Abstract

Self-confidence and cognitive style are important variables that influence the behavior of students in the academic field, the continued development of academic abilities, how learning is carried out, and how they interact in classroom activities. Learning activities will be expected more effective because all of the learning steps going to be attractive and get to reach the learning achievements if students have good self-confidence. So, all of these things are related to mathematical communication ability. The data on students' mathematical communication ability scores that were influenced by two factors, the level of self-confidence and different cognitive styles, were analyzed by the experimental design carried out in this research was a 3x2 Completely Randomized Factorial Design. The observation data were analyzed statistically with the F-test at a significance level of 5%. From the test of between-subjects effects, the output data was on the ANOVA table. We can get the conclusion that there was factors interaction which can be seen by p-value (Sig.) < α = 0.05, which means rejected H0. There was an effect of interaction between self-confidence with cognitive style significantly to mathematical communication ability

Abstract

The dedication activities in SD Negeri Cihanjuang 2 aimed to introduce students to animated learning videos they did not get before in class. Animation-based learning video contains whole-number four basic arithmetic operations consisting of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division operations. In addition, the activity also used the evaluation of Crossword Puzzle quizzes and images they commonly find in everyday life to help students visualize abstract mathematical problems. The target of this activity is students-class VI SD Negeri Cihanjuang 2, which has 23 students. The six stages carried out in this activity, namely the preparation stage, group division stage, delivery of material through animation-based video learning and emphasis on the concept of whole-number operations stage, giving the Crossword Puzzle quizzes stage, discussion stage, and evaluation stage. Based on the observations, many students showed interest and positive responses in listening and paying attention to learning videos and actively asking and discussing during solving quizzes and discussing topics.

Abstract

Computational thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary for the future careers of pre-service mathematics teacher students in the 21st century. This study aims to analyse problem-solving activities in geometry teaching and corresponding assessment for pre-service mathematics teacher students from a computational thinking perspective. To do so, we carried out a qualitative case study through teaching and learning observations involving 41 pre-service mathematics teacher students from one of the state universities in West Java, Indonesia. In this study, 6 x 50 minutes of geometry teaching were observed, and written work containing problem-solving processes retrieved from the formative assessment was analysed from the computational thinking perspective. The results showed that two types of problem-solving activities are identified from the teaching and learning processes and the corresponding assessment, i.e., problem to find and problem to prove. We view that a problem to prove can typically be considered as a structured problem to find. Both types of problems can be fruitfully analysed using Polya’s problem-solving strategy from the computational thinking perspective. For future research, we recommend investigating each type of problem using more specific characteristics of computational thinking. Keterampilan berpikir komputasi (computational thinking)  dan pemecahan masalah diperlukan untuk karir masa depan mahasiswa calon guru matematika di abad ke-21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis aktivitas pemecahan masalah dalam proses pembelajaran geometri dan asesmennya untuk mahasiswa calon guru matematika dari perspektif berpikir komputasi. Untuk itu, kami melakukan studi kasus kualitatif melalui observasi proses pembelajaran yang melibatkan 41 mahasiswa calon guru matematika dari salah satu universitas negeri di Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini, kami mengobservasi pembelajaran geometri untuk calon guru matematika selama 6 x 50 menit, dan hasil tes tertulisnya yang berisi proses pemecahan masalah yang dianalisis dari perspektif berpikir komputasi. Hasil penelitian menemukan adanya dua jenis tipe pemecahan masalah, yang diidentifikasi dari pengamatan proses pembelajaran dan penilaian formative, yaitu masalah tipe menemukan dan masalah tipe membuktikan. Kami memandang bahwa masalah tipe membuktikan sebagai masalah terstruktur dari tipe menemukan. Kedua tipe masalah tersebut dapat dianalisis dengan baik menggunakan strategi pemecahan masalah Polya dari perspektif berpikir komputasi. Untuk penelitian mendatang, kami merekomendasikan untuk menelaah lebih lanjut setiap tipe masalah dengan menggunakan karakteristik berpikir komputasi yang lebih spesifik.

