Abstract

Muhammadiyah, founded in 1912, is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, playing a significant role in the modernization of Islam and social empowerment. The organization focuses on preaching based on the Qur'an and Hadith, along with various social initiatives in education, healthcare, and welfare. Muhammadiyah has established educational institutions ranging from primary schools to universities and manages hospitals, clinics, and health centers to serve the community. Additionally, it operates orphanages, homes for the elderly, and rehabilitation centers. As an Islamic reform movement, Muhammadiyah integrates religious values with social aspects of life to empower communities and elevate the nation's dignity. This study explores Muhammadiyah's contributions to the modernization of Islam and social empowerment in Indonesia, as well as its role in supporting positive change and community development.

Abstract

This community service activity focused on reducing plastic waste problems in Tuban Regency. Plastic waste has long been a concern because its volume keeps increasing and is rarely reused for economic purposes. Through this program, local residents were encouraged to learn how to turn plastic waste into useful and marketable items. The activity involved practical training, direct mentoring, and the formation of small community-based business groups. Islamic values such as trust, responsibility, and cleanliness were introduced throughout the process. After several sessions, residents showed positive changes in environmental awareness and entrepreneurial skills. The program not only helped to lessen plastic waste but also opened new economic opportunities for the community. It is expected that this initiative can become an example of community empowerment based on local potential in Tuban Regency.
