Abstract

The existence of the online dating application Tinder has changed people's behavior patterns in terms of finding a mate. Tinder does make it easier to find a mate, but some people give a negative assessment. Many Tinder users abuse the app, causing negative publicity. For example, news about the mutilation incident in the Kalibata City apartment, fraud and theft of motorbikes in the city of Banyumas, and sexual predators using the Tinder application. This negative publicity can cause a change in the attitude of teenagers using Tinder. This study aims to describe the acceptance of teenagers in Surabaya to negative news about the Tinder application. This study uses a qualitative method with a virtual ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques through participant observation, and interviews with six informants. Reception analysis using the encoding-decoding model from Stuart Hall. The results showed that negative news about the Tinder application resulted in the emergence of anxiety and worry for its users. This educates Tinder users to be more careful and selective in choosing a mate (negotiated positional). This study concludes that negative publicity raises awareness among Tinder users that crime can take place through online dating apps. The Tinder app needs to be 18 years old to download and install. Teenage users need to be more aware of the potential for cyber abuse through Tinder.

Abstract

#WomanWorld is an instagram comic series created by @aminder_d with the sci-fi comedy genre by presenting the lives of a group of women who struggle for their survival in the post-extinction world of men. The #WomanWorld comic presents a series of characters who represent freedom of expression by carrying the feminist concept from the first wave to the post-feminist phase. With technology and social media networks, as well as the fourth wave feminism movement has been started, this study examines the extent of the content of feminism and post-feminism in this comic. Netnography and Textual Analysis are a method to know which one is Feminism and Post-feminism contained in this comic. This article shows how the storyline and characters in comics represent the concept of first to third wave feminism. By using post-feminism conceptual dialogue, this comic reverses its axis by creating an understanding that the desired world of women has been created, women are no longer struggling to get choices of life.

Abstract

Web series adalah produk yang menayangkan program serial drama yang konsepnya hampir sama seperti di televisi, namun yang membuat berbeda adalah pendistibusiannya melalui media sosial. Web series “Mulih” merupakan web series dari Indonesia yang memiliki alur cerita tentang konflik keluarga yang ditampilkan sebagai inti dari web series ini. Pada penelitian ini web series “Mulih” akan menggunakan analisis semiotika milik Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dalam menganalisis representasi konflik keluarga yang terjadi antara Bapak dan Wahyu menurut semiotika Roland Barthes. Penelitian ini berlangsung selama delapan bulan untuk mengamati rekaman web series. Penulis menggunakan unit analisis penelitian ini dengan kumpulan potongan adegan gambar dalam web series “Mulih” dengan menggunakan teori semiotika milik Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terjadinya tiga tahapan yaitu analisis Denotasi, Konotasi, dan Mitos dan menghasilkan 5 jenis konflik keluarga : fase permasalahan perbedaan pendapat, fase komunikasi yang buruk, fase masalah kesehatan, fase masalah keuangan, dan fase masalah pribadi.

Abstract

Mentoring has become one of the important factors in improving the quality of knowledge and marketing for swallow farmers. The research aims to explore the assistance of swallow farmers through the application of Brand and Communication Marketing by the Swallow Headquarters in increasing the knowledge and marketing of swallow farmers. In the context of sales, brand assistance and communication marketing help swallow farmers in increasing sales of their swallow products. With the right communication strategy, they can communicate the benefits, value, and uniqueness of swallow products to potential consumers, which in turn drives consumer interest and influences purchasing decisions. In addition, this assistance also expands the market reach of swallow farmers and helps them in building stronger relationships with consumers through relevant communication channels.

Abstract

One of the problems causing society's prosperity low level is the imbalance of population growth, economic growth, and health. BKKBN (National Family Planning Coordinating Board) has a role to measure and control the growth of Indonesia's population through the KB (The Family Planning Program). In Yogyakarta, especially in Wonokromo Village, Pleret, Bantul Regency, the implementation and socialization of KB program had some obstacles because most people thought that the program seemed to be contrary to the way of the Islamic rules. Therefore, the ulama have a crucial role in changing of community’s perspective on KB in the context of Islam. Based on the background of those problems, the researcher was interested in this topic of research to understand Ulama’s role for BKKBN and the community from communication science perspective, especially Development Communication. The qualitative descriptive method is the basic method in this research. The result of the research is that Ulama play an important role in the Interpersonal Communication process with the BKKBN, and play a major role in disseminating the family planning program to the Wonokromo Community. Ulama played a role in interpreting and communicating the Family Planning Program in accordance with the Islamic perspective, so that people can accept and implement the program.

Abstract

The community service, especially for UMKM, in the form of creating a sales website aims to enhance the branding of Triple's Branded UMKM and assist UMKM in understanding the use and management of websites as a current promotional media. The creation of this website goes through three main stages carried out as part of this community service, including the preparation stage which involves field studies, needs analysis, and permits, then the second stage is the implementation and design of the website, and finally the evaluation stage. The community service in creating a website for UMKM has yielded results in increasing the knowledge and skills of Triple's Branded UMKM in managing and operating the website as a promotional medium by showcasing products aimed at increasing sales.

Abstract

Sasanti Wiyata Special School (SLB) is one of the special schools in Surabaya that has students with special needs. The results from the focus group discussion revealed the partners' issues, namely the lack of utilization of information and communication technology and the insufficient digital learning experiences for children with special needs. This community service activity aims to enhance the partners' skills in using digital-based learning methods and to improve the abilities of students with special needs in utilizing digital technology for learning. The method of implementing this community service is carried out by providing training, assistance, and evaluation of activities. The training and mentoring were measured using pre-tests and post-tests. The pre-tests and post-tests were processed using descriptive statistics, which showed an improvement in the understanding and skills of the teachers in creating, using, and integrating learning materials on the DXML (Difabel Experience Management Learning) platform. This platform serves as a tool that integrates the Learning Management System (LMS) and the Learning Experience Platform (LXP). The advantage (value proposition) of the synergy between the implementation of LMS and LXP is the customizable DXML that can be tailored to the characteristics of children with special needs at SLB Sasanti Wiyata, specifically those who are hearing impaired and intellectually disabled. From this activity, an increase in the skills of teachers and students in using the DXML digital platform was achieved, making the teaching and learning process easier. Therefore, this community service needs to be carried out continuously.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector. Although the pandemic has caused most sectors to experience huge losses, SFC Dobel Tree as one of the MSMEs in Bojonegoro Regency is able to survive and be able to develop its business until after the pandemic. The right marketing strategy is important for MSMEs to maintain their existence. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the Marketing Mix Strategy used by SFC Dobel Tree after the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to describe the Marketing Mix carried out by SFC Dobel Tree after the Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with interview techniques and direct observation. The results showed that SFC Dobel Tree implemented through segmenting, targeting, and positioning (STP) to target its target market and implemented its marketing strategy by establishing a marketing mix and successfully overcoming challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. The strategy includes product, promotion, people, process and physical evidence.
