Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the ideal mixture composition in theprocess of making polyester in thermoset polymers, where the composition of this mixture will have high tensile strength and bending strength. This thermosetpolymer is made by mixing polyester resin with hardener, varying between 1 %, 2 %, 4 %, and 7 %. Polyester resins that have been mixed with hardener are poured into the mold. After drying, the polymer is input into the mold to be pressed and curing. After drying, a tensile test specimen and bending test are made. Tensile testing is carried out using the ASTM D 638-02 type 4 standard, and bending testing is carried out with ASTM D709-02 type 4 standard. From the results of testing the tensile strength and bending strength obtained the maximum strength found in the mixture composition of 93:7 % with a value of 30.69 N/mm2 and 70.634 N/mm2 respectively.Keywords: Resin, hardener, tensile strength, bending, polymer

Abstract

The process welding which in principle is connecting two or more components, more rightly aimed toassemble ( assembly ) several components into one form of machine. The purpose of this research is to findthe mechanical force low carbon steel and high carbon steel. Material of this research is low carbon steelplate thick of 10 mm and high carbon steel of a spring thick 10 mm. the process welding use electrodesE6013 and E7016 by the angle v . Test in do is testing pull and testing hardness brinell .Where testing pull ,tensile strength on the highest low carbon steel found in specimens 2 namely 44,92 kg/mm2 .While in testingpul high carbon steel tensile strength is highest in specimens column material that is 91,35 kg /mm2. ForBrinell Hardness Test, the highest hardness HAZ to low carbon steel is on a point of 1 and 3 namely 104,53kg/ mm2. While highest hardness HAZ to high carbon steel is at that point 1 namely 201,03 kg / mm2.Keywords: welding, tensile strength and hardness

Abstract

The phenomenon of the movement of fluid flow across an object plays an important role in terms of transportation. Different body shapes will produce different fluid flow characteristics and greatly affect the function of the body shape, so it is important to know the characteristics of fluid flow, so that the factors causing losses in a construction that are not in accordance with the natural properties of the fluid can be identified. If the drag is large can be reduced, the energy needed to move can be reduced and save fuel. the use of numerical methods is a way of studying flow characteristics that is relatively inexpensive with a scientifically justifiable level of accuracy. The problem of this study is how the characteristics of the fluid flow to the forces that pass through the square cross section. This study uses a square geometry test model and a single splitter plate geometry test. The research was carried out by computational methods using Ansys FLUENT CFD software with the Realizable k-ε turbulence model. The results showed that the use of a splitter plate resulted in a decrease in Cd, -CPb values and an increase in speed (u). This indicated that the use of a splitter plate could reduce resistance and pressure and expedite the distribution of fluid flow. and there is an increase in the Cl value parameter, this is due to the enlargement of the wake. From this study it was found that the use of a splitter plate was good in reducing Cd values, this is in accordance with the literature Kata kunci: Ansys fluent, CFD, fluid, Reynolds, drag coefficient, pressure coefficient, lift coefficient

Abstract

Nowadays, fiberglass composites are widely applied to the construction that receives tension and bending loads. The purpose of this research is to know and analyze the mechanical properties of fiberglass by using different layers. In this research the manufacture of composites using hand-lay-up method. The manufacture of specimen for the tensile test refers to the standard ASTM D 638-02 and standard ASTM D 790-02 bending test. The method used in data analysis is graph data analysis to see the relationship between interconnected parameters and dependence on the size of the specimen 13 mm and the number of variations in the composition of the specimen mixture. The results showed that the composition of the mixture with the highest tensile voltage of 60.2719 N/mm2 was in the variation of 5 layers and the bending test with a value of 116.93 N/mm2. While the lowest tensile strength is 33.2882 N/mm2 and the lowest bending of 100.84 N/mm2 is found in the composition of variation 2 layers.Keywords: composite, fiberglass, polyester resin

Abstract

In the industrial world, the development of material technology is growing rapidly. There is an increasing demand for materials with certain properties such as perforated composites. The consideration of perforated composites is an important parameter in the design of composite components. The purpose of this study was to determine the tensile stress and strain characteristics of hollow CFRP composites. The research method used is to analyze the tensile test using abaqus software, the tensile test analysis is carried out with 3 variations in the diameter of the hole (2 mm, 4 mm, and 6 mm). From the tensile test simulation results, it is found that the highest stress occurs in the 6 mm diameter composite with a maximum stress value of 180.4 N/mm², and the lowest stress occurs in the 2 mm diameter composite with a maximum stress value of 102.6 N/mm². The highest stress and strain that occurs in each specimen is located on the edge of the hole perpendicular to the direction of the force, the stress and strain increase based on the diameter of the hole in the composite, the larger the diameter in the composite, the greater the stress that occurs..Keywords: Tensile test, CFRP composite, abaqus software

