Abstract

Sekolah Alam adalah fasilitas pendidikan dengan konsep pengembangan pendidikan karakter secara alami. Keunikan Sekolah Alam dibandingkan dengan sekolah konvensional adalah pada elemen visualspasial, kinestetik, dan naturalis. Sekolah alternatif  berbasis alam memiliki banyak perbedaan dengan sekolah formal. Namun bukan berarti tanpa kurikulum kompetensi. Sekolah alteratif berbasis alam tetaplah bernilai positif sebagai upaya menumbuhkan kemandirian semenjak dini, membuka kesadaran kreatif seluas mungkin serta memberikan pembelajaran soal kerja sama. Kegiatan belajar mengajar di sekolah alam dapat  menumbuhkan kesadaran pada anak bahwa belajar merupakan kegiatan yang menyenangnkan. Belajar di alam terbuka, secara naluriah akan menimbulkan suasana menyenangkan, tanpa tekanan dan jauh dari kebosanan. Dengan begitu akan tumbuh kesadaran pada anak-anak bahwa belajar itu merupakan kegiatan yang mengasyikkan dan sekolah pun menjadi identik dengan kegembiraan. Selain itu, pemahaman siswa terhadap materi pembelajaran bersifat integratif, komprehensif, dan aplikatif.

Abstract

Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) dan Ilmu-ilmu Sosial tidak dapat dipisahkan. Berbeda dengan ilmu sosial yang merupakan ilmu yang mengembangkan teori sesuai dengan objeknya masing-masing, IPS merupakan integrasi dari beberapa cabang ilmu sosial untuk tujuan pendidikan. IPS bertujuan untuk mendidik siswa menjadi warga negara yang baik. Materi IPS di ambil dari beberapa ilmu sosial seperti sosiologi, geografi, ekonomi, antropologi, sejarah dan lain-lain. Ilmu-ilmu sosial merupakan dasar dari IPS. Akan tetapi, tidak semua ilmu-ilmu sosial secara otomatis dapat menjadi bahan atau pokok bahasan dalam IPS. Tingkat usia, jenjang pendidikan, dan perkembangan pengetahuan siswa sangat menentukan materi-materi ilmu-ilmu sosial mana yang tepat menjadi bahan atau pokok bahasan dalam IPS.Kata Kunci: Ilmu sosial, IPS, sumber, materi

Abstract

This research aims to find out: (1) planning for the implementation of the concept of independence in social studies subjects at MTs Negeri 2 Medan. (2) implementation of the concept of independence in social studies subjects at MTs Negeri 2 Medan. (3) evaluation of the implementation of the concept of independence in social sciences subjects at MTs Negeri 2 Medan. This research uses a qualitative approach with naturalistic methods, and the sample collection technique is carried out through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data analysis uses data collection techniques, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity technique uses, (1) Credibility Test, (2) Transferability Test, (3) Dependability Test, (4) Corfirmability Test. The results of this research show: (1) Planning for the implementation of the independent learning concept in social studies subjects at MTs Negeri 2 Medan is going quite well. This is proven by providing outreach and training, creating learning tools, and conducting evaluations on teachers to ensure whether teachers are ready or not to implement the independent curriculum. (2) The implementation of the Independent Learning Concept at MTs Negeri 2 Medan was carried out quite well. Even though not all learning implementations are in accordance with the modules that have been created, this is because the independent curriculum is still very newly implemented at MTs Negeri 2 Medan, but the social studies teachers are quite creative and differentiated in making variations in teaching which makes students active, creative and critical. (3) Evaluation of the concept of independent learning in social studies subjects at MTs Negeri 2 Medan is going quite well as evidenced by data showing student scores above average based on the Learning Goal Achievement Kit (KKTP) at MTs Negeri 2 Medan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pola asuh orang tua tunggal dalam mendidik anak di Kelurahan Ujung Bandar, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh orang tua tunggal terhadap pendidikan anak tergolong cukup baik, namun belum efektif. Hal ini disebabkan oleh rendahnya tingkat pendidikan dan pengetahuan orang tua yang mengakibatkan pendekatan yang digunakan kurang optimal. Orang tua cenderung hanya menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan sekitar tanpa memperhatikan kemajuan pendidikan yang lebih luas. Pola asuh yang diterapkan pun beragam, namun belum membentuk kepribadian anak secara menyeluruh, seperti kecerdasan intelektual dan emosional. Minimnya pengawasan dan perhatian mendalam turut memengaruhi perkembangan anak. Anak-anak menjadi lebih mandiri namun juga cenderung bebas saat tidak diawasi. Selain itu, menjadi single parent membawa tantangan sosial seperti stigma masyarakat, yang dapat memengaruhi kondisi psikologis dan pendekatan pengasuhan. Meskipun demikian, motivasi utama orang tua tunggal menyekolahkan anak adalah harapan agar anak memperoleh masa depan yang lebih baik dan mampu meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga.

