Abstract

Increasing achievement motivation in children, parents need tools to educate them about co-parenting and how to develop achievement motivation in children. Parents also need a means to discuss their parenting patterns and monitor their children. This research aims to develop a coparenting-based mobile application. This type of research is development research that follows the ADDIE development model. The data collection method uses a questionnaire. The data collection instrument uses a questionnaire sheet. The validation sheet is filled in by psychology, technology, and design experts. 92 parents of elementary school students also tested this application in grades 4-6. The data analysis technique uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of the research, namely expert validation, show that the Duet application has content that is very suitable and useful for helping parents improve co-parenting in order to develop children's achievement motivation (96.30%), is very technologically reliable (83.20%), and has very good design effectiveness (93.33% ). The results of trials on parents showed that this application was very well accepted by parents (81.09%). It was concluded that DUET, a co-parenting-based mobile application, can be used as a tool for parents to develop co-parenting to increase children's achievement motivation. The implication of this research is that the coparenting-based mobile application developed can be used by teachers and parents to improve children's achievement.

Abstract

Communication is an important factor in marriage; however, not all couples are able to maintain effective communication, even in long-term marriages. This study aims to examine the influence of authoritarian parenting in childhood and emotional intelligence on communication in marriages of more than 10 years. The method used is a quantitative correlational with 200 participants in East Java who have been married for at least 10 years. The instruments used were The Three Couples Scales (PREPARE/ENRICH), Parenting Styles and Dimension Questionnaire (PSDQ), and Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence (WLEIS). The results showed a significant effect overall; however, partially, only emotional intelligence had a significant effect, while authoritarian parenting did not. This indicates that emotional intelligence plays a greater role in marital communication.

Abstract

Intimacy is very important in determining the longevity of a marriage. In East Java, Surabaya is the fourth city with the highest number of divorces, with 4938 couples deciding to divorce in 2016 (JPNN, 2017). This study aimed to analyze the role of trust and forgiveness towards marital intimacy in dual-earner husbands or wives in Surabaya. This study used a quantitative research design. Populations in this study were working individuals with a working spouse (including part-time and freelance), living in Surabaya, and still engaged in marital relationships. The study sample consisted of 107 subjects selected using the convenience sampling technique. Data collection was obtained through an online questionnaire on Google Forms. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression tests on the JASP (Jeffreys’s Amazing Statistics Program) program. The results showed that trust and forgiveness played a significant role in marital intimacy in dual-earner husbands or wives (F(2,104) = 48,46; p<0,001). Only trust had a significant effect on marital intimacy (t = 7,375; p<0,001) whereas forgiveness had no significant effect on marital intimacy (t = 1,394; p > 0,05).
