Abstract

This study aims to find out whether there is a difference in learning outcomes after applying the Learning Start With A Question (LSQ) learning strategy to student learning outcomes in financial institutions (banks) in Economics in class X MA Muhammadiyah Pekanbaru. The subjects in the study were 33 students. Data collection was carried out from posttest questions given to students in the control class and experimental class. The learning outcomes obtained when conducting research were an average score of 71.76, while for the experimental class the average score was 76.25. Thus, the average score obtained from the experimental class that was treated in the form of LSQ strategy was higher than that of the control class that was not treated. In the normality test, the data obtained was not normal, so the researcher processed the data using a non-parametric test obtained the hypothesis that the processed value was 0.601>0.05, indicating that Ha was rejected and H0 was accepted. This means that there is no significant average difference between the use of LSQ and conventional learning strategies.

Abstract

The Kedabu fruit, scientifically known as Sonneratia ovata Backer, is a mangrove plant commonly found in Indonesia. This fruit is valued for its antioxidant properties and shows potential as a natural sunscreen. This study was conducted to determine the in-vitro activity of the extract and fractions of Kedabu fruit (Sonneratia ovata Backer) as a sunscreen, with the potential for development into a natural sunscreen preparation. Experiments were conducted on extracts and various fractions, including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water. The extracts and fractions of Kedabu fruit were prepared at concentrations of 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 µg/mL. Their absorbance was then measured in the UV A (320-375 nm) and UV B (290-320 nm) wavelength ranges. The n-butanol fraction, at a concentration of 1000 µg/mL, appears to be the most effective sunscreen, demonstrating a %Te value of 8.369% and %Tp of 50.345%. This performance places it in the standard Suntan range for UV B protection. Additionally, it has an SPF value of 10.58, categorizing it within the highest level of sun protection.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the cone hole angle on aluminum (30°, 45°, and 60°) on the tensile strength and hardness of rotary friction welding between aluminum 6061 and pure copper. Friction welding was selected as an effective method for joining materials with different thermal properties. The testing process includes a tensile test to determine the ultimate tensile strength and a Vickers hardness test at several positions. The results show that a smaller cone angle (30°) produces higher tensile strength (2.0 kgf/mm²), while the highest hardness (93.8 HV) was obtained at a 45° cone angle in the welding zone.

Abstract

The digital literacy is likely playing a crucial role on the reading interest in this digital age. This study aimed to determine the influence of digital literacy on the reading interest of UIN Suska Riau students. The sample of this study comprised of 82 students of UIN Suska Riau and the data were collected using questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Path Analysis 3.0 and SPSS 21. The results showed that digital literacy had a significant influence on the reading interest of UIN Suska Riau students. This showed that the path coefficient value of the original sample estimate (beta) was positive at 0.471, and the direction of the relationship between both variables was in the quite strong category. The effect of digital literacy on the reading interest was also significant in the 2-way test (t table = 1.97) with a t-statistic value of 8.105, which was greater than the t table, and a p-value lower than alpha 5% (0.000 0.05). Overall, the results of this analysis proofed that the digital literacy positively related to the rading interest and it significantly influenced the reading interest.

Abstract

The crisis of clean water availability has become increasingly critical due to rapid population growth and environmental degradation. One strategic approach to address this challenge is to implement seawater desalination, which provides an abundant, sustainable water source. However, conventional methods remain limited in terms of energy efficiency. This study aims to analyze the effect of pressure and temperature variations on the performance of a large-capacity desalination reactor with an 8000-liter tank. Two configurations were experimentally tested: (1) an air-circulation system that relies on static heating assisted by an axial fan to enhance convection, and (2) a sealed system operating under low-pressure conditions to reduce the boiling point of water, equipped with active hot-water circulation. Data collection was carried out over 27 hours of operation, with the observed parameters including water temperature, partial pressure, relative humidity, and evaporation volume. The experimental results showed that the sealed configuration delivered superior performance, with an evaporation rate 16.64% higher than that of the air-circulation variant. The volume of water successfully evaporated in the sealed system reached 20.12 liters, whereas in the air-circulation system it was only 17.25 liters. This increase in efficiency is attributed to the pressure-reduction effect, which enhances the vapor pressure difference while facilitating uniform heat distribution through active water circulation. This study emphasizes that controlling pressure and temperature is key to improving the effectiveness of the desalination process, thereby supporting the Development of more energy-efficient and sustainable clean water supply technologies.
