Abstract

In Indonesia, the narrative of Religious Moderation is being hotly discussed and has even been included in the RPJMN 2020-2024. The target index has been determined, but measurement instruments are still minimal and can be used to measure the level of religious moderation at the university level. This research was conducted in response to these needs. The development of this instrument uses a unidimensional construct using Rasch analysis. The number of samples used was 406 students selected using the multistage random sampling technique. This development goes through three stages, namely item generation, where the objectives and concepts of measuring religious moderation are arranged to produce latent items. The theoretical analysisaims to test the scale's content validity. The last stage is a psychometric analysiswhich seeks to analyze the availability of the sample and construct the validity and reliability of the scale using Rasch analysis. The first stage produced 48 statements; thesecond stage resulted in changes in the religious context and usedmore appropriate words to describe the scale interval. The last stage makes 24 valid argumentsto be sureof religious moderation.

Abstract

Androgynous fashion trends incorporate men’s and women’s clothing elements and are often embraced by individuals who challenge traditional gender norms. This research project aims to explore the reactions of religious individuals to non-binary people wearing androgynous clothing in everyday life. Using a narrative inquiry approach, this research collects interview data to analyze critical issues from the informants’ points of view. Informants were selected through an Outcome-based sampling method from Muslim-majority communities and Islamic college. Examining the responses of community members and students is essential to understand their attitudes toward critical issues better. Research analysis involves two distinct stages. First, it is essential to identify patterns in the data obtained from the two groups of informants based on the derived themes. Second, these patterns must be thoroughly compared with theoretical perspectives to ensure that comprehensive and holistic data is produced. Research indicates that religious individuals and students often share different perspectives regarding non-binary individuals who opt for an androgynous appearance.

Abstract

This study endeavors to scrutinize student contentment levels regarding pedagogical approaches utilized by educators amidst the backdrop of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with a particular emphasis on students categorized by their fields of study and institutional affiliations. Data were collated from 123 student participants drawn from diverse universities within the Province of Jambi. This research used a structured online questionnaire to acquire data in employing a quantitative methodology. Data analysis involved the utilization of a Likert scale to gauge the degree of student satisfaction. Assumption testing was used to analyze the Likert scale. In this study, assumption testing using independent sample t-tests, also viewed through the acquisition of proportion values, was used to determine how differences in satisfaction levels were found. Findings reveal noteworthy student satisfaction concerning instructional methodologies, notably in punctuality, subject matter proficiency, instructional delivery, and assessment and evaluation procedures. Moreover, evaluating instructor performance, as perceived by students vis-à-vis their respective majors and institutional statuses, substantially impacts satisfaction levels with pedagogical strategies across various facets of the learning process. The cumulative average significance of overall satisfaction with instructional methodologies among students enrolled in universities within Jambi. Nonetheless, areas necessitating enhancement, such as evaluation and assessment practices, alongside fostering emotional rapport between students and instructors, are underscored as imperative for promoting an optimal learning environment.

Abstract

Islamic Higher Education often serves as a pivotal educational centre, cultivating knowledge and fostering academic growth. Understanding the factors influencing students' academic performance, particularly in specialized fields like Tadris Biology, holds significance in optimising educational strategies and support systems. This study aims to ascertain the variables that impact the Cumulative Achievement Index of Tadris Biology students at Islamic universities. The research methodology employed is qualitative, using Grounded Theory analysis techniques. Data was collected by administering a questionnaire and conducting in-depth interviews with 67 students. The findings indicate that prior educational experience, gender, and parental income affect GPA. Students with a scientific background, female students, and those from higher-income households tend to achieve higher GPAs. Conversely, social media usage can hurt academic performance, while involvement in extracurricular activities has no discernible effect. The benefit of this research is that it explores factors affecting the academic success of tardis biology students in Islamic higher education. This research holds inherent value in unravelling the nuanced aspects that shape the academic success of Tadris Biology students within the realm of Islamic higher education. Understanding these dynamics can pave the way for tailored interventions and support systems to enhance student outcomes in this specialised field.

Abstract

Parents introduce electronic screens to children because they are busy, want to provide religious viewing, and hope to develop children’s imagination. Then this study aims to dig deeper into the intersectionality of religious animated films that children watch, educational values, and parenting styles. This study chose a phenomenological study to analyze these social practices. Informants are parents who interpret children’s religious animated films as a system of positive norms, rules, and values. Nine groups of husband and wife became research informants. Interviews were used to obtain data which was analyzed according to the parents’ interpretive categories. Data representation is formed through the experiences and values that the informants believe. Interpretive conclusions come from data reductions obtained from informants and present research results away from the value bias that researchers believe. The reasons for the values parents feel toward children’s religious animated films are explained further in the study.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study aims to evaluate the interest of biology students in attending general education courses, specifically religious subjects, while exploring the impact of various factors such as gender, academic background, and extracurricular involvement. By doing so, it seeks to better understand how these factors influence students' engagement in interdisciplinary education. Methodology: The research adopts a mixed-methods approach. It begins with quantitative analysis, employing descriptive statistics to assess general interest levels, followed by qualitative validation through interviews with seven selected informants. The study population consists of 131 active biology students in the 2023/2024 academic year, with a final sample of 100 after data cleaning. The sampling method used was total sampling to ensure broad representation. Principal Findings: The findings reveal a variety of interest levels among biology students in religious subjects, with no significant differences based on gender, academic semester, high school major, or extracurricular involvement in religious activities or organizations. However, the school of origin emerged as a significant factor, indicating that students' previous educational experiences play a crucial role in shaping their engagement with religious subjects. Novelty/Originality of this Study: This research introduces a novel perspective by uncovering the influence of a student’s educational background specifically, their school origin on their interest in interdisciplinary religious education. It offers new insights into how prior schooling experiences contribute to shaping students’ academic and personal interests, particularly within the context of general education courses, thus providing valuable implications for curriculum design in higher education.
