Abstract

Some studies show a link between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and tooth loss may be associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease and infective endocarditis. The relationship between the teeth and CVD can be explained by periodontal disease, caries, tooth extraction, changes in eating patterns following tooth loss, or other intruders. Oral and dental procedures incorrectly can cause bacteremia, namely the entry of microorganisms in the blood and circulate throughout the body. Patients with dental problems that has cardiovascular disease should take antibiotics before going to the dentist. The use of antibiotics prior to a dental procedure will reduce the possibility of being infected by the bacteria. Maintaining oral hygiene is highly recommended to avoid focal infection.

Abstract

Puskesmas Ngagel Rejo is one of the health centers in Surabaya, has run the school dental health effort (UKGS), but has not been able to carry out oral health efforts in the community (UKGM), because puskesmas do not yet have a cadre of oral health in posyandu. The problem with research is that there is no oral health cadre at Puskesmas Ngagel Rejo Surabaya that serves the community. The study aims to increase the performance capacity of cadres of toddlers concurrently becoming oral health cadres as well, using training with a knowledge management approach: SECI. The study was a quasi-experimental study with a non-randomized control group of pre-post-design tests. There were three non-randomly selected groups, then given a pre-test to find out the initial state, which is the difference between the experimental group and the control group. Data analysis uses non-parametric data because the data is not distributed normally. The population of this study is a cadre of Puskesmas Ngagel Rejo Surabaya numbering 317 cadres, while the total sample is 150 cadres. As a result, there were significant differences in knowledge and skill levels between dental health training groups without SECI, dental health training groups with SECI, and control groups (p-value <0.001). This research can prove that the knowledge and skills of the SECI group are better than the other two groups. In conclusion, knowledge management-based training: SECI affects cadre behavior in oral health.

One of the periodontal pathogenic bacterial species is Porphyromonas gingivalis. Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria found in dental plaque and bacteria that cause periodontal tissue pathological changes with the activation of the immune and inflammatory response of the host, and directly affects the cells of the periodontium. Abstract

Children with autism have dental health problems that are often encountered, namely dental caries, periodontal disease, damage to the oral environment, tooth eruption disorders, and trauma. Coordination of irregular tongue movements causes food to often get stuck in the mouth and is not swallowed immediately, exacerbated by the habit of consuming cariogenic foods so that the risk of dental caries is higher in children with autism. This study aims to explain the oral health assessment in terms of oral hygiene in children with autism. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review obtained from four databases, namely Google Scholar, Pubmed, Wiley, and Science Direct. The results showed that the oral health assessment of children with autistic spectrum disorder was poor. There are still many autistic children who have caries and periodontal disease. It shows how difficult it is for autistic children and their parents to maintain healthy teeth and mouths. Factors that influence, among others, impaired concentration and interaction in children with autism is the lack of understanding of parents about maintaining dental and oral health. The benefit obtained from this literature review is to share insights that proper care by maintaining Dental oral and dental hygiene can improve tooth brushing skills in autistic children.

Abstract

Anxiety in the action of tooth extraction is often caused by the use of sharp objects that are carried out gradually into the oral cavity. Anxiety of dental medical personnel can be the main cause decline dental and oral health. The problem in this study is dental anxiety about tooth extraction in children at SDN Pekarungan Kec. Sukodono, from the results of initial data collection, it was found that 40% had low and moderate anxiety. This study aims to determine the effect of factors for determining dental anxiety in elementary school children with tooth extraction. Methods: The type of research used is analytic cross sectional with purposive sampling technique, the total population is 416 students and the sample obtained is 87 respondents using the cross-sectional formula. Data analysis using chi-square test and ordinal regression analysis. The result of the study there are two factors that influence dental anxiety on tooth extraction using chi-square test, namely gender (p=0.035) and parents education (p=0.001) and there is the most influential factor using logistic regression analysis test, namely parents education ( p=0.001) with an odds ratio value (9.31). In conclusion, most of the respondents experienced moderate anxiety and the influencing factors were gender and parent’s education. The benefit of this research is to provide input for health workers, especially dentists and dental nurses, in providing good dental and oral health care efforts by paying attention to the level of anxiety in pediatric patients who will have their teeth extracted.

Abstract

The health of the child's teeth and mouth is a factor that must be considered as early as possible because it can affect the growth of teeth at a later age. The proportion of daily brushing behavior in the ≥ 3-year-old population in East Java is very high, but proper brushing behavior in the population of ≥ 3 years is still very lacking. The results of previous studies prove that the percentage of the mother's actions in the maintenance of the health of the teeth and mouth of the child is good, but the health status of the child's teeth and mouth is bad. The problem that exists in kindergarten children in Kemayoran village of Krembangan Subdistrict is the low health status of the child's teeth and mouth, so it is considered necessary for the mother of the kindergarten child to be given counseling about the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene of the child. The purpose of community service is to increase the mother's knowledge of kindergarten children about the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene of children. The methods used extension, demonstration, and simulation of brushing teeth. There is an increase in maternal knowledge about the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene of children, but there are still many mothers who do not know the correct standing position when brushing children's teeth and the benefits of checking teeth regularly. This activity proves that counseling can increase the knowledge of mothers and kindergarten teachers.
