Abstract

This research is motivated by students' chemical mastery in learning is still low, especially for abstract concept/theory material. This can be seen from students being less active and lacking memory in following the learning process. In addition, schools only rely on textbooks that make students less interested in learning and there is no student workbook to support students' understanding. This research aimed at knowing the appropriateness of the instructional media design in the form of Probing-Prompting based student workbook on Periodic System of the Elements lesson. It was administered at State Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru. It was R&D (Research and Development) with 4-D model, and it was limited to 3 models—define, design, and development. The subjects of this research were the experts of material, the experts of media, and the experts of language, Chemistry subject teachers, 10 students at the tenth grade of MIA 1. The object was Probing-Prompting based student workbook on Periodic System of the Elements lesson. The research findings showed that Probing-Prompting based student workbook was appropriate to be used and it was based on the results of validity and practicality levels. The percentage of validity level obtained was 85.78% (very valid) and the practicality level was 85.33% (very practical). Based on theses results, it could be identified that Probing-Prompting based student workbook could be tested further. KeywordsStudent Workbook, Probing-Prompting, Periodic System of the Element

Abstract

Clay is natural mineral from silicate family like crystal which has approximately 2 micrometer. There are two component unit of atom in clay mineral. One consists of oxygen or hidroksida with alumunium, iron or magnesium that coordinated in octahedral system. Others, it is tetrahedral system from silicon with oxygen or hidroksida. Based on IR analysis, it can be known that metal─OH bending vibrations it can be seen at 912,3 cm─1 wavelength. On the other bands between 694,3 and 754,1 cm─1 that are Si─O bending vibrations. X-Ray Diffraction (X-RD) analysis be seen main peak at 2 = 5,70o (d001=15,48 Å) and 2 = 20,02o (d001=4,43 Å). That are for smectite mineral kind montmorillonite as main unit in clay from Pacitan

Abstract

Analysis of phosphorus content in green beans was done. Sampling was conducted with a random method (random) from 3 different markets namely the market of Panam, the market of Arengka and the market of Giant. This study aims to analyze the levels of phosphorus in the green beans in the markets of Pekanbaru. The method used in this study is the UV-Vis spectrophotometer, which measured at a wavelength of 400 nm. Research was conducted at the Laboratory of Pathology, Entomology and Microbiology (PEM) Faculty of Agricultural and animal husbandry Pekanbaru Riau Suska UIN 2010. Based on the results obtained from 3 samples of green beans that were analyzed, the results showed that phosphorus levels in green beans from the market of Arengka is 82.3 mg/10g, from Panam Market is mg/10g 88.05 and market of Giant is 89.63 mg/ 10g. From 3 different markets that phosphorus levels obtained ranged from 82.3 to 89.63 mg/10 gr.

Abstract

It has been successfully synthesized a new pillared clay adsorbent by using natural bentonite from the Kecamatan Tulakan Pacitas East Java. The synthesis was carried out by intercalation methode by mixing benzalkonium chloride surfactant solution and precursor solution of iron chloride into natural bentonite solution, then the resulted solid phase was calcined at 400oC. The natural bentonite and the adsorbent of pillared clay were characterized by using infra red spectrosphotometer. The iron oxide content was determined by using atomic absorption spectroscopy. It has been concluded that pillarization proses increased the iron oxide content up to five time depending on the mole ratio of iron and cation exchange capacity (CEC) value of natural bentonite. From infra red spectra, it has been concluded that surfactant intercalation into inter layer space can be observed by using peak at 2925.8 and 2852.5 cm-1, while the iron oxide pillared is not observed.

Abstract

AbstractThis research is motivated by the exam questions in the odd semester of 2015/2016 of which items have not been analyzed. Furthermore, the test result of the odd semester is under the minimum completion criteria. This document analysis research is aimed at discovering the quality of question items qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of the study suggests that 40 items of the odd semester chemistry subject exam questions are not qualitatively compliance with all material aspects, constructions, and the language examined from class 10 of Islamic Senior High School Ponpes Khairul Ummah. Furthermore, at MA Nurul Falah, there are 19 items which are not compliance with the aspect of materials, constructions, and the language that is examined. Quantitatively, there are 29 valid items at MA Ponpes Khairul Ummah and possess test reliability as many as 0.65. At MA Nurul Falah there are 31 valid items and possess test reliability as much as 0.76. Keywords: Analysis of grain problem, chemistry, qualitative, quantitative

