Abstract

Tanjung Sanai Village, Padang Ulak Tanding District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province. included in drug-prone areas based on research data from the Bengkulu Province National Narcotics Agency in the framework of the 2020 P4GN which mapped this drug-prone area with danger and alert categories and there are several cases where teenagers are trapped in the problem of smoking and use of illegal drugs. This is of course very concerning, so the team of lecturers and students from the Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dehasen Bengkulu University carried out Community Service (PKM) activities as a prevention effort, especially in drug and cigarette abuse among teenagers. The location chosen for this PKM activity was SMKN 5 Rejang Lebong which is located in Tanjung Sanai Village. The stages of this community service activity consist of the preparation stage, the activity implementation stage by providing materials, video screening, and the discussion stage. This is done by adopting a persuasive communication model by being equal, increasing discussions, directing gently, accompanying and listening to the complaints of activity participants so that the material can be well received. This activity went well, based on the results of the PKM team's observations, the persuasive communication approach used during the activity was able to provide good understanding to students in general, as seen from the students' enthusiasm during the discussion. It is hoped that this activity can be an anticipatory step in preventing the bad effects of drugs and cigarettes as well as a form of active concern for lecturers and students of the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dehasen Bengkulu University in transferring knowledge, skills and technology to the community, especially village youth.

Abstract

The Genre program is a forum for developing national character because it teaches adolescents to stay away from early marriage, premarital sex and narcotics. The research aims to find out the Communication Strategy of the Youth Information and Counseling Center (PIK R) Merpati on the Generation Planning Program at SMKN 3 Bengkulu City.The method used in this research is qualitative research. This research uses Everett M. Rogers' innovation diffusion communication model which consists of: The results showed that first, PIK R Merpati SMKN 3 Bengkulu City provided knowledge on the importance of maintaining adolescent reproductive health only by conducting direct socialization during student orientation (MOS) for students of SMKN 3 Bengkulu City, namely through regular meetings to PIK R Merpati members. Furthermore, knowledge is also carried out by indirect socialization through the Instagram account @pikrmerpatismkn3. Second, the persuasion of PIK R Merpati trainers is by giving appreciation to students in the form of gifts for being active in the education of maintaining adolescent reproductive health. The socialization media used by PIK R Merpati is by disseminating videos and pamphlets on social media Instagram account @pikrmerpatismkn3 such as animations, and cartoons. Third, the decision of students of SMKN 3 Bengkulu City is that the majority accept it while only one student rejects it. Fourth, Confirmation of students of SMKN 3 Bengkulu City accepts well the education of maintaining adolescent reproductive health on the grounds that they consider the information important. While students who reject education because they do not get permission from their parents. The Communication Strategy of the Merpati Youth Information and Counseling Center (PIK R) on the Generasi Berencana Program at SMKN 3 Bengkulu City has been running well but has not been fully maximized because the number of followers of PIK R Merpati participants has not shown a significant increase in the number of followers of PIK R activities each year, because the communication strategy focuses more on face-to-face socialization while socialization through media only Instagram accounts should involve more social media as a medium of education.

Abstract

Tiktok social media is not only a medium for entertainment, but is considered effective enough to be relied on in finding information regarding many things such as promotional searches, this is due to the increasing popularity among Millennial women today. The popularity of Tiktok social media makes people easily involved and inspired to use the TikTok application. This study aims to determine the effect of perceived enjoyment, perceived usefulness and intention to recommend on consumer purchase intention of millennial women in Bengkulu City. The results of this study found that perceived enjoyment has a positive effect on the buying interest of millennial women in Bengkulu City, meaning that using TikTok can provide enjoyment and pleasure to Millineal women so that they have the intention to make a purchase. Perceived usefulness has a positive effect on the buying interest of Bengkulu City Millennial women, meaning that TikTok is very useful for Millineal women, especially in making online purchase transactions, Millennial women really feel the usefulness of TikTok for shopping and choosing the products they want in the TikTok application so they don't have to leave the house to shop. Intention to recommend has a positive effect on Buying Interest of millennial women in Bengkulu City, meaning that if Millennial women feel the benefits of using TikTok they will recommend TikTok to others either directly inviting others to use TikTok or recommending through their social media accounts that they are very satisfied using the TikTok application.

Abstract

The design of content created by influencers and entrepreneurs to enhance performance and attract customer interest includes visual graphic design for logos or content creation. This study aims to determine if Canva as a design tool can be used for promotion by content creators. The principles of Visual Communication Design from Gestalt Theory include form similarity, pattern continuation, proximity, closure of form, and imagery. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The technique for determining informants is purposive sampling from two content creator accounts, namely Anggel Kitty Store and Traccy.id in November 2023. The research findings are firstly, form similarity with the use of color in the design, both using visual messages in the design; secondly, the continuity of patterns in pictures, colors, and fonts in the design and the presence of informative messages; thirdly, the proximity of positions grouped according to type and function in the design, both using the logo layout in the design; fourth, closure of shape using sketch classes and squares in the design; and fifth, the core images used by content creators as visual messages in promotion. The designs created through Canva are used as promotional media for skincare, accessories, and makeup to be uploaded on Instagram, updated in Instagram stories, and to determine the design of posters to be promoted. Using Canva Pro is more appealing because it has more features than the standard Canva, and the designs also look better.