Abstract

In learning activities at school students often have difficulty solving math problems, especially during the process of solving math problems. Teachers must know the difficulties that students have when solving a mathematical problem in learning at school. The Aim of this study is to analyze student learning barriers in the material of trigonometric equations in 11th grade of senior high school. This research was conducted in one of the senior high schools in Lampung. The subjects of this study were students in that school. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection technique in this study is a written test and students interview. The data obtained were collected and then analyzed using descriptive analysis, by describing the results of student answers in the form of errors in answering test questions. The results showed that students had difficulties in understanding concepts, principles and operations on the material of trigonometric equations.Keywords: learning obstacle, student difficulties, trigonometric equations

Abstract

Solving word problems in linear programming presents significant challenges, not only for secondary school students but also for pre-service mathematics teachers. This study aims to investigate the cognitive processes of pre-service mathematics teachers in solving word problems related to linear programming. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive review of mathematics textbooks designed for pre-service teachers and secondary school students, as well as the corresponding curriculum, was conducted to identify an appropriate learning sequence for this topic. Subsequently, key problems were selected to facilitate learning, and predictions regarding the cognitive processes involved in solving these problems were formulated based on Newman’s error analysis framework. Following this preparatory phase, an individual written assessment was administered to 27 pre-service mathematics teachers to examine their problem-solving approaches in linear programming word problems. The findings of this study include the identification of essential word problems in linear programming and a comparative analysis between the predicted and actual problem-solving processes exhibited by the participants. In conclusion, this study highlights the potential of cognitive process predictions in anticipating learning difficulties and informing instructional strategies. These insights can be leveraged to provide targeted support for pre-service teachers facing challenges in problem-solving and to develop pedagogical interventions aimed at enhancing their problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine trends in research methods used in articles related to students' adaptive reasoning abilities in mathematics learning from 2015 to 2024 and to describe the improvement of students' adaptive reasoning abilities. The method employed was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) involving the identification, selection, evaluation, and data analysis of relevant articles. The reviewed articles were selected based on their relevance to students' adaptive reasoning, were published between 2015 and 2024, were sourced from Google Scholar, focused on junior high to senior/vocational high school levels, and were indexed in Sinta 1 to 3. Irrelevant articles published before 2015, not obtained from Google Scholar, outside the specified education levels, or published in proceedings and journals below Sinta 3 were excluded. Students' abilities increase by up to 82.7% with the use of Collaborative problem-solving-based tools and are very effective in improving students' adaptive reasoning abilities. This study emphasizes the importance of implementing innovative and adaptive teaching methods while considering individual student factors to enhance adaptive reasoning abilities in mathematics learning. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for educators in designing more effective teaching strategies.

Abstract

Misalkan G1 = R ._lex Z dan G2 = Z ,_lex R adalah grup abel terurut total. Bentuk umum setiap subgrup dari G1 adalah G ,_lex nZ, sedangkan bentuk umum subgrup dari G2 adalah nZ ,_lex G dengan G merupakan subgrup dari R dan n adalah anggota dari himpunan bilangan asli atau nol (n e N U {0}). Tujuan dari paper ini adalah memperoleh gambaran mengenai ideal urutan tak trivial dari G1 dan G2. Metode yang digunakan diawali dengan menentukan subgrup-subgrup dari R dan Z, kemudian menjumlahkan langsung subgrup-subgrup dari R dan Z tersebut. Hasil penjumlahan langsung tersebut merupakan subgrup-subgrup tak trivial dari G1 dan G2. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji sifat pengawetan urutan dari setiap bentuk subgrup tak trivial dari G1 dan G2 tersebut. Dari metode tersebut diperoleh hasil bahwa satu-satunya ideal urutan tak trivial dari G1 adalah subgrup {0} ,_lex Z dan satu-satunya ideal urutan tak trivial dari G2 adalah subgrup {0} ,_lex R, meskipun setiap subgrup tak trivial dari R dan Z masing-masing tidak memiliki sifat pengawetan urutan. Kesimpulan pada paper ini adalah bahwa satu-satunya ideal urutan tak trivial pada R ,_lex Z adalah {0} ,_lex Z yang isomorfik dengan Z sebagai grup, sedangkan satu-satunya ideal urutan tak trivial pada Z ,_lex R adalah {0} ,_lex R yang isomorfik dengan R sebagai grup.

Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan afektif yang harus dimiliki siswa adalah self-confidence. Awal tahun 2020 sistem pendidikan Indonesia menerapkan pembelajaran secara online karena Covid-19. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis self-confidence siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika pada saat penerapan pembelajaran secara daring. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 11 Garut. Sampel dipilih berdasarkan pertimbangan tertentu, dengan pertimbangan subjek mau bekerjasama selama penelitian dan dipilih satu kelas sebanyak 32 siswa sebagai sampel penelitian. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan angket secara online melalui google form. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interpretasi Self-Confidence siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika secara umum kelas XI di SMA Negeri 11 garut berada pada kategori sedang atau cukup yang berada pada rentang 2624 ≤ S < 3423. Interpretasi Self-Confidence siswa pada aspek percaya dengan kemampuan diri yang dimiliki dengan kategori cukup, aspek menunjukkan kemandirian dalam mengambil keputusan dengan kategori baik, aspek menunjukkan rasa optimis, bersikap tenang, dan pantang menyerah dengan kategori cukup, dan aspek Menunjukkan kemampuan beradaptasi dan bersoasialisasi dengan baik dengan kategori cukup. One of the affective abilities that students must have is self-confidence. Early in 2020, the Indonesian education system implemented online learning due to Covid-19. This study aims to analyze students' self-confidence in mathematics learning during the application of online learning. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a population of all grade's XI students of SMA Negeri 11 Garut. The sample was chosen based on purposive sampling, with consideration of the subject willing to cooperate during the study and selected one class of 32 students as a research sample. The research instrument used is a questionnaire. Data collection techniques are done by providing online questionnaires through a google form. The results showed students' self-confidence in mathematics learning grade XI at SMA Negeri 11 Garut was in the moderate or moderate category which was in the range of 2624 ≤ S < 3423. Interpretation of students' Self-Confidence on the aspect of believing in their abilities in the medium category, the aspect showing independence in making decisions in the high category, the aspect showing a sense of optimism, being calm, and unyielding in the medium category, and the aspect showing the ability to adapt and socialize with good in the medium category.

Abstract

Order ideals play an important role in the study of abstract algebra, especially in the study of ordered groups. In this paper, we focus on the study of order ideals in lexicographic direct sums of totally ordered Abelian groups. We begin by examining the order ideals in the group of integers , and the group of real numbers  It is shown that there are no non-trivial order ideals in both groups. Next, we revisit the order ideals in the lexicographic direct sum of two totally ordered Abelian groups,  The only non-trivial order ideal of  is  Furthermore, our study extends to the lexicographic direct sum of three totally ordered Abelian groups:  and  We investigate the non-trivial order ideals in these structures. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul berbasis digital pada mata kuliah Teori Grup. Hal ini dilakukan karena selama pandemic COVID-19 pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara tatap maya. Setelah pandemi berakhir, model pembelajaran yang memungkinkan dilaksanakan adalah secara Hybrid. Di samping itu saat ini sedang berjalan pertukaran mahasiswa antar program studi antar universitas (kegiatan MBKM) yang merupakan salah satu Kebijakan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan. Untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan tersebut diperlukan bahan ajar berbasis digital/Modul digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and development (R&D) di mana menciptakan bahan/materi ajar dan diuji keefektifan dari sebuah skema rancangan bahan ajar. Dari penelitian telah dihasilkan bahan ajar (modul) untuk 14 pertemuan, PPT untuk 14 pertemuan, 14 video pembelajaran untuk 14 pertemuan, infografis sebanyak tujuh buah, media audio sebanyak enam buah, contoh soal UTS, contoh soal UAS, dan hak cipta bahan ajar infografis.
