Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) hasil dari proses pengembangan multimedia simulatif kimia berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada materi analisis kualitatif kation golongan I; (2) kelayakan multimedia simulatif kimia berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada materi analisis kualitatif kation golongan I; (3) efektivitas penggunaan multimedia simulatif kimia berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada materi analisis kualitatif kation golongan I. Penelitian pengembangan multimediamenggunakan prosedur R&D menurut Borg & Gall yang telah dimodifikasi menjadi 9 tahapan yaitu: 1) penelitian dan pengumpulan informasi; (2) perencanaan; (3) pengembangan draf produk; (4) uji coba lapangan awal; (5) revisi hasil uji coba; (6) uji coba lapangan; (7) revisi produk hasil uji lapangan; (8) uji pelaksanaan lapangan dan (9) revisi produk akhir. Analisis data yang digunakan selama pengembangan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) pengembangan multimedia simulatif kimia berbasis inkuiri terbimbing telah dilaksanakan melalui prosedur R&D dan telah direvisi berdasarkan saran dan masukan dari validator dan praktisi serta telah diujicobakan kepada siswa pada uji coba skala kecil, menengah dan luas; (2) kelayakan produk dikategorikan sangat baik dan sangat layak digunakan dengan persentase penilaian 86% dari validator dan 87% berdasarkan penilaian praktisi; (3) produk yang dikembangkan efektif untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar aspek kognitif dan afektif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) hasil dari setiap langkah pengembangan modul kimia berbasis masalah atau problem based learning (PBL) menggunakan model Borg dan Gall yang dimodifikasi, (2) kelayakan modul kimia problem based learning, (3) efektivitas modul kimia problem based learning dalam pembelajaran kimia materi Konsep Mol. Penelitian ini menggunakan prosedur penelitian dan pengembangan atau research and development model Borg dan Gall yang dimodifikasi. Uji lapangan awal dilakukan di SMAN 1 Kota Madiun dan SMAN 3 Kota Madiun. Uji lapangan utama dilakukan di SMAN 1 Kota Madiun dan SMAN 2 Kota Madiun. Uji lapangan operasional dilakukan di 10 sekolah pelaksana Kurikulum 2013Tahun Pelajaran 2013/2014, yaitu: (1) SMAN 1 Kota Madiun, (2) SMAN 2 Kota Madiun, (3) SMAN 3 Kota Madiun, (4) SMAN 1 Caruban Kabupaten Madiun, (5) SMAN 2 Caruban Kabupaten Madiun, (6) SMAN 1Geger Kabupaten Madiun, (7) SMAN 1 Kabupaten Ngawi, (8) SMAN 2 Kabupaten Ngawi, (9) SMAN 1 Kabupaten Magetan, dan (10) SMAN 1 Maospati Kabupaten Magetan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, angket dan tes. Kelayakan modul kimia problem based learning disimpulkan dari hasil angket penilaian kelayakan modul pada uji lapangan awal, utama dan operasional. Efektivitas modul disimpulkan dari hasil uji t perbedaan rata-rata hasil belajar pengetahuan, keterampilan dan sikap di kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen pada uji lapangan utama. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa: (1) hasil setiap langkah pengembangan modul kimia berbasis masalah adalah modul kimia yang telah direvisi berdasarkan saran dan masukan dari konsultan ahli modul, validator modul dan telah diujicobakan kepada calon  pengguna  modul,  (2)  modul  kimia  problem  based  learning  layak  digunakan  dalam  proses pembelajaran, 3) modul kimia problem based learning efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar pengetahuan, keterampilan dan sikap.

Abstract

Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) is one ofimplementing element of Sebelas Maret University which has the task ofcoordinating, monitoring, and assessing the implementation of researchactivities and community service organized by the Centers in Institute forResearch and Community Service. One of the missions of LPPM UNS is toimprove the ability and the role of lecturers and students in research andempowerment of the community. One of the problems, can not be handled inthe community is waste problem. Currently, public awareness to do wastesegregation has not been done maximally, so it needs to do stimulus to raisethe awareness. The results of the survey have been done in LPPM and Facultyof Agriculture UNS. The phenomenon of waste disposal is found to be lazy todispose of garbage (35%), unavailable garbage (41%), waste bins (15%) anduninspiring waste (9% ). Further activities are training to students to designthe trash in accordance with the Japanese model that is by making trashesbased on the type of paper waste, plastic waste, garbage cans and wetgarbage.

Abstract

Critical Thinking Skills (CTSs) are necessary for science mastery. To help the students develop their CTSs, discovery-based learning and student-centered activities may be beneficial. This study aims at investigating: (1) effects of discovery-based multiple representation learning (DMRL) model on CTSs; (2) effects of different academic achievement on CTSs; and (3) interaction between a learning model and types of different academic achievement on CTSs. The participants were 162 students, grade 7th from 3 public schools in Sleman, Indonesia. They were classified into 54 students with exceptional academic achievement, 48 students with average academic achievement, and 60 students with below-average intellectual ability. We used an essay test to collect data on CTSs utilizing a non-equivalent control group design with pretest and posttest. ANCOVA was used to examine the data (p = .05). The results of the study show that: (1) The DMRL had a high potential to improve the students’ CTSs; (2) The students with HA had the highest CTSs; (3) there is an interaction effect between the learning model and the different types of achievement on CTS. As a result, we conclude that the DMRL was effective in closing the CTSs discrepancies between students with high, moderate, and poor academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of students of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Tiga Dihaji, SMA Negeri 1 Buay Sandang Aji, and SMA Negeri 2 Muaradua. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. This research was carried out in class X Mathematics and Natural Sciences (N=124) students by working on the Essay test instrument for critical thinking skills on Environmental Socio-Scientific Issues (ESSI)-based biology material. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were still very lacking, namely in the interpretation aspect 44.95% with very poor criteria, analysis aspect 40.12% with very poor criteria, 49.79% evaluation with very poor criteria, and 40.72% inference aspect with very poor criteria.

Abstract

In the midst of the accelerating pace of change in the modern world, critical and creative thinking skills are important for every individual, especially students.  Educators must understand their role in helping students develop critical and creative thinking skills. This study aims to apply the Experiential based Environmental Socio Scientific Issues learning (EBESSIL) model and test its effect on improving students' critical and creative thinking skills. The type of research was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 70 students taken from SMA Negeri 1 Tiga Dihaji and SMA Negeri 1 Buay Sandang Aji class X South Sumatra. Data collection of students' critical and creative thinking skills using test instruments. The instrument was tested for construct validity using LISREL with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Data analysis technique using MANOVA test. The results showed that the average value of students' critical and creative thinking skills in the experimental group was higher. The results of the MANOVA analysis showed that the learning model used had a significant effect on students' critical and creative thinking skills and was effective with a high category. The effect size value obtained d = 1.66 with a high category at a probability of excellence of 80%. Thus learning using the EBESSIL model is more effective and has a high influence on the ability of critical and creative thinking skills. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of the EBESSIL learning model is more effective in improving students' critical and creative thinking skills. Researchers recommend that the EBESSIL learning model can be applied in high schools to help schools improve students' critical and creative thinking skills.
