Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini meneliti mengenai pengaruh penggunaan media cerita gambar berseri dalam kemampuan menulis naratif siswa terhadap siswa kelas XI SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi apakah atau tidak dengan menggunakan seri gambar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis naratif siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada penelitian eksperimental terhadap 70 siswa kelas XI SMA PGRI 2 Palembang tahun ajaran 2016-2017. Penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui media gambar berseri memberikan peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap menulis naratif siswa daripada menulis siswa dengan menggunakan strategi konvensional kepada siswa kelas delapan SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. Kata Kunci: Gambar berseri, Menulis, Naratif THE INFLUNCES OF USING PICTURES SERIES IN STUDENT’S WRITING NARRATIVE SKILL TO THE ELEVENTH OF SMA PGRI 2 PALEMBANG AbstractThis research investigated the influence of using pictures series in student’s writing narrative skill the eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. The objective of this study was to identify whether or not by using pictures series can improve the students ‘ writing narrative skill. This study was conducted in experimental research to 70 students from the eighth grade students of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang of the academic year of 2016-2017. This study could be concluded that pictures series strategy gave a significant improvement for the students’ writing narrative skill than the students’ writing narrative skill by using conventional strategy to the eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. Keywords: Pictures series, Writing, Narrative

Abstract

Abstract— Learning English through songs is one of the best method that the students focus on the lesson better. Because in a song has the variety new words and phrases with many different themes, so the students can learn some items of vocabulary, rhym of language, and grammatical structures that relating to any topic.The fact that English songs for the students are often easy and simple topic that they like most to learn and the students will learn song by hearing it many times, maybe memorization occurs via repetition. Using songs in teaching English is the great way to teach language for students who can not understand fully all the lyric but they still listen to music and sing follow their teacher or music because they are very interesting. However, the teacher should not forget the main purpose that using songs in teaching English is only the tool in order to aim the students in English classroom. In short, I hope that using songs will be effective way for students to enchance learning English and for teachers should choose suitable songs and create various activities to help students learn actively. Keywords— song, enchance learning Abstrak— Belajar Bahasa Inggris melalui lagu adalah salah satu metode terbaik agar siswa fokus pada pelajaran yang lebih baik. Karena dalam sebuah lagu terdapat variasi kata-kata dan frasa baru dengan banyak tema yang berbeda, sehingga para siswa dapat mempelajari beberapa item kosa kata, rhym bahasa, dan struktur gramatikal yang berkaitan dengan topik apa pun. Fakta bahwa lagu-lagu berbahasa Inggris untuk para siswa seringkali mudah dan topik sederhana yang paling mereka sukai untuk dipelajari dan siswa akan belajar lagu dengan mendengarnya berkali-kali, mungkin hafalan terjadi melalui pengulangan. Menggunakan lagu dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris adalah cara terbaik untuk mengajarkan bahasa bagi siswa yang tidak dapat memahami sepenuhnya semua lirik tetapi mereka masih mendengarkan musik dan bernyanyi mengikuti guru atau musik mereka karena mereka sangat menarik. Namun, guru tidak boleh lupa tujuan utama bahwa menggunakan lagu dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris hanyalah alat untuk membidik siswa di kelas bahasa Inggris. Singkatnya, saya berharap bahwa menggunakan lagu akan menjadi cara yang efektif bagi siswa untuk meningkatkan belajar bahasa Inggris dan untuk guru harus memilih lagu yang sesuai dan membuat berbagai kegiatan untuk membantu siswa belajar secara aktif.. Kata Kunci— lagu, belajar enchance

