Abstract

Abstract

Controlling rat at the farmer level has a variety of methods, one of which is the use of natural enemies to control the population. Owls were introduced by PPL to farmers as a natural enemy of controlling rats. This research aims to determine the role of PPL in introducing owls as rat control. The role of PPL is assessed by farmers in introducing rat control with owls as communicators, facilitators, motivators and innovators. The results obtained show that farmers assess the role of extension agents as communicators as the highest role of PPL in introducing rat pest control with owls, while their role as facilitators is assessed as the lowest role by farmers. Abstract

Literary works have the potential to function as a social document, outlining social history. Because of that, social picture can be abstracted from literature. This research delves into Mangunwijaya's novels “Durga Umayi” and “Burung-Burung Rantau” to examine the concepts of nationalism. The textual analysis of the narratives is done through identification of symbols and allusion, and the stories are perceived as national allegories. Theories of symbol, allusion, and allegory by Johnson Arp and Harmon Holman are utilized in the textual analysis. To draw the abstraction about nationalism, the researchers refer to Benedict Anderson’s theory. In the “Durga Umayi”, through the character of Iin Sulinda Pertiwi Nusamusbida, Mangunwijaya shows in achieving independence of the country, individuals involved are vulnerable. They can turn bitter and lose their purpose, even sell their own nation. Meanwhile, in “Burung-Burung Rantau”, Mangunwijaya shows the different characters in engaging to nationalism. The protagonist, Neti, exemplifies the idea of nationalism through her critical outlook on her own tradition. She opens herself to global values and derive from it good practices to be applied in her own country, Indonesia. The two narratives suggest that people must have a sense of allegiance to their nation while being critical, and they must understand their duties on the world stage. Additionally, that sense of nationalism must be shown through solidarity with one's fellow citizens, particularly the impoverished one.

Abstract

The success of oil palm cultivation is closely related to the quality of seedlings produced in the nursery phase. This study evaluated the potential acceleration of early growth in oil palm seedlings by optimizing biochar-based growing media combined with organic–inorganic fertilizer formulations. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments: M1 (10 g urea + 50 g organic fertilizer), M2 (10 g NPK + 50 g organic fertilizer), and M3 (10 g urea + 10 g NPK). Each treatment was replicated ten times, resulting in 30 seedlings per replicate. Growth observations were conducted weekly from week 4 to week 20 (approximately four months), covering seedling height, leaf number, and stem diameter. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA at a 5% significance level, complemented by effect size analysis (?² and ?²) at week 20 to quantify the biological treatment's influence, and descriptive evaluation of the growth trend. The results showed no significant differences among treatments (p > 0.05). However, all treatments exceeded the physiological growth standards for four-month-old seedlings. M3 produced the highest growth response, with relative increases of 200% in height, 177.8% in leaf number, and 133.3% in stem diameter compared with the standard. These findings suggest that biochar-based growing media, combined with integrated organic-inorganic fertilizer formulations, can enhance early vegetative growth, although statistical significance has not yet been achieved within four months. Further observation up to ten months is recommended to validate the consistency of this growth acceleration.

Abstract

This study examines Indonesia’s immigration policies in managing the mobility of MICE delegates attending international conferences. Delegates’ mobility is a strategic element of business tourism, influencing participant arrival efficiency, travel experience, and overall destination competitiveness. The research analyzes the effectiveness of visa-on-arrival schemes, e-visa mechanisms, conference-specific immigration facilitation, and interagency coordination that supports participant flows. Data were drawn from regulatory reviews, institutional reports, and empirical insights from event organizers. Findings indicate that responsive and integrated immigration policies significantly enhance Indonesia’s attractiveness as a MICE destination, particularly in terms of accessibility, processing time, and procedural certainty. Nevertheless, challenges remain in regulatory harmonization, technological readiness, and policy literacy among stakeholders. This study recommends strengthening event-based immigration service models to improve Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global MICE market.
