Abstract

The differential item functioning (DIF) of an item that initially assumed unidimensional is frequently attributed to the assumption of multidimensionality. Therefore, it is important to test the assumption that multidimensionality causes an item to be functionally different between the disadvantaged group (i.e. focal group) and the benefited group (i.e. reference group) on the Aptitude Potential Test for New Student Selection in State Islamic University (AP SPMB-PTAIN). This study aims to: (a) explore and confirm the internal structure of AP SPMB-PTAIN; (b) identify items containing DIF based on the types of school the candidates attended (Madrasah Aliyah/MA, that is, secondary education managed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, or regular high school/SMA); and (c) evaluate the multidimensionality effects on DIF. The data analyses (n = 10,000) showed that: (1) the internal structure of AP SPMB-PTAIN is semi-complex multidimensional; (2) 15 items contain DIF UIRT (12 items benefited high school graduates while three items benefited MA graduates); five items contain DIF MRT that benefited high school graduates; and (3) the multidimensionality difference between the focal and reference group did not appear to correspond to DIF.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning outcome of mathematics and sciences in the Indonesian National Examination from 2015 to 2018 of MTs (Islamic secondary school). The results of the analysis are used as the basis for making alternative policy as a possible way to improve the quality of mathematics and science learning. With the sample size of 360, 371 MTs students in East Java, the achievement was measured by using 40 multiple choice questions with each having four answer options. Split-plot and latent profile analysis of the data show that there was a consistent decrease in the achievement of mathematics and sciences of the moderate group of MTs from 2015 to 2018 with a dramatic drop in mathematics and tendency to drop for science. The fundamental implication of these findings is that there is a need for learning innovations to improve mathematics and science learning outcomes for 21st century learning. The findings can also provide data support for decision making for the revision of the mathematics and science curriculum and can be further used as empirical evidence for the developed countries in finding ways to improve the quality of mathematics and science learning outcomes for 21st century learning, in particular, to assist the developing countries such as Indonesia.

Abstract

When a unidimensionality assumption has been actually violated, interpretation of test scores might be jeopardized. It couldn’t be overemphasized in case of high-stake exams such as PAPs UGM (academic potentiality test for UGM graduate student candidates) which was supposed to reflect a composite ability. This study aimed at revealing item characteristics of PAPs A-1 Series based on UIRT and MIRT and discovering dimensionality of the three subtests of the test. Scores of subject (n=2035) on the 3 subtests were analysed and the results showed that 27 items (10 of Verbal, 8 of Kuantitatif, and 9 of Penalaran) were flagged for having rbis of less than 0.25 and 6 other items for having abnormally high pseudo-guessing parameters. Dimensionality analyses found out that Penalaran subtest was local-dependent while Verbal and Kuantitatif subtests both were local-independent. In addition, MIRT analyses failed to fully describe item characteristics of the test due to effect of interaction among probabilities of correct response of the three subtests. Abstract

The opportunity to learn (OTL) is one of the important aspects of achieving the goal of the learning process. There have been three dimensions of OTL: instructional time (IT), content covered during instruction (CC), and quality of instruction (QI) mentioned in the literature and used as a framework in this article. This study aims to reveal the gap in math ability between madrasah and non-madrasah students in Indonesia and the contribution of the three OTL aspects toward math scores. This study employed a cross-sectional survey approach with self-report instruments. The data were obtained from a survey of participants in the New Students National Selection for Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (Islamic High-school managed by the ministry of religious affairs) in 2021. There were 8,258 participants, consisting of 4,842 students from madrasah and 3,416 from non-madrasah. This study used multilevel structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze the data. The findings show that (a) there is a gap in math ability score between madrasah and non-madrasah students which is -27, with a mean math ability score of madrasah students being lower than non- madrasah students, and (b) the time invested in learning significantly affects the occurrence of gaps in math ability scores, while the scope of the materials and the quality of learning do not affect the occurrence of the gap in math ability scores. These findings suggest that it is important for the Ministry of Religious Affairs to consider the addition of mathematical lesson duration in madrasah while restructuring the allocation for Islamic lessons.

