Abstract

This study intended to find out the effect of Picture-Cued Task towards Students’ Motivation in Learning Writing at SMPN 3 Lingsar in the academic year  2018/2019. The population of the second grade of SMPN 3 Lingsar was 120 students and the researchers took VIII-B class as an Experimental group and VIII-D as a Control group. The Experimental group was treated by Picture-Cued Task and the Control group was treated by Mind Mapping. The instruments that were used to collect the data were tests and questionnaires. The data was analyzed by using Quantitative research and the way researchers analyzed the data was by; scoring, percentile meanings, and impacts. The Quantitative Data showed that the students were able to arrange their grammar and vocabularies well when making short sentences through Picture-Cued Task. Those students were enthusiastically joined the class even though they were wondering what to do with pictures. In Quantitative Data, the researchers found; Mean = 26,07, Median = 25, Mode = 20 and Standard Deviation = 6,434. The t-test score was 6,392 and the t-table was 1,67 in significance level 0,05 with the degree of freedom 54,  therefore, the score of the t-test is higher than the t-table. Based on the data finding and discussion, it can be concluded that the use of Picture-Cued Task has a positive effect to motivate students in learning writing.

Abstract

The significance of reading comprehension for learners’ English mastery makes English teachers need to help learners to activate their background knowledge related to texts being read and promote the use of reading techniques. In this study, researchers applied the genre-based directed reading thinking activities (G-BDRTA). Genres here are oriented to provide learners with various text types for reading activities. Consequently, this study was aimed at actuating learners’ reading comprehension through genre-based directed reading thinking activities (G-BDRTA) viewed from critical thinking skills. This study was classified as an experimental study using non-equivalent control group design. This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Lingsar. There were 62 learners involved in this study. The learners were divided into two groups and each group embraces 31 learners. One group becomes an experimental group which is subjected to the G-BDRTA strategy and the other group is subjected to the control group treated using student-team-learning (STL) strategy. To find out the data, researchers used a reading test and critical thinking test as research instruments. Then, the data were analyzed using Two-Way-ANOVA. Based on the data analysis, there is a significant effect of G-BDRTA strategy on students’ reading comprehension viewed from critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The implementation of virtual learning in the time of covid-19 pandemic had potentially affected the students’ learning motivation. This research was aimed at finding out; (1) the level of the EFL learning motivation when the remote learning is implemented during the Covid-19; (2) How was the EFL learning motivation when the remote learning implemented during the Covid-19. This study was conducted at two different universities majoring English department and medical laboratory technology department consisting of 202 students. To gain the data, a questionnaire on learning motivation was delivered to the students. The data was analyzed using the Likert scale of agreement or disagreement to interpret the types of learning English motivation. In analyzing the data, both quantitative and qualitative were used as a mixed-methods was applied. The findings of the study showed that the students' motivation was categorized into high level or slightly close to medium level of motivation. Other interesting findings were that the distance learning was claimed less effective because the materials were claimed tent to be difficult, error internet connection, less interaction between students and teachers, and so forth. On the other hand, some students argued that digital learning improves their ability in utilizing the technology media, encourages, encouraged them to be independency and curiosity, and trained the students to be more confident.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk:(1)meningkatkan kreativitas dan produktivitas Guru Bahasa Inggris dalam menyusun need analysis, assessment tool dan instruksi pengajaran yang bervariasi yang kemudian disusun menjadi sebuah modul berbasis InTASC  (InTASC Standard-Based Module) dimana modul ini berisi 10 standard yang memuat seluruh langkah pengajaran dan refleksi yang bisa dilakukan guru sehingga proses belajar mengajar akan berjalan dengan efektif dan menyenangkan, apa yang diajarkan guru akan mudah dimengerti oleh siswa dan proses belajar mereka tidak hanya terhenti didalam kelas tetapi juga bisa dilakukan diluar kelas. (2) Dengan begitu, siswa nantinya akan mampu berkomunikasi menggunakan Bahasa Inggris dengan lancar dan bisa menggunakannya dalam mendapatkan pekerjaan khususnya dunia pariwisata dimana mereka mampu memberikan pelayanan yang jauh lebih baik yaitu mampu berkomunikasi dengan para wisatawan secara lancar. Dalam pelaksanaan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, tim terlebih dahulu akan berkoordinasi dan memberikan pengenalan InTASC standard kepada Kepala Sekolah dan peserta, Setelah itu tim akan memberikan pelatihan standard satu (1) InTASC yang berisi need analysis, assessment tool dan instruksi pengajaran yang bervariasi yang akhirnya disusun menjadi sebuah modul berbasis InTASC yang akan digunakan dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggris selanjutnya, sehingga manfaat pelatihan ini bisa dirasakan sampai seterusnya

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of androcentric rules in the usage of address terms in Sasaknese folklore. Folklore encompasses oral traditions, myths, legends, songs, dances, and rituals that are inherited from generation to generation. It often reflects the history, values, and worldview of a community, which provides insights into its cultural heritage. This research utilizes a descriptive qualitative approach in which the data used consists of language used in folklore. Ten elders are involved as expert triangulation in the storytelling process to ensure the reliability of the folklore. The result of this research provides evidence of deep-rooted androcentrism and it can be seen from the usage of address terms that are used in the data of this research. It also proves how the culture of society is reflected in its language and mirrored in its literary works.

Abstract

Abstract Madia Village is a village where most of the people cultivate plantation land, one of which is to process sap water into sugar arena or brown sugar. The purpose of this community service activity is so that partner community groups can improve knowledge, skills, and mastery of appropriate technology and master product marketing technology. This method of service is carried out with a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach. Improving packaging and marketing patterns will have a positive impact and can increase consumer interest and purchasing power and have their own characteristics to attract consumers both from inside and outside the West Nusa Tenggara region. The results of service activities succeeded in providing knowledge and understanding of palm tree cultivation, diversification of processed products and the use of mobile phones as a means of promoting palm sugar products.Abstrak Desa Madia adalah desa yang sebagian besar masyarakatnya mengolah lahan perkebunan, salah satunya adalah mengolah air nira menjadi gula arena tau gula merah. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini agar kelompok masyarakat mitra dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan penguasaan teknologi tepat guna  serta menguasai teknologi pemasaran produk. Metode pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Peningkatan pola kemasan dan pemasaran akan berdampak positif dan dapat meningkatkan minat dan daya beli konsumen serta memiliki ciri khas tersendiri untuk menarik konsumen baik dari dalam maupun luar wilayah Nusa Tenggara Barat. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian berhasil memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang budidaya pohon aren, diversifikasi produk olahan dan penggunaan handphone sebagai sarana dalam mempromosikan produk gula aren.

Abstract

Abstract Financing independence is an important factor in facing financial challenges faced by educational institutions. The principal's entrepreneurial skills are able to identify opportunities and develop initiatives oriented towards the development of the school's financial resources. This community service is carried out by training / workshop methods attended by school principals and teachers. The results of the service can be concluded that forming financing independence with entrepreneurial leadership can be done by managing financial resources effectively and efficiently, understanding of risk and financial management, increasing cooperation with external parties, and empowering school staff.Abstrak Kemandirian pembiayaan menjadi factor penting dalam menghadapi tantang keuangan yang dihadapi Lembaga pendidikan. Keterampilan entrepreneurship kepala sekolah mampu mengidentifikasi peluang dan mengembangkan inisiatif yang berorientasi pada pengembangan sumber daya keuangan sekolah. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan metode pelatihan/workshop yang diikuti oleh kepala sekolah dan guru.
