Abstract

This study aims to understand the behavior and ethics of Generation Z (Gen Z) in Desa Dasan Geres, Labuhan Haji District, East Lombok, in using social media from the perspective of Islamic communication. Using a mixed-method approach and a case study design, the research examines how Islamic values are applied in Gen Z’s digital interactions. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, focusing on Gen Z individuals who are active social media users, particularly Facebook. The findings reveal that most respondents are aware of the importance of maintaining ethics on social media, with 89.7% of their communication displaying positive sentiments, while 10.3% show negative sentiments, often related to emotional or provocative topics. However, some respondents prioritize creating engaging content over considering its moral impact. Social pressure is identified as a key factor influencing their behavior, while the application of Islamic values in their digital interactions remains suboptimal. This study highlights the need for continuous education and guidance on social media ethics based on the principles of Islamic communication. The role of families, educators, and communities is crucial in helping Gen Z become wiser, more responsible, and ethical in their digital activities. Such efforts are expected to foster a healthier digital environment and promote positive interactions that contribute to improved social relationships.

Abstract

The water level data is closely related to the water discharge data in the Pesongoran Kuripan channel in West Nusa Tenggara Province. Daily data is needed by farmers to maintain the quantity of water and the quality of agricultural products. Altitude data is taken daily by irrigation workers, but the data is often available in an incomplete state. This paper aims to correct incomplete data on water level data in irrigation canals using the Cubic Spline Interpolation algorithm. This is due to the nature of the data that depends on the climate (seasonal). Therefore, Cubic Spline can be a solution to incomplete data. The first step, create a set of coordinate points from the primary data. The second step is to create a tridiagonal matrix consisting of a lower triangle matrix, a diagonal matrix and an upper diagonal matrix. The third step is the constant search using Gauss-Jordan elimination. The effectiveness of the Cubic Spline method can be seen from the error of the comparison between the set of coordinate points and the coordinate points of the interpolated results. The smaller the error, the more appropriate the expected result . The results of the study prove the effectiveness of Cubic Spline in missing data.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has revolutionized online and social media analysis, making it an indispensable tool for educational institutions such as Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Mataram to comprehend public perception and trending topics. By applying the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) approach to identify trending topics and the Lexicon-based method to analyze sentiment toward these topics, this research addresses the challenge of identifying key issues and public sentiment. Research data was collected from various news platforms and social media such as Twitter or X, Instagram, and Facebook, using the Google News API and Selenium for web scraping. The collected data was then processed to generate findings relevant to this research. The results of the LDA show that the most frequently discussed topics are related to the achievement of superior accreditation by UIN Mataram, student achievements, and academic activities. Meanwhile, using the lexicon-based method, the sentiment analysis results found that most topics related to UIN Mataram received dominant positive sentiment. Several topics showed positive sentiments, reaching almost 100%, such as topics 2 and 10, which were related to achieving accreditation. Meanwhile, several other issues were dominated by neutral sentiment, indicating that discussions on the topic tended to be informative without triggering significant emotions. Overall, the UIN Mataram institution was viewed positively in the news and media discussions analyzed.

Abstract

The Decision Support System (DSS) is a computer-based information system that generates various alternative decisions to assist in addressing structured and unstructured problems. At STMIK Syaikh Zainuddin NW Anjani, the selection of study programs is still done manually, where prospective students are directly asked to choose which study program they wish to enter without any data processing based on their abilities and skills first. This approach can have negative consequences, as once they begin their studies in the chosen program, they may struggle to keep up due to misalignment with their skills, interests, and abilities, leading many to regret their choice and even decide to switch programs or transfer to another university; some may even attend less frequently. Therefore, there is a need for a system/application that can provide recommendations for study programs that align with their talents, interests, and capabilities. The Decision Support System for Selecting Study Programs for New Students at STMIK Syaikh Zainuddin NW Anjani uses the Profile Matching Method and the Prototype Method for software development, which begins with requirements gathering, prototype design, prototype evaluation, system coding, system testing, system evaluation, and system implementation. This decision support system calculates the exam scores taken by new students and successfully provides suitable recommendations based on their exam results. This application can also directly print the results of the calculations and recommendations for study programs for new students; they can also directly print the results of their tests.
