Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of sarcasm in virtual communication within Mobile Legends gameplay content on YouTube, particularly on the @PascolKintil channel. The development of digital communication through social media platforms enables interaction without face-to-face contact, influencing how individuals express opinions, emotions, and criticism through language. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach based on Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) theory to examine how sarcastic expressions appear in digital gaming interactions. Data were collected through non-participant observation of two selected YouTube videos and documentation of verbal expressions that contain sarcasm. The analysis process involved data reduction, data presentation, and interpretative conclusion drawing. The results show that sarcasm functions not only as a form of criticism and humor but also as a strategy for expressing frustration, reducing tension during gameplay, strengthening team solidarity, and building digital identity within online gaming communities. In virtual communication contexts where non-verbal cues are limited, sarcastic meanings rely heavily on textual and verbal expressions as well as shared contextual understanding among players and audiences. The study concludes that sarcasm represents an adaptive communication strategy that shapes interaction patterns and digital communication culture among online gaming communities on YouTube.

Abstract

The accumulation of waste at Pasar Minggu Market in Bengkulu City has become an environmental issue that affects cleanliness, public health, and the comfort of trading activities in the market area. This condition is not only caused by the limited availability of waste management facilities but is also related to the lack of effective communication between the government as the environmental management authority and the community and traders as users of public space. This study aims to analyze the crisis communication carried out by the Environmental Agency of Bengkulu City in handling the waste problem at Pasar Minggu Market. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to provide an in-depth description of the communication processes involved in managing this environmental crisis. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation involving informants from the Environmental Agency, market traders, and local community members around Pasar Minggu Market. The findings indicate that the government’s communication in addressing the waste crisis has not been effective because it tends to use a one-way communication pattern and does not actively involve the community in waste management efforts. In addition, limited waste transportation facilities, inadequate waste disposal infrastructure, and low public awareness of environmental cleanliness further worsen the situation. Therefore, strengthening a more participatory communication strategy is necessary through increased direct socialization, transparent information dissemination, and active involvement of both the community and traders in maintaining the cleanliness of the market environment in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Personal branding is the process of building a unique, strong, and relevant self-image in the public’s mind. In modern political contexts, personal branding serves as a strategic tool to shape public perception, trust, and voter loyalty, particularly through social media platforms. This study aims to analyze Destita Khairilisani’s political communication strategy in building her personal branding as a member of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) through her Instagram account @destitabengkulu, using Peter Montoya’s eight laws of personal branding as the analytical framework. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a single case study strategy within a constructivist paradigm. Data were analyzed using content analysis of Instagram posts from December 2025 to January 2026, supported by library research. The findings indicate that The Law of Specialization serves as the primary pillar in constructing Destita’s image as a “Technocrat-Pharmacist” and doctoral academic with expertise in health and education. This specialization is reinforced by solution-oriented leadership, an inclusive personality, consistent visual differentiation, and sustained digital visibility. The integration of professional competence, authentic character, and message consistency shapes her image as a “Doctor for Regional Problems,” aligning with the needs of the Bengkulu community. The study concludes that specialization, consistency, and moral values are key factors in building political trust and legitimacy in the digital communication era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of Bengkuluekspress.com in utilizing news videos and audio narration to increase audience engagement on digital platforms. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consisted of five individuals directly involved in the multimedia content production process, including the General Manager, Editor-in-Chief, Content Manager, Video Editor, and Voice Over. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This study applies the Uses and Gratifications Theory (UGT) to understand the relationship between media strategies and audience needs. The results show that Bengkuluekspress.com implements audiovisual content management strategies through four main stages: content planning, video and audio narration production, multiplatform content distribution, and evaluation based on audience engagement data. Audio narration plays an important role in clarifying information and building storytelling that helps viewers understand the news content. Meanwhile, distributing content across various digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok expands reach and increases audience interaction. The challenges faced include strict digital platform regulations, technical production limitations, and content format adjustments for each platform. The study concludes that the strategic use of video and audio narration can significantly enhance audience engagement while strengthening the competitiveness of local online media.
