Abstract

ABSTRAK Diabetes melitus tipe 2 adalah penyakit kronis yang ditandai dengan kadar gula darah tinggi akibat resistensi insulin atau produksi insulin yang tidak cukup. DM 2 biasa terjadi pada orang dewasa, tetapi juga bisa menyerang anak-anak akibat gaya hidup tidak sehat. Gejala umum meliputi sering buang air kecil, haus berlebihan, dan lapar. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini yaitu mengetahui kadar gula darah dan memeberikan edukasi terkait Diabetes melitus. Metode penelitian berupa pelaksanaannya berupa pemberian materi dan cek gula darah sewaktu pada masyarakat di sekitar apotek pandjaitan farma. Hasil kegaiatan menunjukkan sebanyak 33 responden dari 52 responden berjenis kelamin laki-laki, 37 responen memiliki umur 60 tahun ke atas dan 36 responden memiliki gula darah sewaktu yang terkontrol. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan yaitu tingkat skor pengetahuan dari 52 responden adalah 13,37±3,85 dengan kategori sedang dan tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara skor tingkat pengetahuan dan outcome klinik control gula darah (p<0,05). Kata Kunci: Edukasi, Diabetes Mellitus, Tingkat Pengetahuan, Apotek  ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels due to insulin resistance or insufficient insulin production. DM 2 usually occurs in adults, but can also attack children due to an unhealthy lifestyle. Common symptoms include frequent urination, excessive thirst, and hunger. The aim of this activity is to determine blood sugar levels and provide education regarding diabetes mellitus. implementation consisted of providing materials and checking blood sugar in the community around the Pandjaitan Farma pharmacy. The results showed that 33 respondents out of 52 respondents were male, 37 respondents were aged 60 years and over and 36 respondents had controlled blood sugar over time. the level of knowledge score of the 52 respondents was 13.37 ± 3.85 in the medium category and there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge score and the outcome of the blood sugar control clinic (p <0.05). Keywords: Education, Diabetes Mellitus, Knowledge Level, Pharmacy

Abstract

Lensa kontak adalah alat bantu penglihatan yang dipasang pada kornea untuk memperbaiki gangguan refraksi. Namun, lensa kontak berisiko mengalami kontaminasi bakteri apabila kebersihan dan petunjuk penggunaannya tidak diikuti dengan baik. Faktor risiko utama kontaminasi mikroba pada lensa kontak adalah kurangnya perhatian terhadap kebersihan, yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi pada mata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat cemaran mikroba pada cairan lensa kontak selama periode penyimpanan hingga dua bulan. Metode yang digunakan adalah Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) untuk menghitung jumlah koloni bakteri aerob mesofil yang tumbuh setelah sampel diinokulasikan pada media padat menggunakan metode tuang (pour plate method), kemudian diinkubasi pada suhu 35–37°C selama 24–48 jam dan dilanjutkan dengan analisis statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai ALT pada bulan ke-0, 1, dan 2 berturut-turut sebesar 3 × 10¹ cfu/mL, 5 × 10⁴ cfu/mL, dan 9 × 10⁵ cfu/mL, dengan hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai p > 0,05. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa terdapat peningkatan jumlah cemaran mikroba berdasarkan kenaikan nilai ALT dari bulan ke-0 hingga bulan ke-2, namun peningkatan tersebut tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik antara cairan lensa kontak yang disimpan selama 0, 1, dan 2 bulan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat mengenai edukasi bahaya Bahan Tambahan Pangan (BTP) asam benzoat dan demonstrasi deteksi mandirinya pada 30 orang Ibu-ibu PKK telah berjalan dengan efektif. Intervensi dengan pendekatan multimodal ini berhasil meningkatkan literasi dan keterampilan peserta yang didominasi oleh kelompok usia pra-lansia (43,3%) yang berperan penting sebagai penjaga gawang kesehatan keluarga. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkanforma bahwa tingkat keberhasilan keterampilan praktis peserta dalam mendeteksi asam benzoat menggunakan test kit mencapai 72,5%, lebih tinggi dibandingkan tingkat pemahaman teoretis dan sikap yang berada di angka 60%, dengan rerata skor evaluasi keseluruhan 14,23±1,55. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa pemberdayaan konsumen melalui penguasaan alat deteksi konkret lebih mudah diadaptasi dibandingkan sekadar kampanye informasi abstrak. Untuk memperluas dampak positifnya, program ini direkomendasikan agar berlanjut dengan penguatan pemahaman terkait regulasi batas aman pangan serta menjadikan kelompok PKK sebagai pendidik sebaya (peer educators) demi terciptanya ekosistem keamanan pangan yang berkelanjutan di tingkat komunitas. Kata Kunci: Asam Benzoat, Bahan Tambahan Pangan, Deteksi Mandiri, Ibu PKK, Keamanan Pangan.  ABSTRACT The community service activity regarding education on the hazards of the food additive benzoic acid and the demonstration of its independent detection among 30 women of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) has been implemented effectively. This multimodal intervention successfully improved the literacy and skills of the participants, who were predominantly in the pre-elderly age cohort (43.3%) and act as pivotal gatekeepers of family health. Evaluation results indicated that the participants' practical skill success rate in detecting benzoic acid using a test kit reached 72.5%, which was higher than their theoretical understanding and attitude levels at 60%, with an overall mean evaluation score of 14.23 ± 1.55. These findings indicate that consumer empowerment through the mastery of concrete detection tools is more readily adopted than abstract informational campaigns alone. To expand its positive impact, it is recommended that the program be continued by strengthening comprehension of food safety limit regulations and empowering the PKK group as peer educators to foster a sustainable food safety ecosystem at the community level. Keywords: Benzoic Acid, Food Additive, Independent Detection, PKK Women, Food Safety.

