Abstract

Kedelai (Glycine max (L) Merril) telah digunakan di negara-negara Asia selama berabad-abad sebagai sumber protein yang utama dari tanaman. Kedelai mengandung isoflavon genistein, dadzein dan glycitein yang mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan. Ada dugaan isoflavone kedelai mempunyai aktivitas hipoglikemik dan dapat meningkatkan ekspresi insulin sel B pankreas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah Kedelai (Glycine max (L) Merril) menurunkan kadar glukosa darah, dan meningkatkan ekspresi insulin pulau Langerhans pada tikus yang diinduksi alloxan. Sejumlah 36 ekor tikus Wistar jantan dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok (3 kelompok perlakuan dan 3 kelompok kontrol). Alloxan disuntikkan secara intraperitoneal dengan dosis 150 mg/kg BB untuk menginduksi tikus menjadi diabetes pada grup perlakuan dan grup kontrol diabetes. Bubur kedelai (100, 200 dan 500 mg/kg BB/hari) diberikan personde pada grup perlakuan selama 4 minggu. Glukosa darah puasa diperiksa dari sampel darah yang diambil dari vena retroorbita sebelum perlakuan, 2 minggu dan 4 minggu setelah perlakuan, dan diukur dengan metode GOD-PAP. Pada hari ke 29 setelah perlakuan tikus didekapitasi dan jaringan pankreas diambil. Terhadap irisan paraffin pankreas dilakukan pewarnaan imunohistokimia menggunakan antibodi anti-insulin. Penilaian kualitatif ekspresi insulin dilihat dengan adanya warna coklat yang timbul pada pulau Langerhans. Data yang dianalisis dengan uji Anova nilai p < 0,05 menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar glukosa darah puasa pada kelompok perlakuan 500 mg/kgBB/hari mengalami penurunan mencapai kadar normal (100,38 mg/dl). Ekspresi insulin pada pulau Langerhans juga memperlihatkan peningkatan pada kelompok tikus DM dengan perlakuan. Sebagai kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kedelai mempunyai aktivitas hipoglikemik dan meningkatkan ekspresi insulin. Peningkatan ekspresi insulin tersebut diduga disebabkan oleh adanya antioksidan yang berfungsi untuk melindungi sel ? pankreas dari apoptosis.

Abstract

Buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana Linn.) telah lama dikenal sebagai buah-buahan tropik yang terasa manis dan banyak digemari masyarakat di negara Asia Tenggara. Umumnya, masyarakat mengkonsumsi buah manggis dan membuang kulit buahnya. Namun kulit buah tersebut mengandung khasiat untuk pengobatan diare, disentri, eksim dan  penyakit  gatal-gatal  pada  kulit.  Kulit  buah manggis mengandung senyawa  xanthon  dengan senyawa  aktif mangostin. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji sitotoksisitas ?-mangostin dari berbagai konsentrasi terhadap sel kanker hati, HepG2 dan juga analisis reactive oxygen species (ROS). Analisis sitotoksik terhadap sel HepG2 menunjukkan pada konsentrasi ?-mangostin 242,58 µg/ml mampu menghambat 50% (IC50). Selanjutnya ?-mangostin pada konsentrasi 200 µg/ml mampu menghambat tingkat pembentukan ROS sebesar 23,15 ± 4,29%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan  ?-mangostin bersifat sitotoksik dan dapat menghambat pembentukan radikal bebas (ROS).

