Abstract

This research aims to explore the correlation between student engagement and writing proficiency among college students at the Sharia Faculty of UIN Raden Intan Lampung during the 2023/2024 academic year. The study employed a quantitative approach to assess the relationship between these two variables, with student engagement as the independent variable and writing proficiency as the dependent variable. The population for this study consisted of 450 students, from which a purposive sample of 40 students was selected. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire to measure student engagement and a writing test to assess writing proficiency. The validity and reliability of the engagement data were analyzed using Pearson's bivariate correlation, and the writing test was validated by experts. Data analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between student engagement and writing skills, indicating that higher engagement levels contribute to better writing outcomes. These findings suggest that fostering student engagement can play a crucial role in improving writing proficiency. The study highlights the importance of incorporating engaging instructional strategies in the classroom to enhance students' writing abilities. However, the study's findings are limited by the sample size and scope, suggesting the need for further research across diverse educational contexts and writing genres.

Abstract

Kegiatan sosialisasi literasi digital dan etika berinternet ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat Desa Way Hui dalam memanfaatkan teknologi digital secara produktif dan bertanggung jawab. Melalui metode ceramah dan diskusi interaktif, peserta dibekali keterampilan dasar literasi digital serta pemahaman tentang etika berinternet, termasuk cara menjaga privasi, mengenali berita palsu, dan memanfaatkan media sosial untuk pemasaran produk lokal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta, yang ditandai dengan antusiasme dan keterlibatan aktif selama sesi berlangsung. Banyak peserta yang sebelumnya hanya menggunakan internet untuk komunikasi sosial kini mulai memahami cara memanfaatkan teknologi untuk mendukung usaha kecil mereka. Meskipun terdapat tantangan dalam memilih informasi kredibel dan mengelola akun bisnis secara konsisten, sosialisasi ini berhasil menciptakan fondasi kuat bagi masyarakat dalam menggunakan internet secara aman dan efektif. Diharapkan, peningkatan pemahaman ini dapat membantu masyarakat Desa Way Hui memperluas jangkauan pasar, meningkatkan kesejahteraan ekonomi, dan menjaga nilai-nilai etika di dunia digital.

Abstract

This study explores the perspectives of pre-service EFL teachers on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in urban classrooms in Indonesia. As AI increasingly influences language teaching and learning, it is important to understand how future teachers perceive its role, benefits, and challenges in their professional practice. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, the study collected data through an online questionnaire completed by seventy pre-service EFL teachers and follow-up semi-structured interviews with twenty volunteers. The findings revealed that participants generally held positive views of AI integration, highlighting its potential to enhance student motivation, provide immediate feedback, and support differentiated instruction for diverse learners in urban settings. At the same time, their confidence in applying AI remained moderate, reflecting limited training and practical experience. Participants also expressed concerns about infrastructural barriers, institutional support, and ethical issues such as plagiarism and over-reliance on AI outputs. These results suggest that while pre-service EFL teachers see AI as a valuable pedagogical tool, they acknowledge the need for critical awareness and proper preparation. The study implies that teacher education programs should embed AI literacy, pedagogical training, and ethical guidance into curricula to better equip future teachers for AI-enhanced classrooms.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa sosialisasi Undang-Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik (UU ITE) di Desa Way Muli dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman hukum masyarakat terkait aktivitas di ruang digital. Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang pesat tidak selalu diiringi dengan literasi hukum digital yang memadai, sehingga masih banyak masyarakat yang belum menyadari konsekuensi hukum dari tindakan yang dilakukan di dunia maya. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai substansi UU ITE, meliputi hak dan kewajiban pengguna internet, bentuk-bentuk pelanggaran, serta sanksi hukum yang dapat dikenakan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyuluhan tatap muka, diskusi interaktif, dan simulasi kasus yang relevan dengan permasalahan yang berpotensi muncul di masyarakat. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi dan tanya jawab selama kegiatan berlangsung. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran hukum peserta mengenai UU ITE, yang tercermin dari kemampuan mereka menjelaskan kembali materi dan mengidentifikasi potensi pelanggaran di lingkungannya. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah preventif untuk meminimalisir pelanggaran UU ITE di masa mendatang dan mendorong terciptanya budaya bermedia digital yang lebih bertanggung jawab di Desa Way Muli.

Abstract

Pernikahan dalam Islam merupakan institusi sakral yang menuntut kesamaan aqidah sebagai dasar terbentuknya keluarga sakinah. Namun, fenomena perpindahan agama salah satu pasangan pasca pernikahan semakin sering terjadi dalam masyarakat modern yang pluralistik. Permasalahan akademik muncul ketika konversi agama tersebut tidak selalu lahir dari kesadaran spiritual, melainkan karena faktor eksternal seperti tuntutan administratif, tekanan keluarga, atau legitimasi sosial. Hal ini menimbulkan dilema, baik dari perspektif hukum Islam yang mayoritas ulama menyatakan murtad dapat membatalkan pernikahan, maupun hukum positif Indonesia yang menuntut penyelesaian perceraian hanya melalui pengadilan. Kekosongan norma inilah yang memunculkan persoalan status pernikahan, hak anak, dan keberlangsungan rumah tangga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perpindahan agama salah satu pasangan pasca pernikahan dalam perspektif hukum Islam, sekaligus mengkritisinya dengan teori Maqashid al-Syari‘ah. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research), serta pendekatan undang-undang (statute approach), penelitian ini menelaah regulasi perundang-undangan, literatur fiqh klasik, dan kajian akademik kontemporer terkait konversi agama dalam pernikahan ,Namun, dalam konteks Indonesia, keputusan tersebut tidak otomatis berlaku karena harus diputuskan melalui pengadilan agama. Analisis dengan pendekatan maqashid al-syari‘ah menekankan bahwa fenomena konversi agama harus dilihat dari tujuan syariat, yaitu perlindungan agama (hifz al-din), jiwa (hifz al-nafs), keturunan (hifz al-nasl), kehormatan (hifz al-‘ird), dan harta (hifz al-mal Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya reformulasi regulasi hukum keluarga Islam di Indonesia agar lebih responsif terhadap fenomena konversi agama pasca pernikahan. Diperlukan aturan yang jelas, verifikasi motivasi yang adil, serta mekanisme mediasi berbasis maqashid untuk mencegah kerusakan sosial dan melindungi kemaslahatan keluarga.

