Abstract

This study explains about how hata poda/ advices and umpasa/ parables or hopes as part of local wisdom that mostly found in Batak Toba traditional ceremonies work to building the characters of receivers by the presence of Ulos. Hata poda and umpasa are not hastily given and it should concern about the social position of the giver (Ulos) based on Dalihan na Tolu. Dalihan na Tolu is a philosophy of life hold by Batak Toba society consisting of Hula-hula (the highest), dongan sabutuha, and boru (the lowest). Hata poda and umpasa assumed as an instrument/ media of communication containing of advices and hopes/prayers delivered by the highest rank (parents or elders) to their descendant. This study uses textual analytical description to answer all problems which may emerge. The terms of hata poda and umpasa found in Batak Toba traditional ceremonies possess positive values to generating the characters and behaviors of the receivers which mostly dominated by youngsters. Forms of Batak Toba traditional ceremonies are the wedding, birth ceremony, death ceremony, baptism and others.

Abstract

This research probes the effectiveness of literature used in improving speaking skills for EFL learners. The specific literature that applied for this learning is graphic literature. As part of literature, graphic literature has become one of the resources that provide aesthetic, creativity, intellectuality, and imaginative experience of writers for learners. This research used the quantitative method that focuses on data analysis through online class observation and surveys. The objectives of this research are to exhibit the ways of literature implied to teach speaking for EFL learners, to delineate the potency of graphic literature to escalate speaking skills for EFL learners, and to perceive students' discernments of studying literature through graphic literature in advancing speaking competence for EFL learners. Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang pengaruh pelatihan kerja dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja pelaku industri kreatifdi industri kuliner di Jakarta Timur, ingin mengetahui betapa pengaruhnya pelatihan kerja dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja pelakuindustry untuk meningkatkan usaha merka terutama di industri kuliner. Pada penelitian ini, melakukan survei terhadap 104 respondenyang merupakan karyawan kinerja pelaku indsutri kuliner di dearah Jakarta timur. Menunjukkan bahwa berpengaruh positif pelatihan kerja dengan nilai uji t sebesar 2,027 dan motivasi kerja dengan nilai uji t sebesar 6,259. Dengan demikian, penelitianmelihat bahwa pelatihan kerja dan motivasi kerja di industry kreatif sangat berpengaruh dengan kinerja pelaku industri kuliner. Abstract

This study aims to describe ecological issues based on the Ecocritical study of Greg Garrard in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie by Andre Adamson. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are dialogue, pictures, and texts in the movie that cover ecological issues. The data sources in this study were The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie by Andrew Adamson. The data is collected through the process of watching, enlisting, and screenshotting. The data is analyzed by identifying, classifying, and interpreting. The results of this study illustrate that in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie there are ecological problems that occur due to human activities. Ecological problems were found in the movie are the relationship between human and nature, the animals become wild and extinct, destruction of nature. First, the relationship between human and nature shows that the characters of the female in the movie had associated with nature. Secondly, animals become wild and extinct because humans ignore the rights of animals. Such as destroying habitats and exploitation toward animals. Thirdly, the destruction of housing/shelter because of the human construction of houses for their own interests without thinking about other living things which is they take the land of Narnia.

Abstract

Tourism in East Nusa Tenggara's Southwest Sumba Regency has many natural and cultural attractions, but promotion hasn’t been optimized. This study proposes the use of web-based information media to introduce and promote tourism in Southwest Sumba Regency and support the expansion of regional capacity. The objective of this study is to develop a website-based tourism information system that provides information on destinations, attractions, supporting facilities, and travel routes and can aid travelers in locating their desired destination. The implications of the research are demonstrated by the features of the system that can adapt to user requirement, and the development of information systems can assist travelers and local governments in promoting the tourism potential and regional culture of Southwest Sumba. The contribution of the research is intended to be a medium of information for tourist attractions and the cultural potential of the Southwest Sumba region, facilitating tourists' ability to locate information about tourist attractions and introducing the potential of other tourist attractions. The cultural and tourism potential information system has seven outstanding system features that can help manage tourism potential data, and the system testing results show that all system features have been implemented and are valid.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: untuk mengoptimalkan sosialisasi akan pentingnya literasi untuk mengurangi penyebaran berita bohong bagi masyarakat Kendari Sulawesi Tenggara yang tidak memiliki pengetahuan sebagai strategi pemanfaatan media sosial yang bijak. Penyuluhan dilakukan secara online, merupakan kerjasama antara program studi Manajemen Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Halu Oleo dengan Kendari English Center berkerja sama dengan The La Malonda Institute yang diikuti oleh lebih dari 20 orang. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penghentian penyebaran hoaks di media sosial harus dimulai dari diri sendiri. Anggota komunitas ini adalah kaum muda milenial Kendari yang merupakan agen pembentuk masyarakat digital yang sehat dan bebas dari hoaks. Kesimpulan. Di masa pandemi, di mana semua orang berada di dalam ketakutan, kehadiran berita bohong atau hoaks menjadi sebuah keniscayaan. Menyikapi hal ini, upaya untuk meredam penyebaran berita bohong atau hoaks dimulai dari diri sendiri. Untuk itu, diperlukan “benteng pertahanan” yang mumpuni yakni dari pengetahuan, meningkatkan minat baca dan menyebarkan berita hanya dari Lembaga atau instansi yang dapat dipercaya.

Abstract

This research aims to show the archetypes that occur in the Speak Graphic Novel. The purpose of this research is to analyze the archetypes of the main characters in the oral graphic novel by Laurie Halse. This research applies Carl Gustaf Jung's archetype theory. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out through four steps: reading, recording, analyzing data, and identifying data. The results of this research show that the Speak Graphic Novel shows the existence of two personas, five animus, one shadow, and one self archetype, before reaching the self archetype Melinda experiences an individualization process, in this graphic novel individualization appears when Melinda neutralizes this. things that cause him to use a persona and have to face the shadow that appears by providing real resistance to Andy who has been pressuring and threatening him. Another thing that helped the individualization process was Melinda's decision to accept the fact that she had made a mistake and forgive herself. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that in this novel the archetype is shown in full, starting from the details of the cause of the archetype's emergence to the start of the individualization process as a form of Melinda's effort to control or eliminate the cause of the archetype's emergence, which in the end causes the main character to achieve a self-archetype.

Abstract

Comics became one of the literary works that implemented communication practices that involved linguistics. This study examined the cognitive pragmatics in the Japanese comic, Your Lie in April, by Naoki Urusawa. This study was centered on cognitive pragmatics, encompassing elements of cooperation, mental states, intentionality, and motivation. This research employed the descriptive qualitative technique. Through the examination, the researcher found that the comic exhibits cognitive pragmatic elements in the characters of Arima and Kaori. These elements include cooperation, mental states, intentionality, and motivation. The researcher has discovered 21 cognitive pragmatic aspects comprising cooperation (5 data), mental states (6 data), intentionality (5 data), and motivation (5 data). The comic primarily focuses on mental states as the most significant cognitive pragmatic feature over other aspects. In conclusion, Arima and Kaori convey these qualities through their discussions and facial expressions.
