Abstract

Politeknik Negeri Jember (National State of Jember Polytechnic), Indonesia, fully understand that infrastructure is one among various key factors to enhance the quality of the university. However, in the department of Information Technology, infrastructure management is a prominent issue. The primary cause of the issue appears to be a manual arrangement of room reservations, as room usage often crashes due to the scheduling mismatch. To tackle this issue, this study focuses on the development of a room reservation information system, known as “Sistem Informasi Peminjaman Ruangan dan Sarana Pembelajaran (SIPRu)”. The system is developed as an additional feature in the department website. It is developed using the Waterfall method, beginning with the requirements analysis (i.e., an identification of functional and non-functional requirements) and architectural processes design processes (i.e., the development of use case diagram, flowchart, data flow diagram, and database design). In this study, Laravel is used for the implementation, and black box testing is used to verify compliance with the functional requirements. During the testing process, 42 department stakeholders participated to validate the requirements and conduct user experience testing. The results indicated that the stakeholders have found the website to be sufficiently responsive to their needs. Furthermore, it is revealed that SIPRu is effective at assisting users in reserving rooms at the department of Information Technology, National State of Jember Polytechnic.

Abstract

Deaf individuals in Indonesia face challenges in using voice-based technology. This study aims to develop an interactive kiosk system utilizing hand gesture detection based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to provide a more inclusive solution. The research process includes collecting hand gesture datasets using MediaPipe, splitting the dataset into training and testing data with a 75:25 ratio, and training the model using a Learning Rate Scheduler. The model architecture is designed to capture patterns from keypoint data by optimizing the use of dropout layers and the softmax activation function. The evaluation shows that the model achieves an accuracy of 90.22% on the test data, with an average precision of 91%, recall of 89%, and F1-score of 90%. The trial results also demonstrate consistent performance for simple gestures, while accuracy decreases for complex gestures and greater distances. This research provides a significant contribution to enabling voice-free interaction, particularly for deaf individuals, by integrating LSTM technology into interactive kiosk systems.

Abstract

Abstract

Recognition technology with Raspberry Pi to transform attendance management practices in educational institutions and workplaces. By harnessing advanced technologies like the Haar Cascade Classifier and Local Binary Patterns (LBP) algorithm, the system exhibits strong performance in accurately detecting and identifying faces across diverse environmental settings. Through rigorous experimental evaluation, the system achieves its highest accuracy in the distance comparison test at 30 cm, with an average accuracy of 92.4%. Similarly, it demonstrates optimal performance in the light comparison test at 100 lux, achieving an average accuracy of 91.3%. These results underscore the system's effectiveness in identifying faces in close proximity and under suitable lighting conditions. Overall, the proposed system offers a promising solution for optimizing attendance management processes while mitigating the shortcomings of traditional recording methods. By providing a reliable and efficient means of tracking attendance, it lays a solid groundwork for enhancing productivity and outcomes in both educational and professional settings.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) is an effort to guarantee and protect the safety and health of every worker through efforts to prevent work accidents and work-related diseases. Safety Helmet is one of the components that must exist and be used in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health standards. Detection of safety helmets usage is one of the efforts to support these activities. The application of Arc Circularity Naive Bayes is used to detect whether an object meets the ratio of a circle by utilizing RGB and HSV image filtering and classification using Naïve Bayes. That method is used to detect whether a worker uses a safety helmet or not, it also detects helm color. The average value of accuracy is 50.8, precision is 58.3%, recall is 66.0%, and f1-score is 59.5% which are calculated using the Confusion Matrix

Abstract

Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) is one of the agricultural commodities with high economic value, but its cultivation faces various challenges, including climate change and suboptimal environmental management. Conventional microclimate control methods are primarily manual and reactive, often failing to maintain stable conditions during the critical phase of generation. Technological innovations, especially IoT-based microclimate controllers, enable real-time monitoring and automated regulation of temperature, humidity, and light, thereby reducing environmental fluctuations that negatively affect flowering and yield. This research aims to develop and apply an IoT-based microclimate controller that optimizes growth conditions during the generative phase of vanilla, and to evaluate its impact on growth and crop yields. The study was conducted over a 3-month generative period, using 30 vanilla plants per group (n = 60 in total), with three replications. Data were collected weekly and analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests to compare growth and yield performance. The results show that IoT-based microclimate controllers significantly improved optimal temperature and humidity stability, increasing plant growth and crop yields. The average stem length and number of flowers per plant increased by 30% and 25%, respectively, compared to the control group, while vanillin content rose from 1.8% to 2.5%. These findings offer new insights into sustainable vanilla cultivation management, which can be adopted by farmers to enhance productivity and quality. Recommendations for further research include developing more advanced systems, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and applying these technologies in different climatic conditions.
