Abstract

This research aimed to result computer-based interactive learning media for eighth grade students of Junior High School. Developed interactive learning media consisted of two main parts: material and evaluation. The procedure of development followed Borg and Gall model. The interactive learning was validated by material and media experts. The material validation result was in very good category and media validation was in good category. The media was tried out at SMP Negeri 3 Palu. The students’ response in small and large-scale try out were in very good category. The students’ learning achievement showed an improvement where normalized gain (<g>) was in moderate category. The results showed that developed interactive learning media is feasible to use as an learning media in supporting conceptual understanding.

Abstract

The background of this research is the condition of students at MIS Al-Khairaat Tada who did not understand the science learning material. The learning carried out is conventional and not student-centered. This research starts from the problem of whether there is an effect of implementing the STAD type cooperative learning model on the ability to identify animals in class V students at MIS Al-Khairaat Tada? The sample for this research was 13 class V students of MIS Al-Khairaat Tada. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques through tests, observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are normality test, regression test and hypothesis test. Hypothesis testing using the t test obtained a significance value of 0,000. This value is smaller than 0,05 so Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. These results indicate that there is an influence of the application of the STAD type cooperative learning model on the ability to identify animals in class V students at MIS Al-Khairaat Tada.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the condition of students in class IV MI Muhammadiyah Nunu who during the learning process did not pay enough attention to explanations from educators. This occurs due to a lack of interesting activities in learning, resulting in a lack of interest and motivation to learn in students. The sample for this research was 19 class IV students at MI Muahammadiyah Nunu. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques through observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing and hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample T-Test obtained a significance value for interest in learning of 0.748, this value is greater than 0.05, so it is assumed that Ha is rejected and H0 is accepted, which means there is no influence of simple practical learning on interest in learning science in class IV MI Muhammadiyah students. Nunu. Meanwhile, the results of the learning motivation hypothesis test obtained a significance value of 0.045, this value is smaller than 0.05, so it is assumed that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, which means that there is an influence of simple practical learning on the science learning motivation of class IV students at MI Muhammadiyah Nunu.

Abstract

This study seeks to investigate the impact of the discovery learning model on students' scientific literacy skills concerning the topics of temperature and heat expansion in the seventh grade at MTs Negeri 3 Palu. The research employs a quantitative methodology featuring a quasi-experimental design that utilizes pretest and posttest measures in non-equivalent control group design. Class VII A serves as the experimental group, while class VII C acts as the control group, with participants selected through purposive sampling. The assessment tools consist of a multiple-choice pretest and posttest, comprising a total of 15 items. Data were analyzed utilizing a paired samples t-test. The results indicate that the significance value for students' scientific literacy skills is 0.00 (2-tailed), which is lower than the 0.05 threshold. This suggests that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the discovery learning model significantly impacts seventh-grade students' scientific literacy skills on the topics of temperature and heat expansion at MTs Negeri 3 Palu.

Abstract

This study investigates the enhancement of students’ critical thinking skills through the implementation of the guided inquiry learning model in science instruction of eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 2 Kota Palu. Employing quasi-experimental with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design, the study involved two classes: an experimental group receiving instruction via the guided inquiry model, and a control group taught using conventional model. Data were gathered through a 15-item critical thinking skills test, validated for both reliability and validity. Prior to hypothesis testing, assumptions of normality and homogeneity were confirmed. Students in the experimental group significantly improved their critical thinking abilities when compared to the control group, according to further analysis using an independent samples t-test. These results imply that critical thinking skills are successfully enhanced in science education through used of the guided inquiry learning model.

Abstract

A Review of Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Science Learning in Indonesia. Objective: This review study aims to analyse and describe the development of students' critical thinking skills in science learning. Methods: This study uses a systematic literature review by following the PRISMA form. We found 158 documents critical thinking skills in science learning in published in Scopus indexed journals from 2014 to 2024. After the screening process, 16 articles were selected for analysis using thematic analysis. Findings: The review findings show that the selection of learning media to enhance critical thinking skills in flexible science learning should be aligned with students' characteristics, the learning context and user-friendliness. The choice of learning models employed to improve critical thinking skills in science learning is highly variable and must be tailored to multiple criteria. Selecting the suitable model necessitates consideration of the students' attributes, the educational material, and the time constraints. Every learning model possesses distinct advantages in promoting critical thinking skills, necessitating the selection of the model that most effectively aligns with the particular requirements and educational situation. Conclusion: Critical thinking skills are among the most vital competencies that students should acquire. These skills are crucial in facilitating a deeper comprehension of scientific concepts among students. The literature study indicates that from 2014 to 2024, many media and learning approaches have been extensively utilized in science education. Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang Penerapan Model CTL Pada Pembelajaran Matematika di Kelas IV MI Alkhairaat Pengawu Kota Palu dengan rumusan masalah sebagai berikut: (1) Bagaimana penerapan model CTL pada pembelajaran Matematika di kelas IV MI Alkhairaat Pengawu Kota Palu, (2) Apa saja kendala yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam penerapan model CTL pada pembelajaran Matematika di kelas IV MI Alkhairaat Pengawu Kota Palu. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif yang sifatnya deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini yaitu: metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data penelitian yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran CTL yang diterapkan di MI Alkhairaat Pengawu. Ada beberapa tahapan yaitu tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Kendalanya adalah Kemampuan peserta didik yang terbatas, Kurangnya peserta didik dalam menguasai operasi perkalian dan pembagian pada konsep dasar matematika dan Kurang aktifnya peserta didik. Solusinya adalah dengan meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik , memberikan hukuman langsung kepada peserta yang saling menganggu, . Implikasi penelitian adalah guru dapat mengaplikasikan model pembelajaran CTL sebagai alternatif dalam memberikan variasi pada proses pembelajaran serta dapat mempengaruhi kualitas pendidikan sehingga proses pendidikan akan lebih efektif, serta dapat memberikan motivasi dan dorongan bagi peserta.

