Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study aims to evaluate the interest of biology students in attending general education courses, specifically religious subjects, while exploring the impact of various factors such as gender, academic background, and extracurricular involvement. By doing so, it seeks to better understand how these factors influence students' engagement in interdisciplinary education. Methodology: The research adopts a mixed-methods approach. It begins with quantitative analysis, employing descriptive statistics to assess general interest levels, followed by qualitative validation through interviews with seven selected informants. The study population consists of 131 active biology students in the 2023/2024 academic year, with a final sample of 100 after data cleaning. The sampling method used was total sampling to ensure broad representation. Principal Findings: The findings reveal a variety of interest levels among biology students in religious subjects, with no significant differences based on gender, academic semester, high school major, or extracurricular involvement in religious activities or organizations. However, the school of origin emerged as a significant factor, indicating that students' previous educational experiences play a crucial role in shaping their engagement with religious subjects. Novelty/Originality of this Study: This research introduces a novel perspective by uncovering the influence of a student’s educational background specifically, their school origin on their interest in interdisciplinary religious education. It offers new insights into how prior schooling experiences contribute to shaping students’ academic and personal interests, particularly within the context of general education courses, thus providing valuable implications for curriculum design in higher education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas pentingnya metode pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dan interaksi antara dosen dan mahasiswa dalam konteks perguruan tinggi. Latar belakang penelitian mengemukakan bahwa metode pembelajaran yang berfokus pada keberagaman siswa merupakan pendekatan yang penting dalam pendidikan saat ini, mengingat peran teknologi dalam menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang lebih personal dan interaktif. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti bahwa interaksi antara dosen dan mahasiswa memainkan peran kunci dalam menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang positif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara kelompok terhadap mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki beragam persepsi terkait metode pembelajaran dan tugas yang diberikan oleh dosen. Beberapa mahasiswa merasa bosan dan kurang termotivasi jika metode pembelajaran monoton, sementara yang lain lebih suka metode pembelajaran yang praktis dan interaktif. Interaksi yang baik antara dosen dan mahasiswa dianggap penting, dengan harapan dosen mampu mendengarkan, memberikan feedback konstruktif, dan menciptakan lingkungan yang nyaman. Tantangan dalam berinteraksi dengan dosen termasuk kurangnya respons dari dosen terhadap pesan mahasiswa dan penggunaan bahasa yang sulit dimengerti. Terlalu banyak tugas juga dapat membebani mahasiswa, terutama jika batas waktu yang singkat. Namun, tugas yang terkait dengan teknologi, pengalaman langsung, dan isu sosial dianggap positif oleh mahasiswa.

Abstract

Perfeksionisme akademik sering kali menjadi tantangan bagi mahasiswa, terutama di bidang yang menuntut ketelitian dan presisi, seperti sains termasuk di bidang pendidikan biologi. Hal ini disebabkan oleh ilmu biologi yang kompleks. Dalam konteks ini, perfeksionisme akademik sains merujuk pada dorongan untuk mencapai standar yang sangat tinggi dalam aktivitas akademik. Meskipun perfeksionisme dapat memotivasi untuk meraih prestasi lebih baik, ia juga berisiko menimbulkan kecemasan, stres, dan ketakutan akan kegagalan, yang berdampak negatif pada performa akademik dan kesehatan mental mahasiswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan campuran (mixed-methods) yang bertujuan mengeksplorasi tingkat perfeksionisme akademik sains di kalangan mahasiswa pendidikan biologi. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 100 mahasiswa pendidikan biologi dari total 131 populasi yang merupakan seluruh mahasiswa pendidikan biologi yang aktif pada tahun akademik 2023/2024. Instrumen penelitian mencakup kuesioner dengan 12 item pernyataan dan wawancara tidak terstruktur. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner daring, cetak, dan wawancara mendalam. Analisis statistik deskriptif digunakan untuk menggambarkan karakteristik data, sedangkan ANOVA mengevaluasi perbedaan signifikan antar kelompok demografis. Data kualitatif dianalisis secara manual dengan metode tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecenderungan perfeksionisme di kalangan mahasiswa meski terdapat variasi individu yang berbeda, menekankan pentingnya memahami perfeksionisme akademik untuk pengembangan pendidikan dan kesadaran kesehatan mental, karena perfeksionisme berpotensi menyebabkan stres dan depresi.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the difference in moral levels between Islamic Education (PAI) students who participated in the Ma'had al-Jamiah program at IAIN Kerinci and those who did not participate (non-participants). The method used was a quantitative research method with a survey approach. The questionnaire consisted of 10 items containing indicators of morality towards Allah SWT, morality towards fellow human beings, and morality towards the environment. The total sample size was 70 PAI students, comprising 35 students who participated in the Ma'had al-Jamiah program and 35 non-participants. This study conducted normality tests and statistical tests using SPSS. Based on the normality test, the morality of PAI students who participated in the program was normally distributed (significance value 0.071 > 0.05), while PAI students who did not participate in the program were not normally distributed (significance value 0.00 < 0.05). Therefore, data analysis was conducted using parametric statistical tests with Mann Whitney U. The results of the statistical tests showed that the significance value for morality (0.682) was greater than 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between PAI students who participated in the Ma'had al-Jamiah program at IAIN Kerinci and PAI students who did not participate in the program. However, based on the interval questionnaire scores, the moral level of PAI students who participated in the program was categorized as Good (3.07), while students who did not participate were categorized as Fairly Good (2.82). Therefore, it can be said that both groups of PAI students have good moral levels.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the transformation of Scholastic Performance through Islamic Spiritual Engagement in a leading rural school. Using a quantitative method with a survey approach, this study involved 213 students as samples, which were taken through a simple random sampling technique. The results showed that religious activities, such as recitation, joining tahsin classes, joining the Qur'an tahfizh program, praying together, have a positive impact on learning motivation and can shape student character, which can contribute to improving students' Scholastic Performance. The findings suggest that there is a significant relationship between Spiritual Engagement and Scholastic Performance of students in excellent rural schools. The research shows that students who participate in religious activities tend to have better attitudes, including discipline, responsibility, and cooperation, all of which contribute to improving their Scholastic Performance.

