Abstract

The spread of pneumonia cases among under-fives in East Java Province dominates the main rank in Indonesia with the incidence rate increasing every year. In 2020-2022, there were 685, 764, 774 cases of pneumonia in toddlers in the Waru Health Center working area. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the condition of the physical environment of the house and parental habits with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers in the Waru Health Center working area in 2024. This type of analytic observational study used a case-control design. The results of the Chi-Square statistical test obtained (p-value<0.05) mean that the physical environment of the house and parental habits are associated with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers, namely ventilation (p-value=0.001), temperature (p-value=0.020), lighting (p-value=0.012), humidity (p-value=0.003), occupancy density (p-value=0.022), the habit of opening windows (p-value=0.003) and smoking habits (p-value=0.0036). Researchers suggest that the community pay more attention to the condition of the home environment and support healthy behavior by getting used to opening windows in the morning, not smoking and maintaining a clean house.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools represent a significant site for the educational process of students from diverse backgrounds. The condition of the pesantren does not meet the requisite hygiene standards, posing a significant health risk. Scabies is a dermatological condition that is frequently associated with poor standards of personal hygiene and a lack of access to clean and healthy living conditions. The prevalence of scabies among students at boarding school X is likely to be high, due to a lack of understanding of the importance of personal hygiene and sanitation. The environment exerts a profound influence on public health, particularly in the context of boarding schools. Therefore, it is imperative to consider and enhance the environment. This community service activity aims to provide students with an understanding of how to implement boarding school sanitation through clean and healthy living. Mentoring activities for the students are carried out with lectures related to boarding school sanitation and PHBS, discussions, and demonstrations of antiseptic soap making. The outcomes of the activity are antiseptic soap with coconut and palm oil as ingredients, increased knowledge of personal hygiene among students, PHBS leaflets, and publication in the National Journal.

Abstract

Islamic education, with its predominantly Arabic literature, presents a challenge for educators to effectively guide their students in understanding Islam through its primary literature. Curriculum development, learning models, strategies, time allocation, and educators’ abilities are among the agendas that demand innovation and enhanced abilities. At SD Unggulan Assunniyyah Kencong Jember, there is an innovation in Kitab Kuning learning that aims to improve students’ understanding of Islam. We implement this program for students who have completed the final exam of the Qur’an by grouping the Tahfidz class and the Kitab Kuning class. This study employs a qualitative approach of a descriptive nature. Field observation is used to collect data. This study found that implementing a learning model that stimulates students’ understanding can reduce the time it takes to learn the Kitab Kuning. The learning models used are the probing-prompting learning model and the expository learning model, which emphasizes active interaction and practical understanding. We also teach students how to read the Kitab Kuning in the context of Indonesian and pesantren traditions, including the reading of nadzom. The results of this study demonstrate learning innovations that accelerate students’ understanding of Arabic grammar, allowing them to master the Kitab Kuning more efficiently.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem that remains high in Indonesia, especially in rural areas like Bondowoso. Poor basic sanitation and bad implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior are often associated with stunting in children under five. This study aims to analyze the relationship between basic sanitation factors and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior as a determinant of stunting in the working area of Sempol Community Health Center in 2024. This research used a case-control study methodology in conjunction with observational analytics. The samples were houses with stunting and non-stunting toddlers in the working area of Sempol Community Health Center. The samples are 24 for each group, using a systematic random sampling technique from a population of 925 toddlers. Data analysis using the Chi-square test with 0.05 degree of error. The result of this research showed that there are differences in basic sanitation facilities of houses and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior in stunting and non-stunting toddlers in the working area of Sempol Community Health Center in 2024. Basic sanitation and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior factors are important factors in efforts to prevent stunting. Improving access to sanitation and promoting the Clean and Healthy Living Behavior program must be a priority in the Public Health Intervention Program in Bondowoso.

Abstract

Poor waste management can lead to environmental pollution. Waste banks, based on the 3R principles (reduce, reuse, recycle), are an effort to manage waste sustainably while enhancing community income. However, the effectiveness of waste bank operations is often hampered by low community participation, suboptimal operational mechanisms, and inconsistent application of standard operating procedures (SOPs). This study aimed to evaluate the management of waste banks in Mojo Urban Village, Gubeng District, Surabaya City. A cross-sectional observational method with descriptive analysis was employed. Variables assessed included waste generation, waste sources, operational mechanisms, and SOP components across seven waste banks. Data collection involved interviews and observations. Results showed the dominant waste types were plastic (1317.3 kg, average 219.55 kg), paper (1195.7 kg, average 199.28 kg), metal (217 kg, average 36.17 kg), and glass (81 kg, average 13.5 kg), with an overall average of 1.12 kg/day per neighborhood unit (RW). Waste originated entirely from residential areas. Operational mechanisms were rated 100% compliant, while SOP implementation reached 84.3%, categorized as good. It is recommended that waste bank managers conduct monthly community education sessions on waste separation and improve the implementation of two SOP components: waste collection and waste condition requirements. Strengthening these areas can further enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of waste bank management.

Abstract

Research aims: The objective of this research is to test and empirically prove what factors have the most influence on the performance of Islamic banking so that they can take appropriate action policies to increase the competitiveness and value of the company in the market.Design/Methodology/Approach: Quantitative methodology with secondary data from 102 data samples is used. The data is panel data and processed with views. Hypothesis testing is used to determine the effect of intellectual capital, corporate governance, maqashid sharia index (MSI), and enterprise risk management (ERM) on financial performance. Mediation tests to determine financial performance mediate intellectual capital, corporate governance, MSI, and corporate risk management on Islamic banking value.Research findings: Financial performance has not been able to mediate the relationship between intellectual capital, corporate governance, MSI, and ERM in relation to the value of Islamic banking.Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study extends previous research on factors that can increase the value of Islamic banking in Indonesia by using ERM, which has not been widely studied in Indonesia.Practitioner/Policy implication: This study provides important insights into which areas need to be improved or further evaluated to enhance future corporate performance and the value of Islamic banking.Research limitations/Implications: There is a possibility that important variables that can affect the results, such as external economic or political factors, are not controlled in this study. It is hoped that further research will use a wider sample and a longer observation period so that research findings can generalize the results of research on financial performance and company value.