Abstract

Students from Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) carried out a Community Service Program (KKN) in Perteguhen Village, Simpang Empat Subdistrict, Karo Regency. This program was held from July 30 to September 1, 2025. For more than a month, the students organized various activities, which were divided into major programs, weekly activities, and daily routines. The main purpose of this KKN program was to give students the opportunity to learn directly from the community while also helping to explore and develop the village’s potential. In this way, students not only gained theoretical knowledge at the university but also practical experience by engaging with the daily lives of the villagers. The implementation began with a field survey to better understand the condition of the village, followed by planning programs that matched the needs of the community. All activities were carried out with the support of the village head and local residents, creating a sense of closeness and togetherness. Some of the major programs included helping the community with activities that supported the improvement of the local economy, exploring local potential, and organizing social and religious programs to foster peace and harmony. In addition, students also worked with elementary school children by providing tutoring sessions and Qur’an lessons, giving them extra support both in academics and religious education. Through this KKN program, it is hoped that the people of Perteguhen Village can directly benefit in the areas of education, social life, and the economy. For the students, this experience served as a valuable opportunity to broaden their knowledge, build empathy, and strengthen their sense of responsibility. The presence of UINSU students in Perteguhen Village is expected to leave a positive impact by creating a more peaceful, united, and prosperous community.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between environmental cleanliness and the water scarcity crisis in Jandi Meriah Village, as well as evaluate the roles of the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in addressing these issues. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research combines in-depth interviews and focus group discussions to gain comprehensive insights into the community's views on environmental cleanliness and the availability of clean water. The research method involves conducting interviews with 10-15 purposively selected respondents, including the village head, farmers, and housewives. These interviews are guided by semi-structured questions to identify key patterns and themes related to environmental cleanliness and water scarcity. Additionally, focus group discussions will be held with 2-3 groups, each consisting of 8-12 participants, to gather collective perspectives on the challenges and potential solutions. The findings reveal a significant interconnection between environmental cleanliness and the water scarcity crisis in Jandi Meriah Village. Ineffective waste management and poor sanitation contribute to water source contamination, while the lack of access to clean water exacerbates environmental cleanliness and public health issues. Major identified challenges include inadequate infrastructure, limited resources, and low community awareness. The roles of the government and NGOs in providing infrastructure and education are crucial but face challenges in coordination and implementation. The study concludes that there is a need for improved waste management infrastructure and clean water distribution, as well as enhanced community education on hygiene and water management. Better collaboration between the government and NGOs is essential for effectively addressing these issues. Regular evaluation and monitoring are also recommended to ensure the success of the implemented solutions.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out by the Real Work Lecture (KKN) team of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) with the aim of developing ecoprint products as an environmentally friendly innovation as well as a means of empowering creative MSMEs in the environment of SD 040479 Perteguhen, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency. This program was motivated by the low level of public awareness of the importance of sustainable natural resource management and the limited skills in utilizing the potential of the environment to create products with economic value. This activity is also expected to provide an educational experience for elementary school students in learning about environmentally friendly concepts and creative entrepreneurship from an early age. The activity was held on August 9, 2025, involving participants from among students, teachers, and the community around the school. The implementation method included four stages, namely (1) socialization and environmental education on the basic principles of ecoprint, (2) technical training in ecoprint making, (3) hands-on practice using natural materials, and (4) evaluation and reflection on the results of the work. The technique used was the method of soaking tote bags in hot water at a temperature of 80–90°C using natural materials such as teak leaves, guava leaves, cassava leaves, and hibiscus flowers available around the school. The results of the activity showed that the hot water soaking technique produced soft natural motifs, harmonious color gradations, and leaf patterns

Abstract

This community service program aims to introduce ecoprint as an alternative environmentally friendly fashion product and encourage the development of alternative economy-based MSMEs at SD Negeri 040479 Perteguhen. The program was carried out in several stages, namely socialization of the concepts of sustainable fashion and alternative economy, training in ecoprint techniques using natural materials such as teak leaves, cassava leaves, and bougainvillea flowers, as well as assistance in production and product development. Participants in the activity consisted of teachers, parents, and members of the community around the school who were interested in the development of creative MSMEs. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’ understanding of the impact of the fashion industry on the environment and the importance of using environmentally friendly materials. Participants also demonstrated improved skills in ecoprint product manufacturing, from fabric preparation and motif arrangement to color fixation. The resulting products, such as cloth bags, scarves, and tablecloths, are aesthetically pleasing, unique, and have the potential to be sold as valuable local products. In addition, this activity encouraged participants’ creativity in creating a variety of motifs and colors, as well as building awareness of the importance of sustainable innovation. From a socio-economic perspective, this activity opens up opportunities for the development of local MSMEs through the sustainable use of natural resources and the application of alternative economic principles. The formation of a creative community involving schools and the community demonstrates synergy in the development of environmentally-oriented businesses. This activity is expected to become a model for the development of creative MSMEs based on eco-friendly and local resources, while supporting the principles of sustainable development and responsible consumption and production.
