Abstract

Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program is a national policy designed to improve the nutritional quality of children and support human resource development. However, its implementation at the regional level still faces various institutional and coordination issues. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals program in Jambi City, focusing on the dynamics of program implementation and the inhibiting factors. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with policy implementers and  documentation with informants determined through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using Merilee S. Grindlee policy implementation theory through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the MBG program in Jambi City has not been running optimally. This condition is characterized by the strong dominance of the central government in the decision making process, weak coordination between actors at the regional level, and inadequate readiness of supporting institutions, especially in aspects of human resources, monitoring system, and clarity of operational standards for implementation.

Abstract

Abstract

Political participation is a key indicator of local democratic quality. However, participation levels are shaped not only by structural factors but also by the configuration of social and psychological determinants underlying voting behavior. This study examines the configuration of social and psychological factors in political participation in Bangko District during the 2024 Merangin local election. A qualitative case study approach was employed. Informants were obtained using snowball sampling, including voters, community leaders, local election organizers, and campaign teams. Data were collected through in‑depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that participation is shaped by three key social factors family influence, neighborhood networks, and proximity to local political actors and three psychological factors political trust, perceived vote efficacy, and pragmatic motivation. The interaction of these dimensions produces a rational‑communal participation pattern, in which voting decisions are influenced by both benefit considerations and social pressure. These findings highlight that local political participation emerges from the interplay between social structure and individual psychological orientation. The study contributes to the literature on voting behavior in Indonesian local politics.

Abstract

This study analyzes Jumadi's campaign strategy and victory in the 2024 Kerinci Regency Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Legislative Election. This study explains, how Jumadi as a newcomer to politics with a background as a young entrepreneur, was able to achieve victory despite having no prior political experience. This study uses a qualitative approach with primary and secondary data obtained through interviews and documentation. The results indicate that Jumadi's victory was influenced by the implementation of an effective political marketing strategy based on Niffenegger's 4P framework: product, promotion, price, and place. The product aspect emphasized his image as a responsive and community-oriented leader with a focus on human resource development in the agricultural sector. The promotion aspect was carried out through direct outreach to the community, the use of social media, and the installation of billboards and posters. The price aspect reflected a positive reputation and personal credibility, while the place aspect related to voter mapping and mobilization of the support base through the Golkar Party's political machinery. These findings suggest that personal closeness, public trust, and the right political marketing strategy can be determining factors in the victory of new legislative candidates at the local level.