Abstract

Artikel ini menjelaskan lima model konsepsi teoretis mengenai keterikatan kerja: job characteristic model (JCM), personal engagement model (PEM), work-life model (WLM), job demands-resources (JD-R), dan organizational engagement model (OEM). Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah mengajukan definisi yang lebih padat tentang keterikatan kerja melalui sintesa terhadap lima model ini untuk mendapatkan perspektif yang komprehensif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dinamika keterikatan kerja dipandang dari sisi anteseden (pendorong), kondisi psikologis, dan dampak (konsekuen). Kami mengajukan definisi konseptual keterikatan kerja sebagai "dorongan, niat, dan evaluasi yang positif pada pekerjaan untuk menghasilkan kondisi mental yang sehat." Tipikal keterikatan seseorang terhadap pekerjaannya dapat dimengerti secara lebih lengkap dengan mempertimbangkan dimensi dan lingkup keterikatan kerja sebagai konstruk yang multidimensi. Keterikatan psikologis terdiri atas dimensi: kognitif, emosi, fisik, perilaku, dan sosial. Konteks dan lingkup keterikatan dapat terjadi pada level tugas, pekerjaan, tim, unit, organisasi, dan/atau pembelajaran (peningkatan diri). Diantara lima model yang disintesakan, tulisan ini berkontribusi pada kelugasan definisi keterikatan kerja dan perhatian pada dimensi sosial, serta tambahan lingkup pembelajaran (peningkatan diri).

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine the development of an online counseling service website. The research method uses a quantitative survey. Subjects in this study amounted to 511 people. Where 317 subjects are UIN Malang and 194 subjects are outside UIN Malang. The initial activity in this research is to conduct counseling and then a google form will be given which contains a questionnaire on the satisfaction of using the website which also contains suggestions for the website. As for the results of filling out the questionnaire, subjects from outside UIN Malang are more open and assertive. The results of this study indicate that there is no difference in average between UIN Malang and outside UIN Malang with a significance value of 0.976 ( 0.05).Keywords: Service Development, Online Counseling, WebsiteAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengembangan website layanan konseling online. Metode penelitian menggunakan kuantitatif survey. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 511 orang. Dimana 317 subjek ialah UIN Malang dan 194 subjek ialah luar UIN Malang. Abstract

Zuhud adalah menghilangkan kecintaan terhadap sesuatu yang bersifat duniawi yang dapat melalaikan manusia untuk mengingat Allah. Dengan sifat dunia yang bersifat candu tersebut, dapat membuat manusia lupa akan mengingat Allah dan mengutamakan sesuatu yang bersifat duniawi, dalam bentuknya juga dapat dilihat dari perkembangan zaman yang terus berubah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pandangan zuhud dalam masa sekarang dalam Al-Qur’an melalui tafsir Al-Nûr. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif, dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan,  dan untuk metode analisis data menggunakan deskriptif-analitik. Hasil penelitian yang terkandung dalam tulisan ini menurut Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy zuhud tidak hanya diartikan sebagai hal yang menjauh dari hal duniawi, akan tetapi menjadikan hal bersifat duniawi tersebut sebagai jalan menuju ketaatan kepada Allah. Adapun aplikasi zuhud diera modern menurut Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy dimana seseorang memiliki sifat kesederhanaan, kesabaran, wara’, dan keseimbangan hidup dalam hidupnya.

