sesi kedua, praktek teknik kultur jaringan di laboratorium meliputi pengenalan laboratorium,alat dan bahan beserta fungsinya, multiplikasi (perbanyakan) tunas anggrek in vitro, kultur kalus, kultur embrio dan kultur mata tunas dengan sistem single node. Kegiatan pengabdian pelatihan teknik dasar kultur jaringan dapat membantu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta tentang kultur jaringan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari antusiasme peserta selama kegiatan dan meningkatnya persentase pemahaman peserta menjadi 54,5% (tingkat pengetahuan baik), 36,4% peserta dengan tingkat pengetahuan cukup, dan 9,1% peserta dengan tingkat pengetahuan kurang.Abstract: This activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of partners about plant tissue culture techniques. The training activity is divided into 2 sessions, namely the first session, delivering material on the basic concepts of tissue culture, equipment and material requirements, media, growth regulators, growing environmental conditions, tissue culture stages, and various in vitro culture techniques. In the second session, the practice of tissue culture techniques in the laboratory included introducing the laboratory tools and materials and their functions, multiplication (propagation) of orchid shoots in vitro, callus culture, embryo culture, and organ culture using a single node system. Basic technique training of plant tissue culture can help increase participants' knowledge and skills about tissue culture. This can be seen from the participants' enthusiasm during the activity and the increase in the percentage of participants' knowledge to 54,5% (good level of knowledge), 36,4% of participants with a sufficient level of knowledge and 9,1% of participants with a low level of knowledge.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemenuhan kebutuhan air bersih yang aman dan layak dikonsumsi belum dapat dirasakan oleh semua lapisan masyarakat Lombok Tengah akibat tingginya angka kemiskinan dan rendahnya tingkat pendidikan masyarakat. Selain itu dengan tingginya aktivitas sektor pertanian yang menggunakan pupuk dan pestisida, dimungkinkan bahan kimia dan hasil peruraianya akibat proses  leaching terbawa aliran air kemudian meresap  ke dalam tanah dan masuk ke dalam sumber air tak terlindungi. Hal ini diindikasikan dengan hasil pengukuran kadar nitrit dan ammonia di beberapa sungai yang mengaliri desa. Salah satu solusi yang akan diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penerapan teknologi tepat guna tentang proses pengelolaan air siap minum dengan membuat unit pengolahan air irigasi menjadi air siap minum dengan menggunakan metode filtrasi-adsorpsi (kombinasi oleh pasir silika, karbon aktif dan membran) dan penyinaran lampu UV untuk desinfikasi. Sosialisasi kepada kelompok – kelompok tani Desa Jago dilakukan sebagai sarana alih teknologi tentang pengolahan air siap minum dan sebagai upaya mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat serta pemanfaatan air secara bijak dan efektif. Keberlanjutan program dilakukan melalui pengelolaan mandiri oleh P3A dengan dukungan dari masyarakat sekitar dan pengawasan dari Perangkat Desa Jago. Kata kunci: air siap minum, filtrasi, adsorpsi, uv radiasi, Desa Jago.

Abstract

Musa paradisiaca cv Haji is a local banana of Lombok that has a longer shelf life. The determination of the haji banana genome still uses a scoring method based on morphological character. Clarification of ploidy levels and genome types can be done using chromosome analysis. The initial information needed to perform the karyotype analysis is identifying the cleavage time of M. paradisiaca cv Haji. Banana Haji on the island of Lombok has a different local name, so morphological identification of the haji banana accession is required. Morphological observations were conducted on three accessions of Haji bananas from different cultivation sites. Identification of the time of mitosis cleavage is made by the Squash method. The results showed a uniform synapomorphic character in the haji banana accession. The characters include the aspects of pseudostem (normal), shiny pseudostem, imbricate young bractea (young bractea slightly stacked), red inner bractea, straight ovary, and no pigmentation on the stylus. The autapomorphic character of Haji banana accession in this study included inside the pseudostem of the red-green, the position of horizontal fruit bunches, a fair amount of wax on the surface of the lower leaf, and the petiole of the lower leaf in pink. There are morphological character differences in Haji cultivar accession on pseudostem color and tepal color pigmentation. The time of mitosis division in Haji bananas, especially the prophase stage - metaphase from 06.38 - 07.38 Wita. The results obtained in this study can be used as a foundation to conduct karyotype analysis of Musa paradisisaca cv Haji.

The aim of this activity were provided skills of make decorative products from rubbish of plastic bag, to motivate Marong Jamaq community to develop creativity and create independent business-based on skills in processing plastic bag. The activity was carried out with a Focus Group Discussion approach, which included training, coaching and evaluation to monitor the success of activities using the observation method. The material presented included the effect of plastic waste for health and environment, the utilization of plastic bag, practicing habituation of clean life, the alternatives of plastic create, the plastic bag create into decorative materials. The conclusions of this activity, as many as 100% of participants understood the material presented, as many as 85% of participants understood how to make decorative materials from plastic bag, as many as 95% of participants were motivated to apply and develop of various decorative product models, and as many as 90% of participants were motivated to sell decorative products hand made.