Abstract

This research is entitled "Utilization of Shopee Features as Friendshio Media". The rapid development of technology affects changes in the new communication style carried out by the community. With the development of this technology, online media is not only a means of communicating but also used as a fulfillment of individual needs. With this, current technological advances can change patterns in staying in touch between individuals efficiently. The purpose of this study is to determine the utilization of Shopee features as a medium for friendship. This research uses qualitative research methods and uses data collection techniques by means of observation and interviews. This study uses the Uses and Gratifications theory, the results of which show that the utilization of the THR Shopee feature and the Bank Transfer feature is an innovation that supports many activities between individuals to stay in touch in different ways, informants use this feature with their various needs. There are 5 dimensions of needs that are in accordance with the informants in the Uses and Gratifications theory in utilizing the Shopee feature as a gathering media, namely: cognitive needs related to information and knowledge of the surrounding environment, affective needs related to the pleasant experience of individuals in utilizing a medium, personal needs related to work or personality, social needs related to family or friends in the neighborhood, and tension release needs related to the individual's desire to release pressure after doing something.

Abstract

Feast is a band that expresses social criticism through songs. Idealism in music, the use of words that contain figures of speech, and the themes presented make the author use the lyrics of the song "Maju" by the band .Feast as a study in this research. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The aim of this research is to find out the meaning of social criticism in the song "Maju" using Teun A. Van Dijk's approach. Critical discourse analysis using Teun A. van Dijk's approach model includes text dimensions, social cognition dimensions, and social context dimensions. The text dimension will analyze macro structure, superstructure and micro structure, then discuss it in the social cognition dimension and social context dimension to find the meaning of social criticism in the lyrics of the song "Maju". Analysis of song lyric data was carried out to describe the meaning of social criticism in the lyrics of the song "Maju" by .Feast. The results of this research show that there is social criticism in the lyrics of the song "Maju" sung by . survive and fight to the last drop of blood to defend the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. Courage is something that must be instilled in every human being and defending the rights that belong to us is a must.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of communication in determining acceptance of the BPNT program in Paku Haji Village, Central Bengkulu. The research method used in this research is research presented in a qualitative descriptive manner. The selection of informants was carried out using purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing and verification. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of communication in receiving BPNT is effective, seen from the first competency in communication between the government and officers who are able to provide motivation to recipients about improving community welfare. Knowledge of the BPNT program, its benefits and how to use it. Communication skills in conveying messages regarding the BPNT program effectively. The two communication media are using Infocus and preparing materials such as PowerPoint and WhatsApp social media. The three languages used in formal activities are Indonesian and when communicating with BPNT recipients use regional languages so they are easy to understand.

Abstract

Instagram with its features has encouraged Generation Z to self-disclose. Self-disclosure on Instagram has a unique form of communication. Individuals can choose to reveal aspects of their personal lives with varying degrees of openness. The purpose of this research is to find out how Generation Z discloses information about themselves (self-disclosure) which is often hidden as a form of communication through Instagram social media. The type of research used by researchers is qualitative research with an analytical approach in accordance with DeVito's Theory. The sampling method uses purposive sampling method. The result of the study is that self-disclosure by informants tends to be often done to people who are known according to the amount aspect in DeVito's Theory. The five informants have fulfilled the valence aspect of self-disclosure by conveying positive or negative expressions on Instagram through photo and video content. The five informants' self-disclosure has fulfilled the accuracy/honesty aspect of DeVito's Theory where self-disclosure actions are mostly based on existing reality. The five informants have fulfilled the intention aspect of DeVito's theory, namely conveying their intentions and goals even though the application is different. Each informant has a different level of familiarity and depth of self-disclosure material, depending on who the self-disclosure is disclosed to. This is in line with the intimacy aspect of DeVito's theory. Self disclosure made by the five informants on Instagram social media has fulfilled 5 aspects of DeVito's theory, namely amount, valence, accuracy/honesty, intention and intimacy.

Abstract

News is the latest information or information about something that is happening. News is usually presented through print, broadcast, internet or by word of mouth to third parties and the general public. This research aims to find out and analyze the critical discourse of kriminal news on Rakyat Bengkulu.Com (Study of Kriminal News by Police Officers Cabuli Young Women), this research is qualitative research. The results of this research show a critical discourse analysis of kriminal news on Rakyat Bengkulu.Com (Study of Kriminal News by Police Officers Obscuring Young Women) that in the analysis of the kriminal news text on Rakyat Bengkulu.Com, it can be seen that the text reflects a case of alleged immoral acts involving a police officer and a woman. From this analysis, it was found that the news described the case situation, chronology of events, investigation steps, and the victim's request for accountability. Furthermore, in discursive (mesostructural) analysis, it is shown that the mass media has ideological considerations and journalists' work routines in determining how news is presented. In the context of the Rakyat Bengkulu.Com news, this discursive aspect includes the production, dissemination and consumption of news which influences readers' understanding and reactions to the case. Finally, in socio-cultural (macrostructural) analysis, it was found that this case had situational, institutional and social dimensions that influenced various aspects of the victim's life, the responsibilities of the police institution and broader social issues. This shows the role of the media in shaping opinions and responding to relevant social and legal issues.

Abstract

Along with the times, advances in communication and information technology also have an impact on the cultural aspects of society, especially on the use of social media by Generation Z - a generation born in the era of information technology. The development of social media has led to the emergence of a new language style, which is often referred to as "slang" or "slang" language style. The role of social media in the spread of Slang is to Investigate how social media plays an important role in the spread and adoption of Slang styles among users by considering features such as user interaction, hashtag use, and content sharing capabilities. The social media platform Instagram served as the specific environment for this study, including features of the platform that are relevant to the use of Slang and users' communication behavior. The results of the above research show that the use of slang language styles among generation Z on Instagram social media has become a common phenomenon. This is in line with the characteristics of generation Z, which is known as a generation that is familiar with digital technology and social media
