Abstract

Several studies in Indonesia have utilized learning media to educate students. Nevertheless, no research looks at the effect of education through learning media on high school students about balanced nutrition using Powtoon, which is website-based. The research design used was a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 West Aceh Regency. Seventy-three respondents who met the inclusion criteria were selected. The results obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Respondent's knowledge of balanced nutrition before being given education through Powtoon website-based learning media has a median value of 9 (5-12), and after the intervention, the median value rises to 13 (8 - 15). There is a significant difference in knowledge of balanced nutrition before and after the intervention. Therefore, learning with engaging media provides new experiences for students to understand the material presented. Powtoon learning media can be developed or compared with other learning media to find out which one is superior so that it can be widely used.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a population that still practices open defecation in various open areas. According to WHO data, Indonesia is included in 61 countries in the world where more than 5% of the population still practice open defecation. In the case of open defecation, Aceh Province is classified as having the highest open defecation and data from the Ministry of Health states that out of 6502 villages where people still practice open defecation in open areas, only 3% of villages are free from open defecation in 2017. This has led to an increase in the spread of diarrheal disease in the Aceh region. The Aceh Provincial Health Office revealed that the impact of open defecation resulted in a high number of diarrhea sufferers reaching 256,386 people with an average of 13% per year. Cot Keumude Village, Woyla District, West Aceh District is one of the villages that still causes open defecation problems and is one of the villages where most people defecate in open areas. It is known that Cot Keumude Village is occupied by 76 family cards (KK), while 31 families have facilities that comply with the Ministry of Health standards and 46 families do not have facilities. This study aims to look at the factors associated with open defecation (BABS) behavior in Cot Keumude Village, Woyla District, West Aceh District. This study uses a descriptive quantitative research method with a cross sectional approach, while the univariate and bivariate analysis methods are through the chi square test. The results showed that the knowledge variable was p-value = 0.009, the support variable from community leaders was p-value = 0.000, the education variable was p-value = 0.001 and economic status was p-value = 0.001. These results indicate that the variables of knowledge, support from community leaders, education and economic status are significantly related to open defecation behavior in the village of Cot Keumude.

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a symptom that occurs before the menstrual period and will stop when menstruation begins. The low knowledge of young women about PMS can cause many PMS complaints. One strategy to increase knowledge through counseling is using the lecture method with slide media. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in counseling using the lecture method with slide media on young women's knowledge of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) at Serambi Mecca Islamic High School, West Aceh. This type of research uses quasi-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all young women at Serambi Mecca Islamic High School, West Aceh, totaling 221 students. Determination of the number of samples using the slovin formula as many as 147 samples. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling. Data analysis was performed by means of univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test with SPSS. The research instrument used a questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of providing counseling using the lecture method with slide media on respondents' knowledge about Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), obtained Pretest–Posttest 1 knowledge with a Pvalue of 0.000 and Posttest1–Posttest2 with a Pvalue of 0.008 which is smaller than the value α = 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there is a difference in increasing the knowledge of female students before, after, and after 10 days of being given counseling using the lecture method with slide media. It is hoped that future researchers can use the lecture method with slide media as a reference in collaborating with health agencies to empower reproductive health so as to increase student knowledge. Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that significantly impacts communication, social interaction, and behavior in children, often leading to withdrawal, repetitive behaviors, and difficulties with eye contact. Traditional diagnostic methods primarily relied on behavioral assessments, which have proven insufficient in accuracy. This study aims to enhance ASD diagnosis by employing Electroencephalography (EEG) as an objective marker to differentiate between individuals with ASD and neurotypical individuals. Utilizing a dataset from King Abdulaziz University comprising 16 children—4 neurotypical and 12 with ASD—this research implements preprocessing techniques such as Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to eliminate noise and artifacts from EEG signals. Following this, Wavelet Packet Decomposition (WPD) is applied at three levels to improve signal resolution. Statistical features including mean, variance, skewness, and kurtosis are extracted for classification purposes. The Random Forest (RF) method is then employed for classification, achieving an accuracy of 76.8%. However, classification errors predominantly arise from the imbalance in the dataset, with more data available for ASD subjects compared to neurotypical subjects. The findings reveal significant differences in statistical features between the two groups, indicating the potential of EEG technology and computational algorithms in developing a more accurate and objective ASD diagnosis system. This research contributes valuable insights for early intervention strategies and future studies aimed at improving diagnostic methodologies for children with autism.