Abstract

 AbstractThis research is motivated by chemistry exam of the odd semester in the school year of 2015/2016 which has not been validated. It is aimed at finding out the compatibility of semester exam reviewing from qualitative and quantitative. The techniques of data collections are interview and documentation. The data sources are multiple choice semester exam questions, students’ answer sheets, answer keys, question overview, lesson plan, and syllabus. The result of research is found that 12 questions of SMA and 11 questions of MA which is not compatible with the aspect being reviewed. The other result of research is found that SMA questions have the reliability of 0.5764 and MA as much as 0.80. By empirical validity, there are 25 SMA questions and 18 MA questions which are invalid. This research implication is all items of question must validated to know the quality of that items. Keywords: Chemistry education, Question Item Analysis

Abstract

Research on new university student misconceptions about bond in NaCl compounds has been done to identify possible misconceptions. Student misconceptions are observed using a misconception analysis instrument consisting of statements accompanied by right and wrong choices and open reasons. Based on the analysis of the instrument that has been done found that the students experience the concept of ionic bonding in the compound NaCl. Students experience misconceptions why NaCl is an ionic compound. In addition, misconceptions are also found about the physical properties of the associated NaCl compounds, ie students believe that NaCl is a compound with a brittle bond and no breaking of bonds in NaCl solution and NaCl has electrolyte properties in solid phase.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design and develop diagnostic test for analysis of student misconception in chemical bonding materials. Diagnostic that we develop in this study was four-tier diagnostic test. the diagnostic test consisted of 25 questions which cover 20 indicator in chemical bonding materials. From the test result obtained the higest was in a determine the bonding that consist in the compound (39,45%) and the lowest misconception was in a interpret the process in chemical bonding formation process (1,83).

Abstract

This research aimed at developing a pocket book containing science generiC skills on Reaction Rate lesson and knowing validity level, practicality level, and student response to the developed pocket book.  It was Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall model.  The subjects of this research were 10 the twelfth-grade students of Natural Science 3 at Islamic Senior High School of Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. The object was the pocket book containing science generik skills on Reaction Rate lesson. Validity test questionnaire, practicality test questionnaire, student response test questionnaire, interview, and documentation were the techniques of collecting the data. Analyzing the data was done by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques.  The research findings showed that the validity level of the chemistry pocket book was 76.3% (valid), the practicality level was 81.2% (very practical), and the percentage of student response to the pocket book was 84.2% (very good).  It could be concluded that the chemistry pocket book containing science generik skills on Reaction Rate lesson could be tested wider.

Abstract

Identifikasi tujuan utama dari studi ini adalah untuk menganalisis keterampilan murid dalam berpikir secara kritis menggunakan strategi pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) pada materi asam-basa. Studi ini dilakukan pada murid kelas XII MIAdi MA Nahdlatul Ulama Kediri selama tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Studi ini mengadopsi desain one-shot case study yang bersifat deskriptif. Studi ini melibatkan 25 murid yang dipilih secara purposive sebagai sampel. Untuk memperkuat data yang diperoleh, peneliti menggunakan berbagai instrumen seperti tes, lembar observasi, dan wawancara. Temuan dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan murid dalam berpikir secara kritis yang mendapat pembelajaran melalui strategi pembelajaran PBI menunjukkan persentase yang bervariasi pada kelima sub-indikator berpikir kritis. Sub-indikator yang memiliki persentase tertinggi adalah bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan menantang dengan persentase 86,76% dan berada pada level yang sangat baik. Sub-indikator terkait penarikan kesimpulan dan penilaian hasil memiliki skor 83,83% dengan level sangat baik. Di sisi lain, sub-indikator menilai kehandalan narasumber memiliki skor 72,79%. Sub indikator yang berfokus pada identifikasi asumsi memiliki peringkat baik dengan skor 70,59%. Namun, sub-indikator untuk mengambil keputusan dari suatu tindakan memiliki persentase terendah sebesar 68,38%, menunjukkan peringkat cukup. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis murid pada pembelajaran asam basa memiliki skor rata-rata sebesar 76,67% yang termasuk dalam level baik.
