Kata Kunci: asupan gizi, kualitas telur, cara penyimpanan telurAbstractOptimal nutritional intake, especially protein intake, both during the Covid-19 pandemic and in normal situations, is important to fulfill. Eggs are a source of protein with prices that are quite affordable compared to other animal protein sources, such as meat and milk. So people prefer eggs as a fulfillment of their daily protein needs compared to meat and milk. During the Covid-19 pandemic, many impromptu egg sellers emerged in the community, as one of the effects of the drop in egg prices on the market. However, these impromptu egg sellers often disregard the quality of the eggs they sell. This will certainly have detrimental and harmful consequences to consumer health. For this reason, socialization to the public about how to differentiate egg quality and how to storing eggs in a good way is important, so that people can choose and get good quality eggs in a longer period of time. The benefit of this socialization is that participants become more careful in choosing the eggs they buy and knowing how to store eggs properly so that the shelf life of the eggs they buy can last longer. Keywords: nutritional intake, eggs quality, eggs storage

Abstract

Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata Program (KKN) on the manufacture of fermented paddy straw for sheep was carried out using a mixed method, namely through webinar media and conducting direct surveys to the field. The place where fermented paddy straws are made at Paddy Farm which is located in Panerusan Village, Tanjung Kemuning Village, Tarogong Kaler District, Garut Regency. As for the webinar, it will be carried out through the media zoom which will be held on August 7, 2021, with a total committee of eight people. Indonesia is one of the countries that has a large area of rice fields, so the availability of paddy straw resources is also abundant. This can be exploited by using paddy straw as an alternative material for sheep feed. However, paddy straw has low palatability and nutrient quality. Fermentation will greatly help to improve the quality and palatability of paddy straw. The procedure for making fermented paddy straw is delivered through webinars and videos uploaded on the Youtube application. Sheep farmers can see the procedure for making fermented paddy straw through the media. Key Words: Fermentation, Paddy straws, Farmers, Sheep.

Abstract

Eid al-Adha celebrations significantly boost sheep sales in Indonesia, which are driven by high demand from Muslim consumers. Direct transactions occur between buyers and sellers at farms or roadside stalls. Consumer preferences are influenced by factors like breed, price, and physical appearance. In ideal conditions, the trader and consumer should have knowledge of identifying sheep breeds and their quality to determine fair prices. Interviews and socialization programs were conducted among 10 traders and 12 consumers in Soekarno Hatta-Buah Batu street, Bandung. Results show that most consumers cannot distinguish between Garut, Priangan, and Local sheep breeds. While traders recognize differences between Garut and Local breeds, they struggle to identify distinctions between Garut and Priangan breeds. Regular socialization programs are necessary to enhance trader and consumer understanding

Abstract

Alleviating the problem of unemployment and poverty is being intensively carried out by the Sumedang Regency Manpower Office, one of the ways this is being done is by encouraging people to run businesses in the livestock sector. One of the places that received assistance in the form of 12 Garut sheep and their supporting needs were the students and administrators of the Nurul Hikmah Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Wado, Sumedang Regency. The hope is that this Islamic boarding school can provide provision for sheep farming business to its students, so that when they graduate from the Islamic boarding school, they can run a sheep breeding and fattening business which can be a good source of income for them. Collaboration between the Sumedang Regency Manpower Service and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Padjadjaran University in the form of mentoring activities is very important to equip aid recipients in running their businesses in the future, because the majority of livestock aid recipients do not have any background in animal husbandry at all. The first stage of the mentoring method is carried out by means of lectures and discussions, to explore the knowledge of the participants. The result of this activity was that 90.5% of the participants who were recipients of sheep livestock assistance had no knowledge or background in farming. This mentoring activity is very necessary to ensure the success of the livestock business assistance program in an effort to alleviate the problem of unemployment and poverty in Sumedang Regency.

Abstract

Reducing stunting rates remains a priority for the Indonesian Government, and this effort needs to be supported by the availability and affordability of food products. One potential animal-based food product that can improve nutritional fulfillment and enhancement for the community is rabbit meat. Its high nutritional content, rapid production rate, and high reproductive capacity make rabbit meat a potential alternative for meeting community nutritional needs. However, this requires community awareness of nutrition and knowledge of rabbit husbandry practices. Additionally, societal stigma surrounding the consumption of rabbit meat needs to be addressed, so that rabbit meat can be positioned alongside other commonly consumed meats like chicken and beef. This community service activity was conducted online with participants from animal husbandry, veterinary, and nutrition science backgrounds. Evaluation data was collected from pre-test and post-test results completed by participants. The benefits of this activity include increased participant awareness of the potential of rabbit livestock as a source of animal protein for the community, as well as its business potential. This activity is essential to conduct periodically with different participant segments to disseminate the information widely.
