Abstract

Abstract This research raises the problem of students' problem solving abilities in solving arithmetic sequence and series problems based on the theory of APOS (Action, Process, Object, Schema) in terms of the type of Florence littauer personality. Data collection was obtained from personality type questionnaires, problem solving tests, and interviews. The subject of the study came from 4 students of class XI TKJ 1 of SMK Negeri 2 jember using the snowball sampling method to classify 4 personality types which include sanguinis, koleris, melancholy, and phlegmatic. The results of the analysis of problem solving ability tests and interviews showed that at the stage of action, sanguinis (SS) students could explain smoothly and complete the lack of data on the answer sheet. Koleris students (SK), explained fluently and consistently, melancholy students (SM) could explain correctly even though in answering questions they were still hesitant. Phlegmatic students (SP) are fluent and assertive when explaining the information in the question again. At the process stage, students of SS, SK, SM, and SK managed to find a number pattern and could determine the formula to solve the problem. At the object stage, the four subjects managed to answer correctly even though they used different problem solving processes. At the scheme stage, SS students, SK, SP managed to give the final answer correctly and tried to check the answer again, while the SM students had not managed to answer correctly. Abstract

  Abstract. There are many students who have difficulty in solving math problems. The difficulties caused students mistake in solving problems. The of student’s mistakes consist of the use of computation errors, errors due to a lack of basic knowledge, reduction errors, and another errors. Therefore, the aplication of cooperative learning model with Mind Mapping technic is important to overcome the student’s mistakes in solving the Fraction problems at seven grade SMP Negeri 14 Jember odd semester academic year 2013/2014. This research type is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The data analysed in this research are student’s activity, student’s mistakes, and effectiveness. The research show that student’s activity attain 66,48% in the first cycle and 71,62% in second cycle, student’s mistakes attain 50,72% in the first cycle and 34,28% in second cycle, and effectiveness attain 33,64% in the first and 60,67% in the second . It can be concluded that the application of cooperative learning model with Mind Mapping technic is effective to overcome student’s mistakes in solving Fraction. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the process and the result of the study in terms of fractions with RME approach for seventh grade students. This research is research development using modified Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel Model. The device developed is learning the lesson plans, student books, student worksheets, and test questions. The subjects were 38 students of class VII D SMP Negeri 14 Jember. The results showed that the learning has been completed criterian effect, is characterized by the fact haigty learned the value of validity. The device also completed practical learning criterian, the fact is characterized by teachers' activities. The device has also been profen effective learning of a percent highty student activity, student achievement master criteria greater than or equal to 80% classical and 75% of students gave positive reactions to this learning. Abstract

Abstract. The research aims is to know the process and the result of development lesson plan and student worksheets based on CORE (connecting organizing reflecting extending) learning model with technique of mind mapping for curved space topic at ninth grade of junior high school. Learning instruments development model refers to 4D Thiagarajan models which has 4 steps namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research has two products namely lesson plan and student worksheets. Based on validation process and tryout, the result shows that the coefficient of validity reachs 0,60, the percentages of teacher’s activities and students’ responses are above 80%, and the percentage of students’ activitie is above 10% - 20%, it can be concluded that the lesson plan and student worksheet had fullfiled the validity, practice, and effective criteria. Abstract

This research aims to describe the profile of the students’ ability in solving mathematics problem in terms of personality according to David Keirsey which includes guardians, artisan, idealists, and rationales. The research subject is four students who are obtained from one student of each personality type in SMKN 2 Jember. MBTI questionnaire, problem-solving test, and interview are used as the data collection method. The analysis of problem-solving test and interview shows that in the stage of understanding and planning the settlement all students are able to fulfill this stage. In the stage of carrying out the plan, SG, SA, and SI students bring about the plan that is made before, while SR student tend to do it based on their remembering skill and it is not appropriated with the existing formula. In the stage of re-checking, only SA and SI students always recheck the steps of processing along with the obtained result. However, SG and SR students do not recheck their work. Besides, SA and SI students have more than one alternative solutions. Keywords: Polya Phases, Personlaity, MBTI

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research is to describe the writing mathematical communication skills of mild mental retardation students at Jember State SMALB-C solved the problem of addition and subtraction of algebra using algebra paper learning media. The subject used are two students of class x mild mental retardation. Data collection are observation, test and interviews. Observation was carried out during the delivery of the addition and subtraction material of algebra and introducing learning media and giving practice questions. The question of test is algebra addition and subtraction as much as three reserved description and interview to each subject. The result of this research shows that subject has fulfilled of the indicators of NCTM's mathematical communication skills except sub indicator c in question number 2, because the student did not explain the algebra paper learning media attached to the answer sheet and do not write conclusions. In interview, the subject stated that using algebra paper learning media can help and simplify the problem of completing the addition and subtraction of algebra. Abstract

Abstract. Generally, mathematics learning in the school still concentrates on the teachers, so that the students become passive in the learning process. Besides that, the students also never get a problem which is done as a group work. This matter cause the students become passive and only listen about the teacher’s explanation. That matter also makes the students become bored, get difficulties in studying Mathematics and give impact on the student’s bad result. Because of that, a resolution is needed to make a better learning process by applying the elaboration learning method on parallelogram and rhombus chapter to increase the study result of the students of VIIB class in SMP Negeri 1 Jatibantengacademic year 2012/2013. Elaboration method is started from presentation of epitome or a framework of that contains and the last is giving the conclusion which has a function to combine some concepts. Based on the result of the research, the application of elaboration learning method is effective to increase the study result of the students in parallelogram and rhombus chapter. We can see it from the student’s study result, that is from 55% to 87.5%. Key Words:Elaboration model, students’ activity, student learning achievement

Abstract

The purposeof this study is todetermine the problem solving ability of SMK IbuPakusari’s multimedia studentson the subject oflinear program. Data collection methodusedis the method oftesting, interviews, anddocumentation. From the researchit can be concludedthat the percentage of students in problem solving ability is high, medium, low on stage to understand the problem is75%, 12,5%, 12,5%. For the percentage of students on stage the completion ofthe plan is 40,63%, 18,75% ,40,62%. On stage implementthe plan is 46,87%, 18,75%, 34,38%. As for the re-examine is 37,5%, 34,38%, 28,12%. Abstract

Abstract.The goal of this research aims to know the process and the result of developmental Realistic Mathematics Educatioan Instruments by think pair share setting for square and rectangle topics at seven grade junior high school. Learning instrument development model refers to four D models. The products of this research are lesson plan, student book, worksheet, and evaluation test. The products refer to the characteristic of Realistic Mathematics Education and phases of Think Pair Share. Based on the validation process try out of learning instruments, it can be concluded that the learning instrumets have satisfied of the validity, practice, and effective criteria. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to: improve the independence of students in learning mathematics through Cooperative Learning methods and make a match strategy using authentic assessment. This type of research is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) collaborative. The subjects are students in grade VIII SMPN I Gumukmas  School Year 2011/2012, amounting to 33 students as subjects who received the action. Implementation of the action is the subject of research. Subjects who supported the implementation of the math are teachers and principals. Data collection methods are used the method of observation, test methods, reviews and documentation methods. Data analysis technique is implemented in a descriptive qualitative. It is found on the average the students activity improve 66,7% at siklus I become 78,8% at siklus II, and the teacher activity improve 4,66%. The classical thoroughness improve 33,34%. So the conclusion of this research is the application of the make a match approach can improve theostudent achievmentoinklearningomathematics.