Abstract

The Covid-19 Pandemic situation made the Government announce  online learning activities.  This policy and it was relationship with teacher strategy at interesting teaching to learn. So that, This research was focused on the strategy that the teacher and used in impelemanting learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Namely distance learning (PJJ), so that it could runned effectively, optimally, and run well. This research aimed to describe the strategy of teachers in teaching Speking during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subject was class VIIB  English teacher, and grade VIIB students. Data collection techniques in this research were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research show that the teacher used an expository strategy that emphasized the teaching and learning process directed to achieve learning objectives.  Analysis of online teacher learning methods with virtual media as a supporting means used two learning methods, first, the assignment method through the google classroom application, the results of the answer sheets were collected directly to the school, and then the second learning method was question and answer through Zoom Meeting and WhatsApp Group. The conclusion obtained from this research was that the teacher strategy in teaching speaking at Junior High School Prabumulih during the Covid-19 Pandemic could be seen from: teaching objectives, teaching approach, and teaching methods.

Abstract

Tema kegiatan Pengabdian ini adalah Penerapan Media Interaktif aplikasi Johnny Grammar’s Word Challenge pada Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang berlokasi di SMA Negeri 11 Palembang. Tema ini dipilih karena saat ini, sebagian besar siswa menggunakan ponsel hanya untuk bermain game, berinteraksi di media sosial, dan berkomunikasi satu sama lain. Dengan penerapan media aplikasi Johnny Grammar’s Word Challenge merupakan metode yang baik dan tepat untuk memperkenalkan siswa dalam mempelajari Irreguler Verb, sehingga bisa meningkatkan kemampuan tata bahasa siswa dalam Bahasa Inggris. Kegiatan Peengabdian ini dilakukan dengan pemberian materi media aplikasi Johnny Grammar’s Word Challenge oleh tim dosen kemudian dilanjutkan dengan diskusi tanya jawab yang didampingi oleh dosen dan mahasiswa. Dengan menggunakan aplikasi ini, para siswa dan guru lebih antusias dan tertarik serta mudah memahami tata bahasa khususnya Irreguler Verb dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Culture is one of the factors that influence resilience. Cultural diversity plays an important role for individuals in adapting to difficult conditions and situations. The purpose of this article was to analytically describe the differences in cultural resilience of students’ University of PGRI Palembang based on indigenous South Sumatran ethnic groups and immigrant ethnic groups in South Sumatran. The respondents of this study were students’ Guidance and Counseling study program of University of PGRI Palembang in semester II, IV, VI, and VIII of the indigenous tribes of South Sumatra with a total number of respondents as many as 80 students. The data collection method in this study used a cultural resilience questionnaire which was designed based on the theory developed by Clauss Ehlers and Reivich K and Shatte which consisted of six aspects of resilience, namely emotion regulation, impulse control, achievement, global coping, adaptive coping and socio-cultural support. The data analysis method used in this study by the Anova test. The results showed that there was no difference in resilience between students’ indigenous and immigrant in South Sumatran.

Abstract

Praktik Lapangan atau dikenal sebagai kegiatan Magang merupakan salah satu program dari Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) yang dicanangkan oleh Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mendorong mahasiswa untuk menguasai berbagai keilmuan sebagai bekal memasuki dunia kerja. Dalam kegiatan magang ini juga mahasiswa mendapatkan kesempatan untuk dibimbing langsung oleh mentor dan pembimbing lapangan yang sudah ahli di bidangnya. Kegiatan magang yang dilaksanakan mahasiswa PGRI Palembang bertempat di PT. Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk. yang berlokasi di JL. Abikusni Cokrosuyoso, Kertapati Palembang. Adanya perbedaan rumpun ilmu mahasiswa dengan tempat magang adalah hal yang melatarbelakangi kegiatan ini berlangsung. Ketidakrelevanan ini menjadi tantangan yang harus dihadapi mahasiswa agar mahasiswa mendapatkan hardskill dan softskill yang berbeda dari rumpun ilmu di bangku kuliah. Sehingga nantinya akan menghasilkan keterampilan teknis dan nonteknis yang bisa dilihat setelah mahasiswa melakukan magang. Kegiatan magang dilaksanakan oleh 1 mahasiswa PGRI Palembang mulai tanggal 9 Oktober 2023 – 22 Desember 2023. Metode peraktik kerja yang dilaksankan oleh mahasiswa yakni Partisipasi Aktif, Observasi dan Wawancara Spontan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan magang ini mahasiswa memiliki pengetahuan tentang bagaimana pengelolaan suatu sistem informasi yang digunakan di PT. Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk. dalam hal penarikan absensi, data cuti, lemburan, callout, dll dengan dua aplikasi yaitu Easy Access dan SAP HCM. Selain hardskill tersebut, mahasiswa juga memperoleh softskill seperti disiplin waktu dalam bekerja, bertanggungjawab terhadap tugas yang diberikan, cara penyelesaian suatu masalah dan cara untuk menganalisa data.

