Abstract

The isolation of endophytic fungi (penicillium sp) from binahong stem had been undertaken with the objective to determine its content of secondary metabolites and its antibacterial activity. The content of secondary metabolites was analyzed with HPLC and its antibacterial activity was measured using paper disc diffusion method. The results showed that there were four compounds in the HPLC chromatogram detected at 235 nm. The antibacterial activity for methanol and ethyl acetate extracts were observed for its diameter of zone inhibition at 18.2 mm and 16.7 mm for S.aureus and 17.8 mm and 16.3 mm for E. Coli.

Abstract

A study of the essential oil content in basil (Ocimum sanctum) and red lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) originally grown in Flores island has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to identify the chemotype of the essential oils obtained over stahl distillation using GC-MS. The Ocimum mainly consisted of 55% eugenol following by minor trans-alfa-bergometena, patchulana, and linalool. Meanwhile, the chemotype of the red lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus L. rendle) were citronellol (22%), citronella, cyclohexamethanol, and viridiflorol.

Abstract

Research has been conducted with the title "Literature Study of Secondary Metabolites and Bioactivity of Plants Genus Dipterocarpus". The method used is a descriptive method with the aim of being to find out the active compounds in the genus plant dipterocarpus and to know the ability of the bioactivity of genus plants dipterocarpus. Based on the results of the study, bioactivity of secondary metabolites from planst of the genus dipterocarpus namely antidiabetic, antiplasmodial, antibacterial, antioxidant, anticlasses, cytotoxic, anticholinesterase, antiproliferation, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. Very strong biosaltivity indicated by the ethyl acetate faction plant D. Intricatus Sagai Antioxidant IC50 Nialial is 0.075 μg / mL. While very weak bioacchables are shown extract methanol stem plant D. Costatus as cytotoxic with ic50 value 973 ± 14.57 μg / mL.

Abstract

Used lubricants contain contaminants from oxidation and thermal degradation, resulting in a decrease in the quality and performance of the lubricant. Therefore, the adsorption process is carried out using kesambi stem charcoal and natural zeolite Ende activated H3PO4 to remove contaminants and improve the quality of used lubricants. Determination of the density and kinematic viscosity of used lubricants mass variations of 0.5, 0.66, 1 and 2 grams for each adsorbent. The results obtained show that the value of the used lubricant density from the adsorption results is relatively the same, namely 0.83 g/cm3, while the kinematic viscosity is different for each variation of the mass and type of adsorbent. Kesambi stem active charcoal has an optimum mass of 0.66 grams with a kinematic viscosity value of 128.84 cSt, active natural zeolite at a mass of 0.5 grams of 113.59 cSt and continued use of active natural zeolite-active natural charcoal, namely at a mass of 2 grams of 106, 38 cSt. These results indicate that the variation in the mass of the adsorbent has no effect on the change in density value but shows a significant change in the increase in the value of the kinematic viscosity of the used lubricant from the adsorption. The best percentage of kinematic viscosity increase efficiency is using activated charocoal, which is 71.83%.

Abstract

Biodiesel is a concern for many parties because it is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and renewable. One of the problems faced in the use of biodiesel as an alternative energy is the process of purification from impurities and by-products such as glycerin which is complicated and expensive. Glycerin can cause saponification, increase ignition delay, incomplete combustion, blockage and increase engine maintenance costs. In this study, deep eutectic solvents (DES) synthesized from choline chloride (ChCl) salts and tannic acid were used as extractants for the extraction of glycerin from biodiesel synthesized through palm oil transesterification with methanol as a trans substituent and KOH as a catalyst. The effect of the composition of the constituent moles of DES and the ratio of biodiesel-DES mass to glycerin content of biodiesel has been studied. The results showed that the higher the content of ChCl salt in DES and the greater the ratio of biodiesel-DES, the lower the glycerin content in biodiesel, with the highest decrease of 65.7693% (glycerin content after extraction of 2.0193%) obtained from the composition of the mole DES 1:47 (Tannic acid:ChCl) and the mass ratio of biodiesel-DES 1:3. The biodiesel produced has not met SNI 1782, which is 0.02%.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on Reducing COD and TSS Levels of Slaughterhouse Liquid Waste Using the Electrolysis Method. This study aims to analyze the effect of electrolysis time and voltage (voltage) on the reduction of COD and TSS levels of RPH waste water using the electrolysis method. Electrolysis is the decomposition of electrolytes by direct electric current using two kinds of electrodes as conductors of electric current. The results showed that the longer the electrolysis time and the greater the voltage, the percentage of reduction in COD and TSS levels increased. The percentage reduction obtained was 31.43% COD and 95% TSS at 120 minutes of electrolysis time and 12 volts of voltage.

