Abstract

Abstract. The learning strategy is one of cause influenced the student’s learning completion. It means that to reach high teaching quality, all studies, especially math, should be organized with the right organizing strategy, then explained to the students with the right strategy. One of the learning strategy which make the students learning desire grow by activating all student’s potential in visual, auditory, or kinesthetic were think talk write learning strategy with authentic assessment. The type of this research was classroom action research. The research aimed to find out the student’s activity, student’s learning completeness, and student’s respond to think talk write learning strategy. While the objects were students of X-1 Grade SMAN (Junior High School) 1 Tanggul Jember Residence with 40 students amount. The results of applied research after think talk write learning strategy with authentic assessment the average student in the first cycle with 82 reaching 92,5% completeness, where there are 37 students who completed and 3 students did not complete. Then proceed to the second round, second round results on the average value of 84,75 students to reach 100% completeness. Based on the success criteria for this study that at least 75% of the entire class of students there is scored 75-100 or completeness reach 75% -100%. Therefore, it is associated with learning the completeness criteria, the results of this study meets these criteria. It can be concluded that the application of think talk write learning strategy with authentic assessment can improve student learning outcomes in math study in SMAN (Junior High School) 1 Tanggul Jember. Abstract

Based on the PISA results, the average Indonesian mathematical literacy score is 375. The average score is still below the average international math literacy score of 500. The purpose of this research is to describe students’ mathematics literacy ability based on mathematical ability in resolving the problem of PISA change and relationship content. Change and Relationship content is closely related to function and algebra. Determination of the level of student literacy skills seen from the fulfillment of level 1 indicators to level 6. The subject of this research were 33 students of X MIPA 7 grouped based on mathematical ability students with low, moderate and high. The results showed that maximal low-ability math students reached level 2. For students with moderate mathematical abilities the maximum was able to reach level 4 and maximal high-ability math students reached level 4. Abstract

Abstract. This research purpose to analyze students error problem solving math story on the subject SPLDV in class X APH 2 SMKN 5 Jember, using Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA). The analyze will be related to the kinesthetic learning style. The research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was done by tests, questionnaires and interviews. Based on the result of this research, kinesthetic students tend to make error on comprehension, transformation, process skill and encoding. Each students has their own unique way in solving the problem at every stage Newman. However, in general, students with kinesthetic learning style tend to solve problems with trial and error strategies and often misconceive because they do not understand what they mean when imagined. Abstract

Ethnomatics are cultural practices related to mathematical activities such as grouping, counting, calculating, designing buildings or tools, determining locations. This research was conducted at the Soponyono Dome Company, Wirolegi, Jember. The purpose of this study is to describe ethnomatematics in the manufacture of stainless steel mosque domes and produce student worksheets. This research is a type of qualitative research with ethnographic approach. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research are the owner of the company and four dome craftsmen. Geometry concepts or elements found include: congruent, flat shapes (rectangle, irregular hexagon, circle segment, trapezoid), space structures (cylinder, truncated ball, cone, and truncated cone), geometrical transformations (dilatation), and mathematical activity (measuring activity, counting activity, and design activity). The results of the study were made as worksheet material for Grade IX students with the subject of constructing curved side spaces of tube and cone material. Keywords: Ethnomatematics, Mosque Dome, Student Worksheet.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the stages of creative thinking of students with choleric personality types in solving Algebra problems. This type of research is qualitative research. Students with choleric personality types are given Algebra questions followed by interviews to explore information in students' creative thinking processes. The results obtained are students capable to form a mathematical model of the information contained in the problem using the Algebra symbol at the preparation stage. Students are capable to find more than one settlement idea by utilizing the equations formed in the problem and require a short time to understand the problem at the incubation stage. Students are capable to write the completion steps containing Algebra operations systematically at the illumination stage. Students are capable to recheck the answers generated by substitute the value of the variable sought into an equation well at the illumination stage. The conclusion of this study is that choleric students are capable to fulfill all the indicators at the Wallas creative thinking stage. This can be seen from the results of the Algebra test given and the results of the interviews that have been conducted.

Abstract

Abstract. In mathematics learning, the scoring method used was still dominated by one scoring method which only measure the students’ factual knowledge. Thus, the scoring method should be integrated in the teaching learning process, not merely on the result of learning it self. This research was conducted to improve the grade VIII-I student’s learning achievement and their active participation through the implication of Team Games Tournament (TGT) method of cooperative learning type with authentic assessment on the surface area of the prism and pyramid at SMPN 1 Jember in the 2012/2013 academic year. The research design was Classroom Action Research (CAR), and the data collecting method used was observation, test, interview, and documentation. From the actions implemented in each cycle, it was proved that the students’ score improved from 74,68% in Cycle 1, to 80,76% in Cycle 2. Thus, the average percentage of the second cycle was 76,32% and it fulfilled the research criteria, it showed that the implication of TGT can improve the students’ learning achievment and their active participation. Key Words : TGT, authentic assessment, surface area of the prism and pyramid