Abstract

Human Resources (HR) are a dominant factor in every institution, including in the field of education. Education requires excellent HR to fulfill its role in meeting the educational needs of society. Therefore, to generally improve the quality of human resources effectively, learning in schools is essential. The role of school leadership must have the ability to optimize all available resources in the school to realize the vision and mission established to achieve the predetermined goals. In addition to the role of school leadership, teacher performance also plays a crucial role in improving the quality of education. The number of competent early childhood education (PAUD) educators is still insufficient, and many principals and teachers have not yet undergone training. This issue needs to be addressed promptly, considering the important role of educators in the education system in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative approach. It aims to measure the significant influence of the role of school leadership and teacher performance on the quality of education in PAUD throughout the Sukmajaya District of Depok City. The results of hypothesis testing and multiple linear regression show that the role of school leadership and teacher performance have a positive and significant impact on the quality of education in PAUD throughout the Sukmajaya District of Depok City. The adjusted R-squared value (Adj R2) is 0.961, indicating that the contribution of the independent variables, namely the role of school leadership and teacher performance, to the dependent variable, which is the quality of education, is 96.1%, while the remaining 3.9% is influenced by other variables not examined or included in this regression study.

Abstract

Abstract: Parents in Purwoasri village have a tendency to choose Islamic boarding schools as a continuation of their children's schools because they are considered capable of producing a generation with a religious character. At Islamic boarding schools, students will study various branches of knowledge through the Yellow Book, the process of understanding which requires learning the science of Nahwu. This research-based community service uses the Empowerment-Based Research Approach which aims to increase children's understanding of nahwu science at the Bustanul Ulum mosque, Sambileren Hamlet, Purwoasri Village, Gumukmas District through the application of the Al-Miftah lil Ulum method. The success of accompanying activities in the learning process of nahwu science through the Al-Miftah lil Ulum method includes increasing students' understanding of the basic concepts of nahwu science, increasing the ability to apply Arabic grammar rules in forming sentences, as well as increasing skills in analyzing and parsing Arabic sentence structures. The use of this method provides an interactive and interesting learning atmosphere for students, thereby motivating them to learn. The follow-up that can be taken is by expanding the use of the Al-Miftah lil Ulum method in learning nahwu science at various levels of education and integrating it into the formal curriculum. Furthermore, further service activities can be carried out in the form of training for teachers so that they can implement the Al-Miftah lil Ulum method effectively in learning. Di Pesantren, para santri akan mempelajari berbagai cabang ilmu melalui kitab kuning yang proses pemahamannya memerlukan pembelajaran ilmu nahwu. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat berbasis riset ini menggunakan Pendekatan Empowerment-Based Research (Pemberdayaan Berbasis Riset) yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman ilmu nahwu anak-anak di masjid Bustanul Ulum Dusun Sambileren Desa Purwoasri Kecamatan Gumukmas melalui penerapan metode Al-Miftah lil Ulum. Keberhasilan kegiatan pendampingan proses pembelajaran ilmu nahwu melalui metode Al-Miftah lil Ulum meliputi peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep-konsep dasar ilmu nahwu, peningkatan kemampuan menerapkan aturan-aturan tata bahasa Arab dalam pembentukan kalimat, serta peningkatan keterampilan dalam menganalisis dan mengurai struktur kalimat Arab. Penggunaan metode ini memberikan suasana pembelajaran yang interaktif dan menarik bagi siswa, sehingga memotivasi mereka untuk belajar. Tindak lanjut yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan memperluas penggunaan metode Al-Miftah lil Ulum dalam pembelajaran ilmu nahwu di berbagai tingkatan pendidikan dan mengintegrasikannya ke dalam kurikulum formal. Selanjtnya dapat dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian lanjutan berupa pelatihan untuk guru-guru agar dapat mengimplementasikan metode Al-Miftah lil Ulum secara efektif dalam pembelajaran. Abstract

This research aims to elucidate the importance of ethics in the use of technology among students in Islamic schools (madrasah), particularly within the context of religious scholarship. Madrasah students are expected to serve as examples for society by emphasizing noble conduct (akhlakul karimah) in their digital technology usage, such as acting as a counterbalance to the dissemination of false information (hoaxes), rather than becoming part of the problem. The research methodology employed is qualitative, utilizing a literature review approach, wherein the researcher collects and analyzes various relevant sources of reference. The research findings indicate that madrasah students are not only required to be proficient in using technology but also accountable for their usage. They are expected to set an example for society in applying ethical values in digital technology.
