Abstract

One important process in improving water quality is the aeration process. In carrying out this aeration process it is necessary to use a device called an aerator. The working principle of this tool is to add dissolved oxygen in the water. This research was conducted using an aerator column with a height of 50 cm, a length of 25 cm and a width of 5 cm with freshwater and sea water media. the addition of variations in the form of air hole diameter (needle) with a variation of 1 mm, 1.5 mm and 2 mm and air discharge of 1, 2 and 3 liters / minute. The results showed that the larger the needle diameter, the larger the diameter of the air bubbles in fresh water and sea air. The difference in media between freshwater and sea air affects the diameter of the air bubbles. Keywords - aeration, aerator column, air bubbles

Abstract

Tobacco stems contain up to 35-50% cellulose, make them ideal for use as a renewable energy source. Tobacco varieties Na Oogst and Voor Oogst are characterized by their growing season. This study aims to obtain the effect of comparison of tobacco variants on the characteristics of bioethanol products. Each type is distinguished by its particle size (a) : 8-10 mm, (b) : 1.19 mm, (c) : 0.25 mm. A total of 100 grams of material was delignified using 1 liter of 4% HCl for 30 minutes. The material is then fermented using 10 grams of yeast for 10 days and distilled at a temperature of 78-80oC. Using Image J Software, the volume of the product is measured and then burned to examine the characteristics of the fire based on the duration of the flame, the percentage of color, and the dimensions of the flame. The volume of the product is also affected by particle size. The Na Oogst variant had the maximum volume with a particle size (c) of 120 ml and the lowest volume with a particle size (a) of 29 ml. The best fire characteristics were obtained in the Voor Oogst variant with particle size (c) and a blue flame percentage of 48 percent, whereas the Na Oogst variant with particle size (a) and a blue flame percentage of 10.2 percent had the lowest blue flame percentage.

Abstract

The ball mill machine for grinding red brick waste is a tool for crushing red brick waste into powder. Factors that influence the production process are the length of time and the number of solid balls. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the length of time and the comparison of the number of solid balls on the performance of the ball mill machine for grinding red brick waste. The method used in this study includes variations in the length of time and the ratio of the number of solid balls with a time of 10,15, and 20 minutes with a ratio of the number of solid balls 5:0, 5:5, 5:8 and 5:10. Measurement of the results of red brick powder using a wire-mesh with a size of 16; 60; and 100 mesh. The results showed that there was an effect of treatment variations in the length of time and the ratio of the number of solid balls to the production capacity of the red brick waste grinding machine. Where the highest value was obtained at a 5:0 ball ratio variation with an experimental length of 20 minutes with a mass difference of 104 grams, and the lowest result was obtained at a 5:5 ratio weighing 11 grams with an experimental time of 10 minutes.

Abstract

The propeller is an important part of the ship's propulsion installation. Differences in propeller design can affect the propulsion performance of the ship. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in dimension ratio and propeller installation pattern on the performance of the contra rotation propeller type boat. The research was carried out experimentally by using variations of three-dimensional propeller ratios including R1 (1:1); R2 (1:1/2) and R3 (1:1/4), while the pattern of placement of the shaft tilt angle includes 15oand 20o. The flow pattern is conditioned with the waveless and wavy flow. Data collection includes boat speed and visualization of fluid flow behind the propeller which is then analyzed to obtain performance characteristics for each variation used. The results showed that the dimension ratio and the pattern of contra rotation propeller installation affected the speed and thrust of the boat, where the optimum power was obtained at the variation of the ratio R2 at a shaft tilt angle of 15owith the provision of a water flow mechanism without waves resulting in a speed of 0.576923 cm/second and under conditions of wavy at 0.523256 cm/second. The greatest thrust occurs in conditions of water flow without waves at the variation of the ratio R2 with a value of 33.23 kN and in wavy conditions of 30.13 kN. Visualization of fluid flow behind the shaft has shown the performance of the contra rotation propeller in various variations given through changes in the shape and length of the resulting path .Keywords: dimension ratio, installation pattern, contra rotation propeller, boat performance