Abstract

The researchers had found that learning reading are (1) investigating whether there was a significant difference of students’ reading comprehension achievement before and after being taught by using Guessing Meaning from Context strategy, (2) findingout in terms of strategies for Guessing Meaning from Context which strategies produced better achievement by the students.The researchers carried out quantitative study with one group Pre-test Post-test Design, involving one class as experimental class. The instrument in this research was reading test. The data analysis showed there was a significant difference on students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught by using Guessing Meaning from Context strategy. Then, surrounding words, pictures, experience, and imagination as the strategiesincreased the most than the otherstrategies. Hypothesis test showed that the significance value (2- tailed) was 0.000 (p<0.05). It could be concluded that null-hypothesis was rejected. So, the result of the research inferred Guessing Meaning from Context to be able to improve the students’ reading comprehension in all aspects. Keywords: guessing meaning from context, improving, reading skill.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to increase the students’ skill in reading narrative text by using Know-Want-Learned strategy at the eight grade students of Junior High School 3 Palembang. This research of this study was conducted by using classroom action research. The data used in this research are the result the pre-test to know the improvement of students in reading narrative text. The mean of the pre-test was 64,5. The mean of the first cycle was 84,85, it indicated that the scores and the mean in first cycle were better than the pre-test. The percentage of students who got point 75 or more there was also grew up. In the pre-test, there was 10 students (25%) who passed or got score up to 75. In the post-test of cycle I the students who got point 75 or more there was 40 (100%) and the increasing was about 75%. In other words, the students’ skill in reading narrative text improved and became well in the first meeting to the next meeting. For the hyphothesis testing used t-test formula from the compilation, it could be seen that coefficient of it could be seen that coefficient of tobserved (16,72) > ttable (0,316). Thus, alternative hyphothesis (Ha) could be received. Based on the research, It could be get that using Know-Want-Learned (KWL) Strategy could increase the students’ skill in reading narrative text.

Abstract

This study aims to find out: (1) Is there a significant difference in the Sketch to Stretch strategy in improving students' reading skills in offline learning?, (2) Does conventionally have a significant difference in improving students' reading skills through online learning? and (3) Is there any contribution to increasing students' reading ability by increasing motivation to learn offline and online learning?. To determine the effectiveness of the Sketch to Stretch strategy, researchers had taken two research samples. The first group was taught using the Sketch to Stretch strategy in offline learning and the second used conventional strategies in online learning. To collect data, both groups were given a speech test and a learning motivation questionnaire. The results showed that there was a significant difference in learning motivation in the reading ability of students of the 1A semester English study program after being taught using the Sketch to Stretch strategy. So it can be concluded that the Sketch to Stretch strategy learning has an effect on reading ability and increasing student learning motivation.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the teachers and students perceptions and the challenges that faced by the teachers and students in teaching and learning by using Bilingual Education Program at Senior High School of Sumatera Selatan Palembang. This study applied qualitative descriptive method. The population of this study was 4 science and math teachers and 25 of 10th grade students. The data were collected by using close- ended questionnaire and interview. The results showed that Bilingual education program is a good program. There were so many benefits for the teachers and students. This program required the teachers and students to speak English even the subject are mathematics and science. Bilingual was giving the chance for the teachers and students to get new experiences. The teachers and students reported to having limited English skills and particularly in terms of scientific terminology.
