Abstract

Escherichia coli yaitu bakteri yang hidup diusus manusia, sebagai flora normal. Akan tetapi bakteri ini juga sering mengkontaminasi dan dapat menyebabkan penyakit pada manusia. Pengolahan pangan yang tidak hygienis dapat menyebabkan berkembangnya bakteri ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi adanya bakteri Coliform pada susu kedelai yang disimpan disuhu kulkas dan suhu ruangan metode MPN (Most Probable Number). penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif analitik dengan populasi susu kedelai yang disimpan disuhu kulkas dan suhu ruangan pada penyimpanan ½, 1, 1 ½, dan 2 hari. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian dengan metode presumptive test, confirmative test dan complete test didapatkan hasil pada penyimpanan disuhu kulkas penyimpanan ½ hari dan 1 hari sampel 1,2,3,4,5 yaitu <3 CFU/mL, penyimpanan 1 ½ hari sampel 1, 2 dan 3 didapatkan 15 CFU/mL, sampel 4 dan 5 yaitu 11 CFU/mL. Penyimpanan 2 hari didapatkan 20 CFU/mL. Sedangkan pada penyimpanan disuhu ruangan ½ hari sebesar <3 CFU/mL, penyimpanan 1 hari pada sampel 1,2 dan 3 yaitu 11 CFU/mL, sampel 4 dan 5 yaitu 7 CFU/mL. Penyimpanan 1 ½ hari didapatkan sampel 1,2 dan 3 yaitu 21 CFU/mL, sampel 4 dan 5 yaitu 20 CFU/mL, penyimpanan 2 hari yaitu 28 CFU/mL. Pada penyimpanan ½ hari dan 1 hari pada penyimpanan disuhu kulkas serta penyimpanan pada suhu ruangan ½ hari dinyatakan tidak ada pengaruh dan layak dikonsumsi serta memenuhi syarat mutu, Sedangkan pada penyimpanan 1 ½ hari dan 2 hari pada suhu kulkas dan 1, 1 ½, dan 2 hari pada suhu ruangan terdapat pengaruh penyimpanan dan tidak memenuhi syarat mutu konsumsi.

Abstract

Fragrant pandanus (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) is the only plant in the Family Pandanaceae that has fragrant leaves. This study aims to find out if pandan leaf extract is fragrant. can be formulated into a stable toothpaste gel preparation and has the cause of dental plaque. The test material used pandan leaf extract is fragrant for concentrations of 2%, 3% and 5%. The results of the evaluation of preparations in the form of organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability test, adhesion test, viscosity and frezee-thaw cycling of each formula did not undergo significant changes from week 0 to week 3 which indicates that the preparation has good stability. The data is obtained with results indicating a significant difference between formula 1, formula 2 and formula 3. It is necessary to make formulations using active substances from the partition of fragrant pandan leaf extract (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.)

Abstract

The rising prevalence of bacterial resistance to carbapenem antibiotics, particularly meropenem, highlights the urgent need for rapid, selective, and efficient detection methods. This study reports the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) based on methyl methacrylate (MMA) as selective recognition elements for electrochemical meropenem sensors. Bulk polymerization was employed using MMA as the functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinker, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as the porogen, and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as the initiator. Both non-imprinted polymers (NIPs) and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared, followed by template extraction through sequential washing with acetonitrile, methanol–acetic acid, and methanol–deionized water to generate specific recognition cavities. Characterization using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) confirmed the success of molecular imprinting, as evidenced by the disappearance of characteristic meropenem bands and the formation of porous cavities in the MIP. Adsorption studies revealed that the MIP exhibited a higher adsorption capacity (8.9940 mg/g) compared to the NIP (3.9904 mg/g), yielding an imprinting factor (IF) of 2.25. Selectivity testing against the competing analyte amoxicillin produced a selectivity coefficient (α) of 1.06, indicating preferential binding toward meropenem despite modest discrimination. These results demonstrate that MMA–EGDMA-based MIPs possess promising potential as selective recognition elements for electrochemical meropenem sensors. The developed material not only contributes to the advancement of functional polymer research but also offers practical opportunities for real-time monitoring of antibiotic levels in clinical and environmental samples.

Abstract

Infections caused by the Hepatitis B virus and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remain major global public health concerns, particularly among pregnant women who are at high risk of transmitting infections to their infants through vertical transmission. Transmission may occur during the intrauterine, intrapartum, or postpartum periods. Screening for Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and HIV is an essential component of integrated antenatal care aimed at preventing mother-to-child transmission. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between HIV and HBsAg examination results among second trimester pregnant women at Tanjung Haloban Community Health Center. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 25 respondents were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were obtained from laboratory examination results and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that 88% of respondents had non-reactive HIV results and 80% had non-reactive HBsAg results. Bivariate analysis indicated a statistically significant relationship between HIV and HBsAg examination results (p = 0.02 < 0.05). In conclusion, although the majority of pregnant women were not infected, there were still reactive cases that may contribute to vertical transmission, and a significant association between the two infections suggests the possibility of co-infection. Therefore, strengthening routine screening, improving health education, and optimizing prevention programs are necessary.