Abstract

Kenyamanan dan keamanan dari pengendara kendaraan dapat ditentukan dari kestabilan dan Laju kendaraan. Kestabilan dari laju kendaraan ATV salah satunya ditentukan oleh ketepatan dari pemilihan dan perancangan sistem suspensi yang dipasang pada roda depan dan roda belakang. Namun dalam perkembangannya tidak semua sistem suspensi mampu memberikan kenyamanan dan kestabilan yang optimal. Dalam hal ini analisis kenyamanan dalam berkendaran difokuskan pada kemampuan sistem suspensi dalam menstabilkan guncangan. Data hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan memperhitungkan kondisi jalan (jalan rata, sedikit bergelombang, dan bergelombang), beban yang diangkut (0 Kg, 40 Kg, dan 50 Kg), serta kecepatan yang sudah ditentukan (300 Rpm, 600 Rpm, dan 900 Rpm) pada kendaraan ATV menunjukkan tingkat kestabilan dan kenyamanan dari kendaraan ATV tersebut masih tergolong normal, karena tidak melebihi dari batas maksimum area kerja Shock Absober yang digunakan, yaitu sebesar 50 mm. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan defleksi pegas tertinggi sebesar 22,22 mm dengan kondisi jalan bergelombang, dan dengan beban 50 kg, serta kecepatan yang digunakan 300 rpm. Data hasil penelitian didapatkan dengan bantuan alat khusus pengukur defleksi pegas yaitu sensor Ultrasonik SRF-04. Dari hasil penelitian juga ditemukan bahwa tingkat defleksi pegas tinggi ketika berada pada kondisi jalan yang bergelombang, serta semakin tinggi juga tingkat defleksi pegas ketika beban dinaikkan. Sedangkan ketika kecepatan dinaikkan maka tingkat defleksi pegas akan menurun.Kata kunci: Kendaraan ATV, Sistem Suspensi, Kondisi Jalan, Beban, Kecepatan, Shock Absober, Sensor Ultrasonik SRF-04

Abstract

Piezoelektrik merupakan salah satu komponen elektronik yang mampu mengkonversi energi getaran menjadi energi listrik. Peristiwa munculnya getaran diakibatkan tumbukan air hujan terhadap penampang atap bangunan. ada beberapa hal yang mempengaruhi produksi energi listrik adalah sudut kemiringan dan bahan material atap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh sudut kemiringan dan jenis material atap. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah menggunakan sudut kemiringan 10o, 20o, 30o, 40odan jenis material atap plastik gelombang dan galvalum dengan perlakuan hujan gerimis, sedang, dan deras. Hasil penelitian telah menunjukkan adanya pengaruh sudut kemiringan dan jenis material atap terhadap getaran dan tegangan listrik yang dihasilkan. Dari hasil analisa diketahui bahwa sudut kemiringan 10opada jenis material atap galvalum dengan perlakuan hujan deras menghasilkan getaran dan tegangan listrik tertinggi yaitu 16,42 mm/s dan 0,4322 volt. Sedangkan getaran dan tegangan listrik terendah diperoleh pada sudut kemiringan 40opada jenis material atap plastrik gelombang dengan perlakuan hujan gerimis yaitu 6,92 mm/s dan 0,1205 volt.Kata kunci : tegangan, kemiringan atap, curah hujan

Abstract

The heat of vehicle engine emission is still can be used in order to efficiency effort and thermal polution preventive activity. This research is aimed to get the effect of the insulator coating pattern on the header on the motorcycle exhaust temperature. The reserach is done for Honda Scoopy motorcycle with engine rotation vary as 1000, 1500 and 2000 rpm. Isolator insulation vary for insulation pattern as 0, 1 and 2 cm in distance. The temperatures of exhaust are measured in 4 points measurement with K type thermocouple. The result shows that insulator coating pattern affects the temperature of the exhaust gas heat dissipation exhaust pipe (header) motorcycle exhaust. Abstract

Conservation of water sources is very necessary for the needs of daily life. Community service cleaning and identification of the Dilem water source area in the Papring Neighbourhood has been carried out by the Mechanical Engineering Student Association of PGRI Banyuwangi University. The purpose of this article is to develop the concept of water source conservation for the needs of the Papring Village community, Kalipuro Sub-district, Banyuwangi District. The concept is prepared based on information and data that has been obtained from the surrounding community and from the implementation of cleaning activity of the water source area. A simple schema of the source area is made as the basis for drafting the concept. The concept of conservation is structured in the form of steps or methods that may be applied in the source area.

Abstract

The contact between ball and tennis racket is a collision phenomenon. The ball exerts a force on the racket which causes deflection. This study aims to obtain the deflection characteristics of a tennis racket due to ball contact. The research was conducted by experiment with Kinetic brand rackets. The racket is clamps on the grip. The ball used is Nassau brand with 0.058 kg of mass. Free fall is arranged 1, 2 and 3 meters heights, with 3 hitting points on racket string. The deflection measurement uses the pen method at 5 points on racket frame. Five points are arranged sequentially from the grip with 6 cm distance. Data collection was carried out with 3 repetitions to get average value. The deflection was measured using a caliper with 0.01 mm accuracy. The results show that the deflection has a linear characteristic and depends on the momentum of the ball

Abstract

Wood chipper machine is a tool used to crush wood waste into powder (particles). This study aims to determine the effect of the distance between the blades and the hopperangle due to wood chipper machine performance. The distance between the blades was varied by 2 mm and 3 mm. The hopper angle was varied by 45o, 50o, and 55o. Measurement of sengon woodparticlesis done by using wire-mesh with sizes of 1.19 mm, 0.25 mm, and 0.15 mm. The result of the study show that there is an effe ct of the distance between the blades and the hopperangle dueto wood chipper machine performance.