Abstract

A study of kojic acid production in the endophytic fungi Aspergillus flavus was conducted to identify the effect of kojic acid on efforts to prevent decay and manage the quality of shelf life of tomato fruit (Lycopersicum esculentum L.). The kojic acid obtained showed good results in preventing tomato fruit spoilage. The organoleptic test results on the texture and aroma of tomato rot stated the highest favorability in the test treatment with kojic acid, namely in the treatment of tomato fruit stored by spraying 1% kojic acid. The ability of kojic acid to extend the shelf life of tomato fruit is seen from its antibacterial activity and is able to suppress the rate of respiration and transpiration in tomato fruit.

Abstract

Minyak biji kemiri merupakan salah satu minyak nabati yang dihasilkan dari biji kemiri melalui proses ekstraksi soxhlet. Minyak biji kemiri dapat disintesis menjadi FAME karena mengandung komposisi asam lemak yang tinggi dengan catatan dilalukan proses penetralan sebelum disintesis menjadi FAME. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui rendemen minyak biji kemiri dengan menggunakan metode ekstraksi soxhlet, mengetahui % rendemen FAME hasil sintesis melalui proses transesterifikasi setelah penetralan minyak dan uji sifat antibakteri FAME dari minyak biji kemiri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Hasil penelitian memperoleh rendemen minyak sebesar 80,2%, rendemen FAME sebesar 68,4% dan sifat antibakteri FAME minyak biji kenari yang diuji menunjukan daya hambat terbesar terdapat pada bakteri S. aureus dengan diameter hambat sebesar 14,3 mm pada konsentrasi 20% sedangkan daya hambat FAME terhadap bakteri E. coli dengan diameter hambat sebesar 13,1 mm pada konsentrasi 20%.

Abstract

ABSTRAK ANALISIS KOMPONEN KIMIA DAN AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN LIMBAH AIR PENYULINGAN MINYAK CENDANA Sutra Sukur, Dodi Darmakusuma*, Antonius R. B. Ola** Telah dilakukan penelitian dengan judul “Analisis Komponen Kimia Dan Aktivitas Antioksidan Limbah Air Penyulingan Minyak Cendana”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komponen kimia yang terkandung dalam limbah air penyulingan minyak cendana (Santalum album L.). Penelitian ini juga bertujuan unuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan yang terdapat pada limbah air penyulingan minyak cendana (Santalum album L.). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan mulai dari persiapan sampel, penyulingan, pengeringan dan ekstraksi. Kemudian dianalisis aktivitas antioksidan dan komponen kimia menggunakan metode analisis DPPH dan HPLC. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masih terkandung komponen kimia dalam limbah air penyulingan minyak cendana dengan presentase sebesar 24,48%, 11,89% dan 9,51%. Selanjutnya aktivitas antioksidan pada limbah air penyulingan minyak cendana termasuk dalam kategori sangat lemah dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 244,19 ppm.

Abstract

Tumbuhan Kelor (Moringa oleifera Lamk) banyak tumbuh di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) yang beriklim Lahan Kering. Daun Kelor banyak digunakan masyarakat NTT sebagai bahan makanan. Daun kelor mempunyai kandungan gizi yang tersebar mulai dari buah, sampai akarnya. Selain itu kelor mempunyai manfaat lain seperti koagulan, vitamin dan sebagai obat. Penelitian ini mempelajari efek toksik ekstrak air daun kelor terhadap larva udang Artemia Salina Leach dengan menggunakan metode BST. Metode ini sebagai pengujian awal dari efek anti bakteri dan anti kanker, penggunakan air (suhu kamar) sebagai pelarut agar dapat diaplikasikan secara langsung oleh masyarakat. Daun kelor dimaserasi selama 3 x 24 jam menggunakan air, hasil uji fitokimia teridentifikasi kandungan metabolic sekunder antara lain, Alkaloid, Flavonoid, Triterpen, dan Tanin. Hasil uji BSLT menunjukan bahwa ekstrak air (suhu kamar) daun kelor mempunyai tingkat toksisitas terhaap Artemia Salina Leach yang ditunjukan dengan nilai LC50 888, 34 kurang dari 1000 ppm. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa daun kelor mempunyai potensi sebagai tanaman yang nantinya dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai anti bakteri dan anti kanker.
