Abstract

Telon oil and children have been an inseparable unity. The making of telon oil from easy-to-find traditional ingredients can encourage home industry ideas for economic growth. The use of essential oils (orange oil/ lavender oil) as components of the making of telon oil is expected to avoid mosquito bites causing itching and even dengue fever. The community service activity program aims to provide training of anti-mosquito telon oil making to keep children healthy. The participants of the program include a cadre of PKK (Family Welfare Movement) members in RW (Community Unit) 21, Nusukan Village, Banjarsari Sub-district, Surakarta. The community service activity began with the explanation of natural ingredients used to make telon oil as well as their benefits. Afterward, the training was conducted through several stages including a tutorial, technical assistance by the community service team, and evaluation of the activity. The results of the activity are: 1) the participants have an understanding of the benefits of the ingredients used; 2) the participants understand the procedure to make the anti-mosquito telon oil; 3) the participants can make the anti-mosquito telon oil by themselves.

Abstract

Daun kelor (Moringa oleifera Lam.) secara empiris maupun berdasarkan hasil penelitian ilmiah terbukti memiliki efek terhadap beberapa penyakit kardiovaskular. Namun masih diperlukan penjelasan mengenai mekanisme kerja serta senyawa apa yang berpotensi aktif untuk pengobatan penyakit kardiovaskular. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan kimia dalam daun kelor yang diprediksi aktif terhadap protein target untuk terapi penyakit kardiovaskular secara in silico dengan metode analisis penambatan molekul. Prediksi protein target dilakukan dengan menggunakan webserver SwissTargetPrediction, SEA Search Server, dan SuperPrediction. Pemodelan interaksi senyawa dari daun kelor terhadap protein target hasil prediksi dilakukan dengan analisis penambatan molekul menggunakan perangkat lunak Autodock Vina yang kemudian divisualisasikan menggunakan Protein-Ligand Interaction Profiler (PLIP). Parameter yang diamati adalah energi bebas ikatan (ΔGbinding) dan kesesuaian residu asam amino yang terlibat dalam interaksi. Hasil skrining protein target menunjukkan bahwa senyawa-senyawa kimia dalam daun kelor diprediksi akan berinteraksi dengan Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE), 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl Coenzyme A Reductase (HMGCR), reseptor β1-adrenergik, thrombin (faktor II), dan reseptor aldosteron. Berdasarkan hasil analisis Penambatan molekul, senyawa N-ɑ-L-rhamnopyranosyl vincosamide diprediksi memiliki afinitas terbaik terhadap enzim HMGCR, trombin, dan reseptor aldosteron dengan nilai ΔGbinding berturut-turut -11,1; -9,2; dan -11,2 kkal/mol. Kuersetin diprediksi memiliki afinitas terbaik terhadap reseptor aldosteron dengan nilai ΔGbinding -8,7 kkal/mol. Daucosterol diprediksi memiliki model interaksi paling sesuai dengan ligan asli terhadap HMGCR  dan trombin, sedangkan N-ɑ-L-rhamnopyranosyl vincosamide terhadap reseptor aldosteron.

Abstract

Loquat leaf (Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl.)  have been known to contain flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids and glycosides, these compounds have the potential to be antioxidants and can ward off free radicals. The purpose of this study was to determine the fraction of n-hexane ethyl acetate and water with extract of loquat leaf which have antioxidant activity, and to find out, respectively, which fraction had the most active activity from the IC50 value in activity antioxidant. The extraction method of loquat was macerated using 96% ethanol and then fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water. The obtained fraction was tested for antioxidant activity against free radicals using the DPPH method using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at the wavelength of 516 nm. The results of the loquat leaf fraction test have antioxidant activity which can be seen from the IC50 value, namely the n-hexane fraction is 1792 ppm, the ethyl acetate fraction is 89.60 ppm, the water fraction is 394.99 ppm, and quercetin is 13.03 ppm, so the most active antioxidant is obtained ethyl acetate