Abstract

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis is known as a highly pathogenic bacterium. These bacteria are aerobic in shape like rods and have resistance to acids. This bacteria can cause tuberculosis (TB). TB disease has been widely recognized as a cause of death which is quite high in the world. Tuberculosis causes the death of nearly one million women each year. Currently, no country in the world is free from tuberculosis. Data shows that Indonesia is the third largest contributor of tuberculosis cases in the world. Examination of mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria which is routinely carried out in hospitals or health centers uses microscopic diagnosis of acid-resistant bacilli (BTA). Recently, a rapid test of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was carried out using the semi-quantitative Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay (RT-PCR) method which targets the rpoB gene in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which can automatically process preparations by extracting doxyribo nucleic acid (DNA) in a cartridge. The time needed for this diagnosis is approximately two hours until the results come out. Purpose: To see the results of the rapid test compared to the microscopic diagnosis at the Puskesmas. Method: Using the cross-sectional method, with a sample of 25 patients at the Lubuk Pakam Health Center. To detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis using the GeneXpert MTB/RIF tool. Furthermore, the data obtained was processed and examined using the Wilcoxon statistical test. Results: The value of the statistical test results using the Wilcoxon test showed that the p-value (Sig) was 0.264, the value was > 0.05, which means that in this study there were no significant differences in results between the microscopic method and RT-PCR. Conclusion: Overall there was no significant difference in the results between microscopy and RT-PCR methods. Keywords: Tuberculosis; Mycobacterium Tuberculosis; RT-PCR Pendahuluan: Mycobacterium tuberculosis dikenal sebagai bakteri yang sangat patogen. Bakteri ini berbentuk aerobik seperti batang dan memiliki ketahanan terhadap asam. Bakteri ini dapat menyebabkan tuberkulosis (TB). Penyakit TBC telah dikenal luas sebagai penyebab kematian yang cukup tinggi di dunia. Tuberkulosis menyebabkan kematian hampir satu juta wanita setiap tahun. Saat ini tidak ada satu negara pun di dunia yang bebas dari tuberkulosis. Data menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia merupakan penyumbang kasus tuberkulosis terbesar ketiga di dunia. Pemeriksaan bakteri mycobacterium tuberculosis yang rutin dilakukan di rumah sakit atau puskesmas menggunakan diagnosis mikroskopis acid-resistant basil (BTA). Baru-baru ini telah dilakukan uji cepat Mycobacterium tuberculosis menggunakan metode semi kuantitatif Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay (RT-PCR) yang menargetkan gen rpoB pada Mycobacterium tuberculosis, yang secara otomatis dapat memproses preparat dengan ekstraksi asam nukleat doxyribo (DNA) pada catridge. Waktu yang dibutuhkan dalam diagnosis ini adalah kurang lebih dua jam sampai hasilnya keluar. Tujuan: Untuk melihat hasil rapid test tersebut dibandingkan dengan diagnosis mikroskopis pada Puskesmas. Metode: Menggunakan metode  cross sectional, dengan sampel yaitu pasien Puskesmas Lubuk Pakam sebanyak 25 orang. Untuk mendeteksi Mycobacterium tuberculosis menggunakan alat GeneXpert MTB/RIF. Selanjutnya data yang didapat di olah dan diperiksa dengan menggunakan uji statistic Wilcoxon. Hasil: Nilai hasil uji statistic menggunakan uji Wilcoxon didapatkan hasil p-value (Sig) adalah 0.264 nilai tersebut > dari 0.05 yang berarti pada penelitian ini hasilnya tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil yang signifikan antara metode mikroskopis dengan RT-PCR. Simpulan: Secara keseluruhan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam hasil antara metode mikroskopis dan RT-PCR.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis B remain major public health concerns, particularly among pregnant women, due to the risk of mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Limited knowledge among pregnant women regarding the importance of HIV and Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) screening may hinder early detection and the prevention of vertical transmission. This Community Service Program aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of second-trimester pregnant women regarding the importance of HIV and HBsAg screening during pregnancy. The activity was conducted on April 18, 2026, at Grandmed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam, involving 25 second-trimester pregnant women. The program employed a one-group pre-test–post-test design through educational lectures, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and educational media. The educational materials covered the definition of HIV and Hepatitis B, modes of transmission, risk factors, the impact of infection on mothers and fetuses, and the importance of HIV and HBsAg screening as part of integrated antenatal care. The evaluation results showed that the participants' mean knowledge score increased from 58.4 in the pre-test to 87.6 in the post-test, representing an improvement of 29.2 points (49.9%). In addition, 96% of participants understood the benefits of HIV and HBsAg screening after participating in the educational program. The activity also increased participants' awareness of utilizing screening services available at healthcare facilities. Therefore, health education serves as an effective promotive strategy to support the prevention of HIV and Hepatitis B transmission while improving maternal and child health.
