Abstract

The fisheries sector supports food security, one of which is through black tilapia cultivation which has many advantages. The study was conducted at the P2MKP Fish Boster Center to assess the effect of using a combination of commercial and independent feed on the growth of black tilapia, to find an alternative feed that is efficient, economical and supports optimal growth. The study was conducted at the P2MKP Fish Boster Center, Sidoarjo, using survey and internship methods. Activities include pond preparation, seed distribution, provision of a combination of commercial and independent feed, and monitoring the growth and health of black tilapia. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation and analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The water quality in the black tilapia pond was monitored well with a temperature of 28oC - 33oC, pH 8 and DO 4.3 - 4.62 ppm. Growth showed optimal results: SGR 1.29, absolute weight 198.75 grams, absolute length growth 20 cm, Survival Rate 85% and FCR 1.1. Commercial feed is used at the beginning of maintenance, then will be replaced with independent feed for cost efficiency. Research at P2MKP Fish Boster Center shows that a combination of commercial and independent feeds increases the growth of black tilapia better than single use. This combination can also optimize resources, reduce dependence on commercial feeds, and be an alternative for farmers in increasing the productivity of black tilapia cultivation.

Abstract

Mangrove crabs are one of the important fisheries commodities in Indonesia which have made a significant contribution to the lives of coastal communities. This study aims to analyze differences in growth performance of mud crabs reared in different silvofishery ponds to find out the effect of gender and to determine the interaction patterns between silvofishery pond type and gender. This research method uses a Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) which consists of two factors, namely pond type (core pond, trench pond) and sex (male, female) so that it has 6 treatment combinations and 3 replications for each treatment. The initial weight of the test mud crab was 70-75 g. Test animals were kept for 56 days in crab baskets. The results showed that the interaction between pond type and sex had a significant influence on daily growth rate and absolute weight growth but did not significantly influence the feed conversion ratio and feed utilization efficiency. Duncan's further tests showed that the type of pond had a real influence on the feed conversion ratio and feed utilization efficiency. The best Feed Conversion Ratio was found in the core pond treatment with 3.80 1.05 with the highest feed utilization efficiency of 27.67 3.23 %.The survival rate shows values that are not significantly different between all treatments (86.67 100%.). The water quality measurement values during the research were still optimal for the growth of male and female mud crabs. Treatment of core ponds with female crabs (T2K2) showed the best performance in terms of daily growth rate and absolute weight growth of mud crabs. Core pond treatment with female crabs showed the highest daily growth results of 0.82% 0.01% and absolute growth of 42.00 1.00.Keywords:Mud crabSilvofisheryCore PondDitch PondGenderGrowth

Abstract

Intensive aquaculture systems that are not managed properly often cause problems that disrupt the balance of the environment so that shrimp are susceptible to disease. One of the aquaculture innovations that have been developed to minimize disease impact is shrimp farming with low salinity. This study aims to determine the performance of intensive Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp culture with low salinity. This study used quantitative descriptive analysis with a purposive sampling technique in three ponds for three maintenance cycles. The result of the study on three cycles of vannamei shrimp culture with low salinity overall found that productivity ranged from 2.35 to 3.69 kg/m2. ADG values in aquaculture ponds ranged from 0.26 0.36 g/day. The survival rate ranged from 61% to 98%, and the feed conversion ratio ranged from 1.01 to 1.62. The survival rate tends to increase, and FCR value tends to decrease in 3 cycles of cultivation. Water quality including temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, phosphate, ammonia, and TOM indicate the optimal range based on water quality standards for intensive vannamei shrimp culture (SNI 01-7246-2006). At the same time, nitrite and alkalinity exceed the SNI standard but this nitrite and alkalinity level could still be tolerated by vannamei shrimp during the rearing period. Overall, water quality during the rearing period can still support the growth of vannamei shrimp. The above result showed that vannamei shrimp culture at low salinity (6-8 mg L-1) has the potential to be developed. Keywords:Intensive culture Litopenaeus vannamei Low salinityProductivity