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder. Diabetes mellitus can cause a decrease in sperm count, sperm motility, testosterone hormone, erectile ability, libido and testicular weight. Antidiabetic drugs consumed long-term can cause side effects; therefore, alternative treatment is needed using herbal medicinal plants. Saponins in plants are a complex class of complex natural compounds with a large molecular mass, namely steroid or triterpenoid aglycones with one or more sugar/glycoside chains. Saponins function as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the effect of saponins as one of the antioxidants on the testicular organs of rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar strain-induced Streptozotocin. Methods: This study used the Literature Review method with a narrative literature review type. The data collection technique uses a search for several research databases through Google Scholar and Mendeley. This research has four journals that will review. Results: The results showed that herbal plants have bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, tannins, and saponins that have antidiabetic effects with different mechanisms in reducing blood glucose levels repairing damage to testicular tissue of diabetes mellitus rats. Conclusion: Antioxidant saponins in herbal plants influence improving and supporting the repair of testicular histology damage in diabetic cases. Allah SWT grows a wide variety of plants that have enormous benefits for humans, including food and medicine, because Allah SWT created various kinds of plants with multiple uses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of stress oxidative with treatment calorie restrictions and administration of sucrose solution. This study was a laboratory experimental study with 12 male white rats (Wistar strain) as subjects for caloric restrictive treatment and 12 rats for 50% sucrose solution. Where each group of rats is determined by the dependent and independent variables. Using the pre-posttest control design, the dependent variable of caloric restriction, and the independent variable malondialdehyde. The dependent variables used were body weight using a scale, fasting blood glucose using a glucometer, and MDA using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The independent variable used was the administration of 50% sucrose solution. The data were statistically analyzed by T-test analysis. There was no significant decrease in MDA levels in the caloric restriction treatment rats (p = 0.060), besides that there was a significant difference in body weight in both the control and sucrose groups (p <0.05). There was no significant difference in fasting blood sugar in the control group (p > 0.05) and there was a significant difference in the sucrose group (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in serum MDA levels in either the control or sucrose groups (p > 0.05). There is an effect of calorie restriction on MDA levels. Also, administration of 50% sucrose solution for 4 weeks had a significant effect on the rats' body weight and blood glucose but did not have a significant effect on serum MDA levels.

Abstract

Background: Burnout syndrome is a measure of physical exhaustion and mental stress that is driven primarily by pressure and job requirements. The academic demands experienced by medical students, such as busy class schedules, practicum materials, group discussions, clinical skills, final exams, to organizational activities are some of the factors that make the duties and obligations as students pile up, triggering to the Burnout syndrome. According to the Islamic view, patience and trustworthiness are a way to deal with fatigue in studying. Method: This type of research is quantitative which is done in an analytical observational manner with a cross sectional design. Questionnaires were distributed via Google form to YARSI University Medical Faculty students in 2019 and 2020. The sample in this study was 224 respondents. The statistical test uses the Chi-Square test. Results: In the study it was found that there were 125 (55%) students who had moderate burnout syndrome. Based on the results of statistical tests, there is no effect between schedule density and the frequency of assignments on burnout syndrome. Conclusion: There is no effect of the density of schedules and the frequency of assignments on burnout syndrome

Abstract

Hyperglycemia is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism characterized by high blood glucose levels. Hyperglycemic treatment is usually done by administering oral hyperglycemic drugs. Therapy using drugs, either in the form of oral anti-diabetic drugs, insulin therapy, or a combination of both. Herbal medicine can be an alternative treatment in the treatment of hyperglycemia. Various types of extracts from various parts of several medicinal plants have been tested for hyperglycemic activity, one of which is due to the content of tannin compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of herbal plant extracts containing tannins on the histopathological of the kidneys of diabetic rats. The research method uses the Literature Review method with secondary data collection from scientific research articles from 2019-2023. Search data using the online Google Scholar database using key words such as tannins, diabetes, histopathology, kidney and rats. Articles are then evaluated based on the title and abstract. From the 5 results of this Literature Review, all literature states that there is an effect of herbal plant extracts containing tannins on the histopathological  of the kidneys of diabetic rats.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Low Back Pain (LBP) ditandai dengan rasa nyeri di punggung bawah, pada daerah tulang belakang, otot, saraf, atau struktur lain di daerah tersebut. Sekitar 40,5% penyakit yang diderita berhubungan dengan pekerjaan. Selama pembelajaran luring, seorang guru melakukan pekerjaannya mengajar di depan kelas dengan posisi duduk duduk, berdiri ataupun berjalan selama 4-6 jam sehari, sehingga beresiko menderita LBP. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan jenis kelamin, usia, posisi duduk dan durasi duduk guru SMP di Kabupaten Bogor pada pembelajaran luring dengan keluhan Low Back Pain. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kabupaten Bogor, dengan sampel sebanyak 92 orang. Analisis data dengan analisis bivariat (Chi-Square). Hasil: Keluhan LBP pada guru SMP di Kabupaten Bogor pada pembelajaran luring berhubungan erat dengan faktor usia (p=0,042) dimana guru dengan usia >40 tahun lebih banyak mempunyai keluhan ini. LBP juga berhubungan erat dengan posisi duduk yang kurang tepat (p=0,009) dan durasi duduk yang lama (>6 jam) (p=0,001). Kesimpulan: Keluhan LBP pada guru SMP di Kabupaten Bogor pada pembelajaran luring dipengaruhi oleh faktor usia, posisi duduk dan durasi duduk. Low Back Pain (LBP) adalah kondisi yang membutuhkan waktu lama untuk berkembang dan bermanifestasi. Durasi mengacu pada waktu yang dibutuhkan seorang pekerja untuk terpapar faktor risiko. Pekerjaan yang membutuhkan otot atau gerakan yang sama untuk digunakan dalam jangka waktu yang lama meningkatkan potensi kelelahan lokal dan umum. semakin lama durasi kerja, semakin lama pemulihan otot dan waktu istirahat. Abstract