Abstract

This study explores prospective science and religion teachers' perceptions of professionalism within Islamic education at Islamic universities. Purposive sampling was used, and in-depth interviews were conducted with 17 students, including nine science majors and eight religion majors. Thematic data analysis was employed to examine the views, values, and practices that underpin their understanding of professionalism. The findings reveal that prospective Science teachers emphasize the significance of deep and applicable scientific mastery, while prospective Religion teachers prioritize moral and spiritual professionalism in teaching Islamic values. Both groups, however, concur that professionalism encompasses integrity, good teaching ethics, and a commitment to the mission of Islamic education. Factors such as the educational environment, institutional policies, and societal expectations significantly influence their perceptions. This study provides valuable insights into how professionalism is conceptualized and practiced within Islamic education, highlighting the need for more inclusive and relevant teaching approaches. These findings offer a foundation for enhancing educational policies and practices to better develop professionalism among future educators in Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in religious identity among high school students based on gender in Sungai Penuh City. Religious identity is acrucial aspect in shaping students' character, encompassing dimensions of belief, religious practices, and moral values. The focus of this study is to describe how male and female students understand and practice religious values, as well as the factors influencing these differences. This research employs a quantitative approach with a random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to first-year high school students. Data analysis was conducted to evaluate gender differences in terms of religiosity. The findings indicate that female students exhibit a higher level of religious identity compared to male students. This result reflects a greater involvement of females in religious practices, both in school and community-based activities. Social and cultural factors, such as gender roles in societal norms, significantly influence these differences. The implications of this study highlight the need for a more inclusive approach in religious education to address the needs of both male and female students. Additionally, this study contributes to the development of a religious education curriculum that is relevant to local contexts and gender differences.

Abstract

Kelompok kohesif dalam lingkungan akademik keagamaan memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk dedikasi akademik mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kelompok kohesif terhadap dedikasi akademik mahasiswa Pendidikan Agama Islam di IAIN Kerinci. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan statistik, melibatkan 103 mahasiswa sebagai sampel yang diperoleh melalui kuesioner daring dan manual. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji regresi linier sederhana untuk melihat pengaruh kelompok kohesif terhadap dedikasi akademik, serta uji ANOVA untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan kelompok berdasarkan jenis kelamin, semester, dan kepribadian (introvert, ekstrovert, dan ambivert). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok kohesif memiliki pengaruh sebesar 28,3% terhadap dedikasi akademik mahasiswa. Namun, uji ANOVA menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pembentukan kelompok kohesif berdasarkan jenis kelamin, semester, maupun kepribadian mahasiswa. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa keberadaan kelompok kohesif dapat menjadi faktor yang mendorong dedikasi akademik mahasiswa, terlepas dari perbedaan demografis dan psikologis mereka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi guru terhadap integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam mata pelajaran umum, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mendorong integrasi tersebut, serta mengevaluasi dampaknya terhadap proses pembelajaran. Menggunakan pendekatan interpretif dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi untuk memahami konteks pengajaran, serta wawancara mendalam guna menggali faktor-faktor pendorong dan mengevaluasi dampak integrasi. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa pengalaman pribadi guru, baik sebagai siswa maupun mahasiswa, serta kebijakan kurikulum di Sekolah Islam Terpadu (SIT), menjadi pendorong utama integrasi nilai-nilai Islam. Implementasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam mata pelajaran umum dilakukan secara alami dengan menyisipkan nilai-nilai dan fakta Islami yang relevan, meskipun tantangan muncul dalam menjaga keseimbangan antara pencapaian tujuan akademis dan pengajaran nilai-nilai Islam. Para guru berperan penting sebagai teladan, tidak hanya sebagai penyampai ilmu tetapi juga sebagai pembentuk karakter siswa. Integrasi nilai-nilai Islam terbukti tidak hanya meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran akademis, tetapi juga berperan dalam membentuk karakter Islami siswa, yang ditandai dengan peningkatan moralitas, kejujuran, dan tanggung jawab. Dampak positif integrasi ini terlihat dalam peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi pelajaran, sekaligus membentuk mereka menjadi individu yang berakhlak baik dan berintegritas, sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Islam. Kesimpulannya, integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam mata pelajaran umum memiliki kontribusi yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan pengembangan karakter siswa.
