Abstract

Nowadays Buah Merah (Pandanus conoideus Lam.), the Indonesian herb is famous for medicinal treatment. The chemical constituens of the fruit have been examined, and brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT) have been carried out. On phytochemical screening, the fruit showed the existence of: volatile oil, sterol, triterpene, carrotene, higher fatty acid, flavon aglycon, emodols, coumarine, tannin, steroid glycoside, reducing compound, flavonoside, antosianoside and saponine. Brine Shrimp Lethality Test showed that the LCs of the n-hexane fraction of the fruit was 24.17 ppm, the ethyl acetate fraction was 29.24 ppm, while the methanol fraction was 94.01 ppm. It could be concluded that the n-hexane fraction has the highest biological activity.

Abstract

According to literatures, many plants of Papilionaceae family such as red bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L_), green bean (Phaseolus aureus Roxb.) and soybean (Glycine soja Sieb. & Zucc.) contain flavonoid, isoflavonoid and vitamin E. They all have antioxidant activity and are potential to reduce free radical. This research was aimed to identify secondary metabolites of crude powders and extracts of red bean, green bean and soybean. The bioactivity of each extracts was evaluated with Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (B SLT) method for preliminary assesment of toxicity. It was also evaluated for antioxidant activity using 1,1 difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH) method. The results showed that red bean, green bean and soybean contain saponin, flavonoid, steroid/triterpenoid, coumarin, and tannin. The result of BSLT showed that LC50 (Lethality Concentration 50) of red bean was 213.21 ppm; green bean 390.71 ppm; and soybean 252.75 ppm. The result of DPPH tests showed that IC50 (Inhibition Concentration 50) of red bean was 47.54 ppm; green bean 95.08 ppm; and soybean 90.43 ppm.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi aktivitas penghambatan tirosinase dan antioksidan (AO) dari ekstrak kombinasi mikroemulsi (MCE) kulit batang nangka (Artocarpus heteropyllus L.) dan kulit buah delima (Punica granatum L.) memiliki efek mencerahkan kulit secara alami untuk meningkatkan depigmentasi dan menentukan mikroemulsi. Kombinasi ekstrak (MCE) dalam penghambatan tirosinase dan aktivitas antioksidan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan formulasi sediaan nanoemulgel yang mengandung nanoemulsi kombinasi minyak biji argan dan ekstrak akar murbei yang memiliki aktivitas penghambat enzim tirosinase, serta memberikan manfaat gizi dan meningkatkan kesehatan kulit. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen. Bahan aktif yang digunakan adalah akar murbei (morus alba L) yang diperoleh dari perkebunan bogor dan minyak biji argan (Argania Spinosa L) yang diperoleh dari PT. Nardevchem. Bahan uji yaitu enzim tirosinase yang diperoleh dari Laboratorium Pusat Studi Biofarmaka. Hasil penetapan penapisan fitokimia dari ekstrak minyak biji argan dan akar murbei menunjukan bahwa minyak biji argan dan akar murbei mengandung alkaloid, saponin, tannin, fenolik, flavonoid, glikosida, triterpenoid. Hasil uji aktivitas inhibisi enzim tirosinase menunjukkan bahwa formula nanoemulgel memiliki potensi yang signifikan dalam menghambat aktivitas enzim tirosinase. Penambahan nanoemulsi minyak biji argan dan ekstrak akar murbei dalam formula nanoemulgel memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap efek inhibisi enzim tyrosinase. Formula terbaik yaitu formula II karena mempunyai zeta potensial dan TEM yang paling kecil.

Abstract

Clitoria ternatea flowers contain blue anthocyanin that has potential as natural coloring. The purpose of this study was to obtain an eyeliner product containing natural coloring that is safe, stable, and can replace hazardous chemicals. Clitoria ternatea flowers were extracted by kinetic maceration with 70% ethanol. The obtained extract was subjected to standard quality tests, phytochemical screening, and determination of total anthocyanin content and antioxidant activity (DPPH assay). Eyeliner-containing extracts were prepared in three pH variations (acidic, neutral, and alkaline). These three types of eyeliner preparations were subjected to an irritation test on shaved male albino white rabbit skin. stability test using the cycle test method, hardness, break point, and melting point were also performed. The results showed that Clitoria ternatea extract contains 0.2187% anthocyanin, has an antioxidant activity IC50 of104.7 µg/mL, and is free of heavy metals. The eyeliner contained Clitoria ternatea extract was dark blue when applied to the skin. Eyeliner preparations were stable in three stability cycle tests. The irritation test on the male albino rabbit skin showed no irritation. Clitorial ternatea extract can be used as natural coloring in eyeliner preparation.