Abstract

Generative AI tools are increasingly used for AI-mediated Informal Digital Learning of English (AI-IDLE), yet research has paid limited attention to how learners negotiate ethical responsibility and algorithmic bias during everyday, out-of-class use, particularly in value-oriented faculties. This qualitative study examined ethical awareness and perceived algorithmic bias in AI-IDLE among Sharia Faculty students at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Using a qualitative descriptive case study design, twelve undergraduates were recruited through purposive maximum-variation sampling. Data were generated from semi-structured interviews and a curated set of anonymized AI interaction artifacts (e.g., prompts and outputs for explanation, drafting, and translation), supported by brief artifact walkthroughs when feasible. Data were analyzed via reflexive thematic analysis with iterative coding, memoing, and cross-source comparison to strengthen interpretive transparency. Findings showed that ethical awareness operated as context-sensitive boundary-making: students differentiated AI as a learning scaffold versus a substitute for intellectual labor, tightened limits in assessment-adjacent tasks, and reclaimed authorship through substantive rewriting to preserve voice and stance. Ethical reasoning also included privacy stewardship through data minimization in prompts, though awareness varied. Regarding bias, students most often noted Western-centric framing in value-laden examples and language standardization that diluted pragmatic or culturally embedded meanings. Fluent outputs produced an authority effect, but many participants reported mitigation routines such as verification, requesting multiple viewpoints, and re-prompting for Indonesian/Islamic contextualization. The study implies that AI-IDLE guidance should integrate ethical boundary-setting, privacy-aware prompting, and critical AI literacy practices to support responsible and culturally responsive informal language learning.

Abstract

Generative AI (GenAI) has increasingly been incorporated into higher education and language learning because of its potential to provide immediate explanations, examples, and interactive support. In Sociolinguistics, however, limited research has examined how Generative AI supports students’ understanding of language variation concepts, particularly in Indonesian higher education contexts. To address this gap, this study investigated how students used Generative AI in a Sociolinguistics course and the extent to which it enhanced their understanding of language variation concepts at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. This study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. The participants were 32 undergraduate students enrolled in a Sociolinguistics course. The instruments consisted of a language variation concept test, a GenAI use questionnaire, weekly learning logs, and semi-structured interviews. Data were collected over six weeks through pretest and posttest administration, questionnaire distribution, learning-log documentation, and follow-up interviews with selected students. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired-samples t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The findings showed that students’ posttest scores (M = 69.75, SD = 10.81) were significantly higher than their pretest scores (M = 58.84, SD = 7.24), t(31) = 6.45, p < .001, with a large effect size (Cohen’s dz = 1.14). The qualitative findings revealed that students mainly used Generative AI to simplify difficult concepts, generate contextualized examples, refine their understanding through follow-up prompts, and verify AI-generated responses. Overall, Generative AI functioned as a supportive learning resource in Sociolinguistics, although its effectiveness depended on students’ critical and strategic use.

Abstract

The integration of digital technologies has become increasingly important in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction in higher education, particularly for improving student engagement and learning outcomes. Among emerging innovations, gamification and GenAI(GenAI) have attracted growing attention for their potential to make language learning more interactive, motivating, and supportive. However, previous studies have more often examined these two approaches separately, leaving limited evidence on how their integration may influence EFL learning achievement and student perception, especially in non-English-major contexts in Indonesian higher education. This study therefore aimed to investigate the extent to which the integration of gamification and GenAI enhanced EFL learning achievement and how students perceived its use in English learning. This study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. The quantitative phase used a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest nonequivalent control-group design involving students of the Faculty of Shariah at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Data were collected through pretest and posttest scores from experimental and control groups, followed by semi-structured interviews with selected students from the experimental group. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-tests, independent-samples t-tests, and ANCOVA, while the qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group in EFL learning achievement. The students also perceived the integration positively, particularly in terms of increased engagement, enjoyable learning experiences, and immediate linguistic support. These findings imply that integrating gamification and GenAI can serve as a promising instructional strategy for EFL learning in higher education, especially for non-English-major students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Bandar Lampung Mayor Regulation Number 1 of 2025 concerning Procedures for the Collection of Non-Metallic Mineral and Rock Tax (MBLB) and the MBLB Tax Surtax through the perspective of Siyāsah Tanfīdhiyyah. The analysis results indicate that the substantive provisions contained in Articles 7 and 8 of the Mayor Regulation are in line with the principle of Amānah (accountability) through an integrated payment system, as well as the principle of al-‘Adālah (justice) through the obligation to maintain honest business records in order to prevent excessive taxation. The enforcement of administrative sanctions within this regulation is categorized as a form of Ta‘zīr, aimed at preserving the authority of the law and public welfare (maṣlaḥah mursalah). This study further emphasizes that the normative effectiveness of this policy depends on the integrity and transparency of production data to prevent practices of al-bāṭil (unlawful acquisition of wealth). In conclusion, the MBLB tax surtax policy in Bandar Lampung City is not merely a fiscal instrument, but also a manifestation of the executive authority’s obligation to maintain a balance between natural resource exploitation and environmental restoration for the welfare of society.
