Abstract

The degradation of student character in today's era of globalization poses a significant challenge for the education sector. Students are not only expected to be academically competent but also to possess strong character, responsibility, independence, and positive social behavior. In this context, transformational leadership is seen as an effective strategic approach to foster a school culture that supports character education. One such program used as a tool for character development is the “7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children Movement,” which contextualizes universal values into Indonesian cultural and religious frameworks. This study aims to explore the implementation of transformational leadership in supporting the 7 Habits program at SMP Negeri 1 Bojongsoang. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the school principal, teachers, and students. The research focuses on the forms of transformational leadership implementation, its impact on the program, and the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its execution. The findings reveal that the school principal’s transformational leadership was effective in fostering a positive shift in school culture. Through exemplary behavior, inspirational motivation, teacher empowerment, and systematic supervision, the principal successfully facilitated the internalization of positive habits in students’ daily lives.

Abstract

Changes in the management of educational organizations have become an urgent necessity in response to the increasing complexity of 21st-century challenges, technological advancements, and demands for educational quality. Many schools still implement static and bureaucratic management systems characterized by hierarchical structures, one-way communication, and minimal participation from school stakeholders. Such systems have proven ineffective in responding quickly and efficiently to change. This study aims to examine the transition of school management systems from a static approach to an adaptive and collaborative management model, as well as to analyze the role of school principals as agents of change in this process. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method at a Vocational High School (SMK) in West Java Province. The findings indicate that the transition to an adaptive and collaborative management system is achieved through transformational leadership by the principal, which encourages open communication, stakeholder involvement in decision-making, and the development of a collaborative culture. Organizational restructuring toward more flexible models and the use of information technology have also accelerated the adaptation process. Nonetheless, challenges persist in the form of resistance to change, limited resources, and administrative barriers. The study concludes that adaptation- and collaboration-based management can enhance school management effectiveness and strengthen stakeholder participation in building a responsive and innovative organizational culture.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of Human Relations–based business communication in sustaining long-term cooperation with investors at PT Pan Pacific Nesia, a garment manufacturing company within a Korean business group. Operating in a dynamic, labor-intensive environment, the company faces challenges in maintaining accurate information flow and transparent reporting to its primary investor. The research aims to explain how Human Relations functions as a communication technique and relationship management strategy that supports trust-building, collaboration, and investor confidence. Human Relations theory, Relationship Management Theory, and Integrative Negotiation are used to interpret the interpersonal and relational dynamics within the communication process. A qualitative case study design within a constructivist paradigm was employed. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis, with purposive sampling involving Human Relations personnel, Payroll and Accounting staff, Operations representatives, and investor delegates. The findings indicate that PT Pan Pacific Nesia implements integrated Human Relations communication practices, including routine coordination forums, transparent digital reporting, and open dialogue communication. These practices foster trust, commitment, and relationship satisfaction. The use of an integrative negotiation approach further supports mutually beneficial, long term agreements. The study concludes that strategic Human Relations communication supported by relational management and integrative negotiation principles plays a vital role in maintaining transparency, strengthening collaboration, and sustaining long term business partnerships in the garment industry.

Abstract

This study explores the role of principals’ leadership in enhancing the professional competence of teachers in special education (Sekolah Luar Biasa/SLB) in Indonesia. Teacher competence in special education is a critical factor in ensuring the quality of learning for students with disabilities. At the same time, school principals hold a central position in creating supportive environments for teachers' professional growth. Despite the theoretical consensus regarding the importance of instructional and transformational leadership, a significant gap remains in understanding how these leadership practices are operationalized in resource-constrained special education contexts. To address this issue, the research employed a qualitative multiple-case study design at SLB A YPKR Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, and SLB BC Al Barkah, Garut Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model with source and methodological triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that effective leadership in SLB is not confined to a single model but rather a dynamic integration of participative, instructional, transformational, and distributed approaches. Principals demonstrated adaptability by combining planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation functions with collaborative and reflective practices. Limited financial and infrastructural resources were addressed through creative strategies, internal capacity building, and partnerships with external stakeholders. Importantly, principals’ leadership fostered teacher motivation, ownership, and commitment, resulting in sustainable professional development. In conclusion, the study emphasizes that visionary and adaptive school leadership is essential for enhancing teacher competence in special education. The implications extend to leadership preparation programs and educational policy, underscoring the need for context-sensitive, holistic leadership models to improve the quality of education for children with special needs.