Abstract

Rendahnya tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik di SMPN 3 Palu yang ditunjukkan melalui keterbatasan dalam mengemukakan ide dan kesulitan memahami materi pembelajaran secara optimal menjadi fenomena yang diperhatikan pada studi ini. Dengan hal tersebut, penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik di SMPN 3 Palu tahun ajaran 2024-2025 dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan model pembelajaran discovery learning berbasis mind mapping. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan quasi eksperiment dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Penelitian ini tergolong dalam jenis kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel 56 peserta didik yang terbagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kontrol, dimana setiap kelas terdiri dari 28 peserta didik. Pengambilan sampel untuk menentukan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik ini digunakan karena memungkinkan pemilihan sampel dengan karakteristik akademik dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif yang relatif seimbang. Lima butir soal esai yang telah diverifikasi oleh ahli digunakan sebagai alat penelitian. Pada tingkat signifikansi 0,05, uji statistik parametrik seperti uji t sampel independen, uji homogenitas, dan uji normalitas digunakan dalam analisis data. Skor posttest rata-rata untuk kelas eksperimen = 65,04 dan kelompok kontrol = 37,57. Nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) = 0,001 < 0,05 mengindikasikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Artinya, secara signifikan penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning berbasis mind mapping meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik untuk berpikir kreatif dalam mata pelajaran IPA.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a Canva-based animated video integrated with Kaili ethnoscience to support students' conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system in junior high school. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of five sequential stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developed media was validated by material and media experts, followed by a limited classroom implementation involving 17 eighth-grade students at MTs Nida'ul Khairaat Pombewe. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and conceptual understanding tests administered using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The material expert validation yielded an average score of 96.7%. In comparison, the media expert validation produced an average score of 91.7%, both of which were categorized as Very Good, confirming the high validity and technical quality of the developed media. Student reaction was also very favorable across six dimensions: attractiveness, ease of use, clarity, relevance, engagement, and usefulness, which indicate high practicality and acceptance in the classroom. Effectiveness testing results showed a significant increase in students' conceptual knowledge, with an average N-gain of 0.85 (high category) and a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.49). Improvements in learning were observed across all seven conceptual understanding indicators, with the greatest increases in classifying (N-gain=1.000), explaining (N-gain=0.947), and comparing (N-gain=0.917). Such results suggest that providing culturally relevant ethnoscience material to students, together with available digital animation resources, may facilitate significant learning in science by helping abstract physiological ideas relate to students' cultural lives. However, because this study employed a one-group pretest-posttest design without a control group and had a limited sample size, the findings should be interpreted with caution. Future studies using controlled experimental designs with larger and more diverse samples are recommended to further validate the effectiveness of ethnoscience-integrated animated learning media. Keywords: animated video, canva, culturally responsive teaching, conceptual understanding, respiratory system, ethnoscience.

Abstract

Miskonsepsi merupakan salah satu permasalahan utama dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) yang dapat menghambat pemahaman konsep peserta didik. Meskipun Certainty of Response Index (CRI) telah banyak digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi pada berbagai topik IPA, kajian yang secara khusus mengkaji miskonsepsi pada materi pengukuran di tingkat madrasah tsanawiyah (MTs) masih terbatas dan belum memberikan pemetaan berdasarkan indikator pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan tingkat dan pola miskonsepsi peserta didik pada materi pengukuran berdasarkan indikator pemahaman konsep menggunakan Certainty of Response Index (CRI). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan subjek seluruh peserta didik kelas VII MTs Syekh Lokiya Towale. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes diagnostik berbasis CRI sebanyak 12 butir soal pilihan ganda beralasan yang dikembangkan berdasarkan enam indikator pemahaman konsep serta dilengkapi dengan wawancara terbatas terhadap dua peserta didik untuk memperkuat interpretasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa miskonsepsi tertinggi terdapat pada indikator mengklasifikasikan objek sesuai konsep (30,8%), diikuti memberikan contoh dan noncontoh (26,9%) serta menyatakan ulang konsep (15,4%). Sebagian besar peserta didik juga berada pada kategori tidak tahu konsep pada indikator prosedur dan pemecahan masalah. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya penggunaan CRI sebagai instrumen diagnostik untuk mendukung perancangan pembelajaran yang lebih tepat sasaran dalam memperkuat pemahaman konsep IPA.