Abstract

Background:Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health problem with a continuously increasing prevalence and is strongly influenced by dietary patterns, particularly high energy intake, excessive simple sugars, and low fiber intake, which contribute to elevated postprandial glycemic responses. Effective management requires low-glycemic, nutrient-dense dietary interventions; however, commonly consumed processed foods, including instant cereals, often have high glycemic impacts. Therefore, the development of functional foods based on local ingredients such as plantain banana, soybean, and moringa leaves offers a promising strategy to support glycemic controlObjectives: This study aimed to formulate and evaluate an instant cereal based on plantain banana flour, soybean sprout flour, and moringa leaf flour (kepilor) that meets the dietary requirements for diabetes mellitus.Methods:  This study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three levels of plantain flour substitution (20%, 30%, and 40%), each conducted in triplicate. The parameters analyzed included organoleptic properties, yield, energy values, nutrient compositions, and energy densities. Nutrient composition was determined using standard methods (gravimetric, dry ashing, micro-Kjeldahl, Soxhlet, and carbohydrate by difference). Organoleptic evaluation was conducted using a 9-point hedonic scale with 30 semi-trained panelists, and the best treatment was determined using an effectiveness index test with 10 other trained panelists. Data were analyzed using ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis test with p < 0.05Results:  The results showed that formulation variations did not significantly affect protein, fat, carbohydrate, and fiber contents (p>0.05), with values ranging from 5.57–5.65 g, 2.83–2.90 g, 17.92–18.12 g, and 0.21–0.29 g per serving, respectively. However, significant differences were observed in total energy (119.40–120.63 kcal), energy density (0.597–0.603 kcal/mL), and taste (p<0.05), with taste being the only sensory attribute significantly affected by formulation. The formulation containing 30% plantain banana flour (T2) was identified as the best treatment, providing 120.63 kcal per serving, 5.65 g protein, 2.90 g fat, 17.98 g carbohydrates, 0.29 g fiber, and an energy density of 0.603 kcal/mLConclusion: In conclusion, kepilor instant cereal has potential as a low-energy-density functional snack suitable for the dietary management of individuals with diabetes mellitus.
