Abstract

Children's education from the start is education with the greatest content and is an investment in the world of education in the future. Preschool education is one of the levels of education that plays a role in introducing the systematics of life in a directed way to a child with various patterns and formats. Therefore, philosophically, preschool education is not about learning something or getting to know new things. Preschool education actually prioritizes the formation of a child's orientation towards everything that requires processes and interactions with things that can naturally enrich their thinking.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia still has a stunting problem, even though the stunting rate has decreased. The study analyses the association of the maternal education level with the incidence of stunted children under the age of two in poor communities in Indonesia.Method: The cross-sectional data from the Indonesian National Nutritional Status Survey 2021 examined 24,920 children under two years old. The relationship between the variables was tested using binary logistic regression.Result: The odds of having stunted children below the age of two are 1.705 times greater for women with no education than women with higher levels of education (AOR 1.705; 95% CI 1.667-1.744). Primary-educated mothers were 1.178 times increased risk of having stunted children under age two compared to higher-educated mothers (AOR 1.178; 95% CI 1.157-1.199). The study analysis found no significant difference between secondary and higher education to have stunted children. In addition to education level, the study also identified six other important control variables associated with stunting in children under the age of two: residence location, age of mother, married status, child's age, child's gender, and EIBF. According to the study's findings, stunting in children under the age of two is related to maternal educational levels among Indonesia's poor communities. An increased incidence of stunting in children under the age of two is associated with lower levels of maternal education.

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based learning has become an essential need to ensure that education remains relevant to the demands and changes in the world of education. The Arabic Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta implements a hybrid learning model in its learning process. The implementation of the hybrid learning model requires innovations that support learning, one of which is the adoption of a web-based Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) approach. Researchers found that students faced challenges in mastering Arabic speaking skills, including Pronunciation, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Content and Coherence. This study employs a pre-experimental research design using a one-group pre-test and post-test method. Data were collected through oral tests, observations, and interviews. Sampling was conducted using a non-probability sampling technique, specifically purposive sampling, involving 25 first-semester students from Class A of the Arabic Language Education program. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 24. The statistical test results, evidenced by the differences in the mean pre-test and post-test scores through paired sample t-test, show a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00 < 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results are further supported by the N-Gain score test, which shows an average N-Gain score of 71.0214, classified under Hake's category of g > 0.7 as high and Malzer's category of g > 0.7 as moderately effective. Through statistical analysis and testing, it can be concluded that learning using the web-based Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) approach has been proven effective in improving students' speaking skills.