Abstract

The development of science and technology in the maritime field is increasing marked by the rapid progress that occurs with the creation of increasingly sophisticated equipment. However, the development of unmanned ship technology is still not widely applied in Indonesia, so it is necessary to develop further technology on unmanned ship technology so that it can be applied in Indonesia, both in the military, commercial and so on. For that we designed an unmanned ship without a remote control automatic control. In this remote control automatic ship program, there are two main programs, namely the transmitter/sender program, where this program is used to program the remote control, while the receiver/receiver program is used on the ship to be steered, and to connect the transmitter and receiver. using the nRF25L01 module. The workings of this tool is that when potentiometer 1 is read it will move the servo motor, and if potentiometer 2 is read, it will move the Brushed Motor through the ESC. The comparison results at an angle of 45°, the track diameter is 145.33 cm, with a time of 5.59 seconds and a speed of 26.02 cm/s. At an angle of 30°, the track diameter is 226.67 cm, with a time of 9.51 seconds and a speed of 23.80 cm/s. While at an angle of 15°, the track diameter is 331.33 cm, with a time of 15.52 seconds and a speed of 21.36 cm/s.Keywords: Unmanned Ship, nRF24L01, Potentiometer

Abstract

Welding is one of the metal joining techniques by melting some of the parent metal and filler metal which is currently widely used with different methods and movements of welding electrodes. These methods aim to obtain flat and smooth welds and at the same time become the impetus for the compilers to conduct research entitled "analysis of the mechanical strength of welded joints using circular and zig-zag swing patterns on medium carbon steel" with the aim of knowing the effect of welding patterns on hardness test on medium carbon steel material and the effect of microstructure welding pattern on medium carbon steel material. This research was conducted in August 2020, at the Mechanical Engineering Materials and Technology Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Halu Oleo University Kendari. The tools used are welding machines, grinding machines, welding goggles, pliers, masks and gloves while the materials are 0.5 cm carbon steel plate, welding electrodes, grinding wheels. The results of the first research are that for welding using a circular electrode movement pattern which shows a softer or more ductile result, while for a harder or brittle result, it is shown in the zigzag electrode movement welding process and secondly that the circular electrode movement in the welding process has an impact on the microstructure. in the HAZ area which is getting darker because the structure formed is dominated by pearlite, while in welding the zigzag electrode movement has an impact on the HAZ area which is getting brighter because it is dominated by the bainite structureKeywords: Circular Welding Pattern, Mechanical Strength, Medium Carbon Steel, Zigzag Welding Pattern,

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the addition of nickel slag and crushed plastic into the paving block on the compressive strength. Paving blocks were made by conventional methods. Samples were made and tested according to SNI 03-0691-1996 standards. After molded, the paving blocks were dried within 28 days. After that, the materials were placed on a compression test device to determine the compressive strength. The results of the compression test showed that the maximum compressive strength value was owned by sample B with a value of 210.8 kg/cm2 with a volume composition of 25% cement, 5% coarse aggregate, 30% nickel slag, 5% fine aggregate, and 35% crushed plastic. The minimum compressive strength was found in sample A with a value of 129.17 kg/cm2 with a mixture composition of 25% cement, 25% coarse aggregate and 50% fine aggregate. From this study, it was found that there was an increase in the compressive strength of the paving block after the addition of chopped plastic and nickel slag.Keywords: paving block, slag nickel, plastic chopping, compressive strength

Abstract

Vibration is an alternating motion through its equilibrium point caused by a disturbance or deviation. This study aims to determine the value of vibrational displacement in fiberglass composite beams supported by fixed-fixed, fixed-free, and fixed-roll. The research method includes the design of a vibration test tool made of U-profile steel. The test material uses a composite beam measuring 1000 mm x 25 mm x 25 mm. variations in the placement of the exciter are 10 cm, 25 cm, 40 cm, 55 cm, and 70 cm. the result of the study were obtained on the support of the fixed-fixed the highest deviation value was at a distance of 25 cm, namely 0.193 mm, and the lowest value at a distance of 70 cm, namely 0.096 mm. On the fixed-free support the highest deflection value is at a distance of 70 cm which is 0.455 mm, and the lowest value is at a distance of 10 cm which is 0.133 mm. And while on the fixed-roll pile the highest deviation value is at a distance of 10 cm, which is 0.123 mm. Kata kunci: vibration, displacement, composite, support variation.

Abstract

The Southeast Sulawesi region, which is the East Kolaka area, especially the AERE sub- district, AERE village is an area whose livelihood is in agriculture. One of them is patchouli farming.  In  processing  patchouli,  most  still  use  traditional  methods.  This  makes  the patchouli processing process less efficient, so researchers want to create a tool that can make patchouli processing to save costs. Patchouli chopping machine is an important tool  in  improving  the  observation  of  patchouli  farming.  The  working  principle  of  this machine utilizes the power of a gasoline motor. Through the Puly mechanism and the V- belt produced by the gasoline motor, it will be transferred to the shaft which is connected to the blade. The stages of design and calculation on the patchouli chopping machine consist of calculating the design power, calculating the shaft, calculating the shear stress, torsional  moment  of  the  plan,  designing  the  blade  by  taking  into  account  the characteristic data of patchouli, the average patchouli volume and patchouli mass (ms). . Based on the results of the calculation of the characteristics of the patchouli plant with an average height of patchouli 150 cm, diameter of the main stem 12.79 mm and density of 0.112 g cm, it can be concluded that the power of the gasoline motor used is 6.5 hp with a shaft rotation of n1 3600 rpm , the design power obtained on the shaft design of the  patchouli  chopping  machine  is  9.554  (kw),  the  shear  stress  on  the  shaft  is  1.646 kg/mm², the compressive strength of the slicing knife is 36.2044512 N, with a shear stress of 0.1153008 N/mm².Keywords: Design, analysis, crusher machine,patchouli