Metabolic syndrome characterized by insulin resistance, atherogenic dyslipidemia, and hypertension, is a significant health concern often associated with obesity and Diabetes Mellitus. Regular consumption of nuts has been suggested to mitigate some of these conditions. This study investigates the effects of almond and peanut consumption on oxidative stress, plasma lipids, body weight, glucose, and blood pressure in Wistar rats. Wistar rats were divided into four dietary groups: standard diet (ST), high-fat diet (HF), high-fat diet with almonds (HFA), and high-fat diet with peanuts (HFP). The treatment lasted for 8 weeks, during which body weight was monitored weekly. Blood pressure measurements and retro-orbital blood samples were collected before and after the treatment. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured using ELISA and TBARS methods. Blood lipid profiles and glucose levels were analyzed using enzymatic methods. Statistical tests used the oAnova followed by Posthoc LSD. The HF group exhibited significant increases in body weight, blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, MDA, and blood pressure, with reduced SOD levels. Conversely, the HFA and HFP groups showed moderated increases in these parameters compared to the HF group. Both nut-supplemented groups had significantly lower MDA levels and higher SOD activity, indicating reduced oxidative stress and enhanced antioxidative defenses. Almonds and peanuts can reduce body fat, improve lipid profiles, and stabilize blood glucose levels, suggesting their potential role in promoting metabolic health and reducing cardiovascular risk. Further research should explore the long-term benefits and the specific bioactive compounds responsible for these effects.

Abstract

Sindrom metabolik, yang melibatkan faktor risiko seperti obesitas, hipertensi, dan hiperkolesterolemia, menjadi masalah kesehatan yang semakin meningkat, terutama di kalangan tenaga pendidik dengan gaya hidup kurang aktif dan tingkat stres tinggi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran guru di SMPN 2 Sukaraja mengenai sindrom metabolik melalui penyuluhan berbasis media leaflet. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pre-test, pemberian materi lewat leaflet, pemeriksaan kesehatan, dan post-test. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan membandingkan nilai pre-test dan post-test untuk melihat perubahan pengetahuan peserta. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan tentang sindrom metabolik, dengan rata-rata nilai post-test lebih tinggi dibandingkan pre-test (p<0.05). Meskipun peningkatan pengetahuan signifikan, efek penyuluhan ini tergolong kecil hingga sedang (Cohen’s d=0.31), yang menunjukkan adanya potensi untuk perbaikan dalam metode yang digunakan. Kegiatan ini berhasil memberikan pemahaman dasar kepada guru mengenai pentingnya pencegahan sindrom metabolik, diharapkan dapat mendorong perubahan gaya hidup sehat di kalangan peserta. Penyuluhan berbasis media leaflet dapat menjadi pendekatan efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran kesehatan di kalangan tenaga pendidik

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin or the body cannot use the insulin made effectively. Antidiabetic drugs usually have side effects such as nausea and anorexia. Therefore, alternative medicines such as herbal medicines are needed. Plants have phytochemical compounds and secondary metabolites such as phenols, alkaloids, steroids, glycosides, flavonoids and certain pigments. Alkaloids are secondary metabolite compounds in many plant and animal tissues and have the most nitrogen atoms. This study aims to determine the research results on the effects of giving herbal plant extracts on the histopathological picture of the kidneys of diabetes mellitus rats. Methods: This study uses the Literature Review method with a narrative literature review type. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by searching for data through the database on Google Scholar. Four journals were obtained as research sources based on the exclusion and inclusion criteria. Results: Plants that contain alkaloids are effective in improving kidney conditions. Alkaloids are antioxidant compounds that can provide nephron cell protection and kidney repair in glomerular endothelial cells, increasing the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Increased GFR will reduce creatinine and uranium levels in the blood. Conclusion: Plant extracts that contain alkaloids can repair kidney damage in diabetes mellitus rats. According to the Islamic view, alkaloids can improve the condition of damaged kidneys, so it is allowed to consume because plants have many benefits that are very useful for human health that can be used as natural medicines.