Abstract

Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manggis memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi, antidiabetes, antibakteri, antihiperurisemia dan antiinflamasi. Daun manggis mengandung zat berkhasiat yaitu triterpenoid, flavonoid, tanin dan saponin. Besarnya kemampuan tabir surya ditentukan melalui nilai SPF yang menyatakan lamanya kulit seseorang berada dibawah sinar matahari tanpa mengalami sengatan surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui uji aktivitas tabir surya dan antioksidan ekstrak etanol 95% daun manggis secara invitro. Proses ekstraksi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 95%. Penetapan aktivitas tabir surya yaitu menggunakan spektrofotometer pada panjang gelombang 290 hingga 320 nm. Penentuan nilai SPF didasarkan pada persamaan Mansur. Penentuan aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan alat spektrofotometer pada panjang gelombang maksimal dengan metode DPPH. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah nilai sun protection factor (SPF) ekstrak daun manggis sebagai berikut: konsentrasi 41,28 µg/ml sebesar 4,26, konsentrasi 41,16 µg/ml sebesar 3,74 dan konsentrasi 40,88 µg/ml sebesar 3,18 tergolong memiliki proteksi minimal. Penetapan aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 17,64 µg/ml tergolong sangat kuat. Ekstrak etanol 95% daun manggis mengandung golongan senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, triterpenoid, tanin dan saponin.

Abstract

Excessive sun exposure is dangerous for humans because it has many detrimental effects on the eyes, immune system as well as on the skin. Sunscreen can prevent the harmful effects of UV radiation and free radicals. Flavonoid compounds in mangosteen rind have natural sunscreen activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical quality and stability and activity of the ethanol extract gel of mangosteen peel in vitro with variations of carbopol 940. The extract was obtained from the maceration process using 70% ethanol. The gel was formulated using 0.1% extract and 0.5% gelling agent variations; 1%; and 1.5%. Gel test parameters including organoleptic test, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, spreadability, adhesion stability test cycling test, and sunscreen gel activity test were carried out in vitro by measuring the value of Sun Protection Factor (SPF) using UV spectrophotometry. The results showed that the 0.1% mangosteen rind ethanol extract gel formulation with variations of the gelling agent carbopol 940 0.5;1 and 1.5% had good physical quality and stability as well as sunscreen activity with an SPF value of 41,099; 39,898; 39,270 with the ultra category.

Abstract

Food is needed to develop individual actual knowledge so that food must be of good quality and nutritious. One of them is cooking oil which is used to fry food. Heating when frying causes an increase in free fatty acids. This study aims to determine the levels of free fatty acids in various cooking oils after and before frying with a variation of one time to meet government quality raw material standards. Free fatty acid content test in bulk cooking oil of palm oil, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil after and before frying using the alkalimetric titration method. The One Way Anova test was carried out to see if there was a difference in the increase in free fatty acid levels of the three cooking oils, and continued with the Tukey test. The government quality standard for palm oil and sunflower seed oil is a maximum of 0.30%. The results showed that palm cooking oil before frying was 0.44% and after one time frying was 0.61%, sunflower seed cooking oil before frying was 0.32% and after one frying time was 0.76%. Soybean oil at the time of research before frying 0.31% and after one frying 0.59%, this shows that it meets government quality standards with a maximum of 2.00%.

Abstract

According to several studies, the rambusa plant has great antioxidant, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antihyperuricemic and anti-inflammatory activity. Rambusa leaves have nutritive compounds such triterpenoids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) number, which defines the length of time a person's skin can be exposed to sunlight without experiencing sunburn, determines the quantity of sunscreen's effectiveness. The purpose of this study is to examine the composition and in vitro sunscreen activity of a 95% ethanol extract of rambusa leaves. This research began with making rambusa leaf powder. The powder obtained is followed by determining the water content. This study used the maceration method of extraction with a 95% ethanol solvent. Sunscreen activity is measured using a spectrophotometer at a wavelength between 290 and 320 nm. The Mansur method is employed for determining the SPF value. The study's findings showed that the SPF value of rambusa leaf extract was 4.26 at a concentration of 41.28 g/ml has moderate protection, 3.74 at a dosage of 41.16 g/ml, and 3.18 at a concentration of 40.88 g/ml, which was categorized as providing only minimal protection. Furthermore, alkaloid, flavonoid, triterpenoid, tannin, and saponin chemicals are present in the 95% ethanol extract of rambusa leaves. Penetapan aktivitas tabir surya menggunakan alat spektrofotometer pada panjang gelombang 290 hingga 320 nm. Penentuan nilai SPF menggunakan metode Mansur. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah nilai SPF ekstrak daun rambusa sebagai berikut: konsentrasi 41,28 µg/ml sebesar 4,26 memiliki proteksi sedang, konsentrasi 41,16 µg/ml sebesar 3,74 dan konsentrasi 40,88 µg/ml sebesar 3,18 tergolong memiliki proteksi minimal.
