Abstract

Bioethanol is ethanol derived from biological sources and can be used as an alternative fuel. Bioethanol can be made from materials that contain cellulose, for example jackfruit rind which contains 38.69% cellulose. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the ratio of crude enzymes Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei to the sugar and bioethanol content of fermented jackfruit rind using Zymomonas mobilis. This type of research is experimental research. The experimental design used RAL with the independent variable ratio of crude Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei with variants (0:0), (0:1), (1:0), (1:1), (1:2), (2:1 ), (1:3), and (3:1). The dependent variables were sugar content and bioethanol from fermented jackfruit rind. Sugar content was measured by the DNS method. Ethanol content was measured using an alcoholmeter. Experimental data were analyzed by ANOVA. The results showed that the ratio of crude enzymes Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei affected the sugar content and bioethanol fermented jackfruit peel using Zymomonas mobilis. The highest sugar content in the crude enzyme ratio Aspergillus niger: Trichoderma reesei 1:0 of ??11.99% and the highest ethanol content of the crude ratio of 2: 1, which is 3.16%.

Abstract

Fossil energy is part of the needs of people in any country, including Indonesia. The need for fossil energy is increasing day by day. Therefore, efforts were made to find alternative raw materials from the non-food sector for the manufacture of ethanol. Cellulose material has potential as an alternative raw material for the manufacture of ethanol. One of the wastes that can be used is Arabica coffee skin. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of crude cellulase enzyme on sugar and ethanol content of fermented Arabica coffee husk using Zymomonas mobilis and to determine the concentration of crude cellulase enzyme which produces the highest sugar and ethanol content of fermented Arabica coffee husk using Zymomonas mobilis. This research is an experimental study with the independent variables, namely the concentration of crude cellulase enzymes, namely 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%, and 17.5% (V/V), and the dependent variable is the sugar content of hydrolysis with crude cellulase enzyme and the ethanol content of fermented with Zymomonas mobilis. The results of the experimental research were analyzed using regression test, ANOVA, and Duncan's test. The addition of crude cellulase enzyme Bacillus subtilis influence the increase in sugar and bioethanol content of fermented Arabica coffee husks using Zymomonas mobilis. The highest sugar content in the P6 treatment (concentration of crude cellulase enzyme Bacillus subtilis 15%) was 0.93 g/mL. The highest levels of bioethanol in treatment P4 (crude cellulase enzyme Bacillus subtilis concentration 10%) was 4.46%.

Abstract

Bioethanol fuel has the advantage of being more environmentally friendly than petroleum. Bioethanol is made from organic materials containing glucose. Baking rice contains 83.19% (w/w) carbohydrates and 29.70% (w/w) amylose which can be converted into bioethanol through hydrolysis and fermentation stages. This type of research is an experimental research, the initial stage carried out is the hydrolysis stage to obtain reducing sugars using crude Bacillus amyloliquefaciens enzymes with concentrations of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15 %, and 17.5% for 6 days. The next step is the fermentation stage to convert reducing sugar into ethanol using Zymomonas mobilis at a concentration of 10% for 4 days. And the final result is the distillation stage and the calculation of bioethanol levels using an alcohol meter. During the hydrolysis and fermentation processes, the sugar content was measured using the DNS (Dinitrosalicylic acid) method and the highest average sugar content was obtained at 10% Bacillus amyloliquefaciens concentration, namely 1.417 g/mL. The highest bioethanol content obtained was 3.03% at 10% Bacillus amyloliquefaciens concentration and the lowest bioethanol content was 0.61% at 0% Bacillus amyloliquefaciens concentration.

Abstract

Learning is a basic process of human development. By learning, humans make changes so that their behavior develops. Learning is not just an experience, but learning is a process and not a result. In learning activities at school, educators are faced with a number of very diverse student characteristics. The learning difficulties found at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta were found to be the average class score in biology subjects was still below the KKM. The purpose of this study was to determine the internal and external factors that cause students to experience learning difficulties and to determine the level of difficulty in learning biology in understanding virus material. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The population used in this study was 152 with a sample of 79 students. This research was conducted on June 6-7, 2024. This study used a cluster sampling technique because the data sources used were very broad. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and interviews. Data collection instruments used questionnaires and interview guidelines. The data analysis technique for this study used descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of the study showed that the internal factors that caused students in class X (E2, E4 and E4) to have difficulty learning biology on the virus material were physiological factors in the moderate category, with a percentage of 48%, 49.11% and 50%. External factors that caused students in class X-E2 to have difficulty learning biology on the virus material were school factors with a percentage of 74% in the high category, for class X-E4 were school factors with a percentage of 75% in the high category and for class X-E5 were family factors with a percentage of 76.78% in the high category. The biology sub-materials that were considered difficult on viruses were types of viruses and the life cycle of viruses

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low environmental literacy and academic achievement of elementary school students. The study aims to measure the effect of Android-based STEM-AR on students' environmental literacy. A quantitative research method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design was used. A total of 31 fifth-grade elementary school students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, were randomly selected from nine public schools. The research instruments included a lesson plan and an Augmented Reality (AR) medium accessible via Android smartphones. STEM was used as a reference for structuring subject matter. The treatment was conducted four times, each lasting 70 minutes. Students' environmental literacy was measured before and after the treatment using a validated multiple-choice test. Data analysis employed a t-test with a 5% significance level. The Paired Sample Test results showed a sig(2-tailed) value of 0.001 0.05, which led to the rejection of the null hypothesis and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. This study contributes to proving that Android-based STEM-AR positively influences elementary school students' environmental literacy.
